In the world of high-stakes gambling, a killer lurks…

It’s springtime in Denver, and private investigator Reed Ferguson is less than a week away from his wedding. When an old flame, Alicia Ferrigam, shows up asking for help, things quickly go awry. Alicia plays in a high-stakes poker tournament, and she believes someone is cheating. She asks Reed to find out who, but before he can identify the cheater, a mysterious death occurs at the tournament. Suddenly Reed finds himself on a suspect list almost as long as the wedding guest list. With his fiancée Willie spinning from pre-wedding jitters, and his parents and future in-laws arriving in two days, Reed juggles to balance wedding commitments and the search to find the killer. But can he solve the crime and get himself off the suspect list before wedding bells ring?

Perfect story.

Especially at this time. Take time to rest from shopping and running around and read this book. Read all this series, like all the movies and music Reed listens and talks about. Can't wait for the next book, hope he's not going to get in trouble while on honeymoon.

Another good installment in the Reed Ferguson series

I have been choosing the books in this series as my monthly Kindle Lending Library selection for about a year now and that's because I am never disappointed.

The mysteries at the center of each book are compelling enough to keep me engaged, but they often take a back seat to the characters of Reed, Willie, the Goofball Brothers and Reed's mom all of whom keep me coming back for more.

In this installment, Reed reluctantly accepts a case involving an ex-girlfriend as a way to avoid the "drama" of preparation for his impending wedding. As usual, what seems like a straight forward attempt to help an old acquaintance results in some unanticipated consequences.

I loved, loved, loved this book!!!!

10++++++++stars!!!!
Man, did Reed get into a mess a week before an important moment in his life!!
Answering a phone call that is a big blast from his past and gets bad fast.
And he has a week to solve it. Willie is going crazy, because he has to help her and their parents are coming into town and he has to figure out this case he got talked into.
Of course, he has Cal and the Goofball brothers to help.
It is a real page turner, l didn't sleep much at all.
Renee you did it again!!!!
Now on to the next Reed book!!
YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!

He's not a postman any more.

This was a murder and a wedding. It shows life goes on. The way the rush of a wedding a few days away kept this detective running and how he finally came to the conclusion of who did it was fun and worring. Why? When someone tells you not to leave town and you have a honeymoon all planned, you better prove your innocent or a bunch of people will be after you!

Just days before his marriage to Willie, an ex-girlfriend shows up and wants to hire him to watch her play poker at an "event". She is convinced that one of the players, The Postman, is cheating. She ends up getting poisoned and having a heart attack. This makes everybody, that was there, a suspect, including Reed. If he wants to have a Honeymoon, he needs to find out who the murderer is.

Another Good Read.

Another day another book. I like quick reads and The Postman Always Brings Dice was that. No big surprises, though if Reed was a real person I’d be greatly disappointed taking on a case the week prior to his wedding when he promised he wouldn’t and a former girlfriend as a client

So is Reed show up at the altar in the last minute with a black eye?

Another good private eye story

I enjoy this kind of private eye book. Good characters that show up in all of the stories and pretty good plots that can leave you guessing who did the deed.

Reed once again finds himself behind the eight-ball in this volume. This volume sets around a high-stakes poker game where Reed finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Solid detective noir for the die-hard detective story lover.

Reed is trying to be good and a old girlfriend calls for help.

If course he had promised Willie no new cases until they got back from their honeymoon. But a somehow things don't always work like that for Reed.

Read and enjoy !

Poor Reed is getting married, and has been told no new cases in the week before the wedding. So of course ex-girlfriend Alicia needs help, but just for one evening. Life is never that easy.
Apart from the annoying bits about the wedding preparation it was an enjoyable read.

A cute story. Glad to hear wedding bells for Reed. His new bride will have fun keeping him safe as he investigated more cases.

How Not to Plan a Wedding

Love this book telling about Reed and Willie's wedding planning. As usual nothing goes easily for the couple as Reed gets involved with a murder investigation days before his wedding go Willie. Involving the goofball brothers, his parents, and his future in laws, this take is exciting and fun at the same time. A classic Reed.

Kindle Unlimited or else was on a freebie day, yes another one of my going to go thru them all. Not counting novellas {reading in order see list below} or 5 set short stories {read them all together so out of order if order is important, but the order is given below}. There was issues with this one, from saying such things as too many people so 2 vehicles to bring the parents from airport because one geting in earlier than other BUT them all showing up at same time & the cop being there yet following chapter talks about him coming in with all of them already havng had been there already but had to read it 4 times to figure out that wasn't quite right, the way reading it, but anytime reader has to reread/keep rereading same area that's an issue with the writing...major continuity issues, including he basically sneaks into her apartment and looks around after dropping off her car with help of desk clerk & goes into apartment to look around, leaving her purse, which he doesn't even glance thru but leaves it there which is proof he was in the apartment so if was murder they know he went to apartment DUH.

Good mystery-good characters-good read!

The Postman Always Brings Dice by Renee Pawlish is another in the Rex Ferguson mystery series. Reed is a PI who seems to take "easy" cases that turn into major mayhem and murder. What amazes me however, is the fact that Reed will talk to anyone and everyone until he figures out what happened, and still get the case solved in a very short time! He is resourceful and has an incredible Clandestine Information Specialist who can get him any information he needs over the internet! His fiance, Willie, is not only beautiful but part saint!

This book is about an old college girlfriend hiring him to verify someone is cheating at poker. So many lies later, Reed is left solving her murder while juggling final preparations for his wedding. If you read the last book in the series, you will know how well Reed works under unbelievable pressure. While this time he wasn't physically threatened, the threat of not letting him leave town (for that honeymoon) was enough to fire him into high gear!

You don't have to read the books in order to enjoy the mystery, but having read the previous books makes you appreciate the reoccurring characters more. (Gotta love Ace and Deuce!) I recommend reading them in order for that reason. However wherever you start, you are going to enjoy Reed and his approach to his PI clients. This book is a interesting mystery and fun to read!

Renée Pawlish is a refreshing voice to the comic murder mystery genre. Pawlish's development of the plot, her attention to detail coupled with her ability to contrive clear, concise and playful prose makes for an entertaining read in all her books. I received an advance reader copy from the author, so this review is pre-publication. Reed Ferguson is back with another mystery to solve, and finally in the twelfth book marry the love of his life, if he lives long enough that is. You have to read this book! Pre-scheduled for release in early November 2015.

I particularly love this series. Not just because I am a noir fan, because I am, but because Ms Pawlish is such a great author. The plots are engaging, the pacing keeps you involved, even the locale plays a significant role. But one of the best features is that the characters evolve. And this book takes us to one of the biggest steps we take in life, ones wedding. But knowing Reed, of course he trips over an engaging case on the way to the alter.
Ms Pawlish has been incredibly prolific, especially in the past year. I've begun to wonder if she has a bunch of trolls chained to keyboards in her garage. But no matter, even if it's trolls, The Postman Always Brings Dice is a terrific book that holds your interest from beginning to end. If you like mysteries with a solid plot, engaging characters, set in a memorable locale, but aren't a fan of violence or crass language, you'll love this book. And for that matter, the whole series.
Even if she does enslave trolls.

The Postman Always Brings Dice is the newest installment in the Reed Ferguson Mystery series. This is the week before Willie and Reed's wedding. He promised not to take on any work for his PI business this week but when an ex-girlfriend calls, he thinks it a simple case and agrees. But Reed ends up combining wedding errands and activities along with solving a murder of the ex-girlfriend in order to make it to his honeymoon. I love how Reed interviews suspects and evaluates information to solve the mystery. Fans of Castle will love these books.

This is another wonderful entry in the superb Reed Ferguson mystery series by Renee Pawlish. In this one, Reed must tackle an old girlfriend, a new femme fatale, tux fittings, a high stakes poker game, future in-laws, a murderous BMW and a plethora of snakes, all in time to make it to the altar. A fun, fast-paced and humorous mystery, with a touch of hard-boiled noir, you won't want to miss.

I like the way author Renee Pawlish keeps up the suspense and peppers it with comic moments and plot twists without resorting to gore or explicit language. The Postman Always Brings Dice is a pageturner and I finished it in less than 2 days. P.I. Reed Ferguson is in a race against time to solve a murder in which he is one of the suspects. I was privileged to read an advance copy as a beta reader, but I bought a copy as soon as it became available, because I will enjoy reading it again.

Likeable characters, fun story.

I correctly deduced early on "who done it" and the motivation for the murder, although at that point I wasn't sure how the person I suspected and the reason for the murder were related. I don't think most people would have reached the conclusions I did. I enjoyed seeing how my suspicions finally proved true. The book's pacing was good. No slow spots in the story. I don't typically read mysteries but I really enjoyed this book.
