Engagingly written essay summarizing (and opining on) the development of modern comedy, focusing on the maturation of the sitcom after the decline of the comedy variety show, also touching on the evolution of stand-up comedy from emcee gigs at Borscht Belt resorts into late night television.

I skimmed this, so I can't say I got the whole thing or whatever, but it was kind of "eh" to me.
