Sierra Dean is a reformed historian. She was born and raised in the Canadian prairies and is allowed annual exit visas in order to continue her quest of steadily conquering the world one city at a time. Making the best of the cold Canadian winters, Sierra indulges in her less global interests: drinking too much tea and writing urban fantasy.

Ever since she was a young girl she has loved the idea of the supernatural coexisting with the mundane. As an adult, however, the idea evolved from the notion of fairies in flower beds, to imagining that the rugged-looking guy at the garage might secretly be a werewolf. She has used her overactive imagination to create her own version of the world, where vampire, werewolves, fairies, gods and monsters all walk among us, and she’ll continue to travel as much as possible until she finds it for real.

She’s also a book lover (of course!), obsessive collector of OPI nailpolish and the owner of way too many pairs of shoes.

Night Moves is a quick look at one night in Holden's life in 1983. Who knew chatting up a beautiful human could lead to this?

He knew one thing with absolute certainty: he would never again put anyone else in harm's way. He'd never train another girl to become a killer. He was done with vampire hunters.

Never say never - especially if you're a long-lived immortal. Holden, first introduced in Dean's Secret McQueen series, is an intriguing character who we get to know somewhat throughout that series. However, I'm hoping Sierra Dean makes this the prequel to a new spin-off that reveal all about this vamp.

Oh, it was so short. Sadness! I wanted more Holden.

Holden in the 80s, despairing about mullets, LOL. Well they are ugly, I am with you there Holden.

It takes place during one evening. He meets a woman named Felicia. She hunts vampires, he is a vampire. Should he help out?

Holden is hot..oh I should say more? He is kind in his jaded way.

Felicia is out of her league. But who can blame her.

I can not really say more, I will spoil the whole thing then.

I do want more of Holden. Oh how I miss the gang.

I wasn’t sure if fans of the Secret McQueen series were aware that Sierra Dean had released a short story all about Holden Chancery.

Be aware that Night Moves is a prequel story. This is all about Holden and events that happen before he meets and befriends Secret. I went in unaware, thinking it would give some insight as to his whereabouts after the events of the last McQueen book and was surprised when a younger, more “naive” Holden was introduced. This is listed on Goodreads as book one in a series, so I’m not sure exactly what is to come next, but you might want to pick it up if you’re missing a certain vampire.

P.S. I’m still waiting on Sig to get his spin-off. Oh, how I miss me some Sig.

Well, hello, Mr. Chancery. You might not have the best luck with the ladies who wander through your life, but you're looking mighty fine! And after that shallow thought, I'm going to throw in that this book took a nicely dark turn that I wasn't expecting.

I'm also going to say that I liked seeing Holden before he met Secret. He's still sexy and debonair, but that doesn't stop him from being a predator at heart. As a vampire, he needs to feed and that means finding prey. I like predatory Holden. There's something wicked about him that works for me.

A nice little romp back into Secret's world before it WAS Secret's world. *slow thumbs up*
