Ho Hum--it's a rehashing of an often used plot for this genre. A woman leaves her husband, divorces him, and conceals her pregnancy from him (if the kids are even biologically his--that's not even revealed in this book). The man (Jax) finds out when she dumps the kids off at his door (without him even being home--though to be fair, later in the novel we find out he is usually home except Sundays for church and occasional necessary shopping trips). A newcomer to the area (Faith) has purchased Jax's ranching experience in a fundraiser and happens to be with him when he rushes home and finds the twins. She's able to help him through those first few moments. And of course, they both have reasons why they can't be in love with anyone else, let alone each other.
Both Jax and Faith are hurting souls. Jax's heart was broken when his wife rejected him shortly after the accident that caused his scars. Faith's heart was bruised when a guy she'd been seeing for a couple years rejected her, refused to let her see his son with whom she'd bonded, and disparaged her parenting skills. Both turned to horses for healing: Jax feels more comfortable with horses where he doesn't have to worry his one-sided deafness keeps him from understanding what's going on. Faith has a heart to save wild mustangs.
I admire Faith's heart for rescue horses, but she buys a dilapidated farm (perhaps because of the cheap acreage) and jumps in with both feet before having anything ready, including a way to keep the horses within her property. I can't believe that her old mentor, an experienced horse rescuer, who brought the first two horses, would allow them to stay on a property where they weren't safely contained--but apparently she does. It just doesn't seem that Faith was very responsible as far as the horses she planned to rescue.

Being up for auction was never something Jax McKenna wanted to participate in. But the beautiful Faith Duggan rescues him by pulling him down from the podium and purchasing his services for help with her mustang sanctuary. The new territory of figuring out a city girl is nothing compared to the surprise waiting on Jax's doorstep. Twin baby girls greet him after his ex-wife deserts daughters he never even knew about.
Faith Duggan offers this rancher a helping hand with the babies. Her tenderness and the compassion she has for some of his old wounds stirs unexpected feelings for both of them. And managing a string of wild horses along with two baby girls only brings the two closer.
I enjoyed this story's depth with regards to Jax's back story and their relationship had just the right amount of flair and charm. I highly recommend this Love Inspired installment.

A sweet little story with a predictable plot that was nonetheless enjoyable to read. The scene where Jax discovers the twins was very touching and he’s convincing as a surprised but committed new father. I wanted to see a bit more of the confrontation with their mother, but that probably doesn’t fit with this line’s style. Calling it “inspirational” is reaching, as all they do is go to church and pray a few times, but at least it has that much.

Sorry , a huge disappointment !
The story began with promise that rapidly lead to disappointment. Jack was an interesting character, wounded physically and emotionally. When his former wife dropped off twin girls that Jax did not know about and then returned, high on drugs, demanding to see the girls, I was waiting for a dramatic moment, But nothing happened. The ex-wife left after a ho-hum bunch of dialogue and never returned. I waited for Faith to have a past as compelling as Jax's. That never happened . You had to suspend a lot of reality to believe that someone would buy a totally dilapidated ranch and proceed to make it a horse refuge, with no real experience going for her. She was a very poorly developed character. Her reason for being afraid of a relationship was weak. She was in love with an unfaithful man, who had a son, that she loved. She was shocked when he left her and took the child away. Seriously, how could she be shocked!! I kept waiting for the crisis that would bring Jax and Faith together and test their love for one another . The thunderstorm and lame fire just did not do it. You never felt the emotion of either event . This book lacked believability !!!!!

The Cowboy's Twins a Cowboy Country series by Deb Kastner. Jax McKenna had a bad burn onhis left side and a scar on his left side of his face from saving a mother and her child from a car that ended up burning and he was caught in the fire. The town was having a bachelor auction to rain money to build a home for seniors who needed care. Jax and his brothers agreed to be in the auction. When Jax's turn came up, no one bid on him. Jax figured it was because of the scar on his face. A lady in the back of the room bid five hundred dollars for him. They would work four weekends and do anything the person who got the highest bid wanted them to do. New to town, Faith Dungan was the one who bid on Jax. She wanted help getting her her mustang ranch up and running. It's the ups and downs of their relationship. His ex-wife leaving his twin three month old daughters on his doorsteps that he didn't know about, the town helping her fix up her house, and a fire that ruined part of the fields and working with the wild horses. A very good read.

This is the first book I have read by Deb Kastner and now I will have to go and read the rest. What a wonderful book with a broken hero and a woman who has had her own problems but can't see the scars on the outside of Jax. They are kindred spirits who come together at a time when they both need someone in their lives who can stand beside them not behind them. Faith, try as she might can't help but fall in love with Jax's twins especially when they literally fall in his lap and he has no clue what to do with baby girls. Then the Ex shows back up. That exchange is worth reading the whole book for.

Jax and Faith are both strong leading characters in The Cowboy's Twins. I admired Faith's dedication to her mission of rescuing wild mustangs. I enjoyed this cowboy romance with twin babies as a bonus! I won my copy of The Cowboy's Twins in a blog giveaway.
