Killer Kellan. It's a name I earned in Afghanistan, before I ever set foot in a ring.
I’ve been a screw-up my entire life, but joining the Marines was supposed to straighten me out. Instead, all it did was make me dangerous.
Now that I was back home, I had nothing to offer anyone but pain. No path in my future leading to anything but misery. You’d think I’d have just accepted my fate. That I would have just learned to be content with banging the random ring girls that were always waiting for me in the winner’s room.
But it wasn’t enough.
Instead, I put it all on the line when Parker fucking Jones showed up in my life.
And now, nothing is ever going to be the same again.
***This is a stand-alone novel with an HEA. It contains adult situations and violence, and although it is a follow-up to the book Slade, you don’t need to read one to enjoy the other. However, as an added bonus, this copy of Kellan includes the entire Slade: A Stepbrother Romance novel anyway!***
ARC copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I read and liked the first book in this series and I liked this book too. Kellan is Iris's little brother, the one that looked up to Slade, his step brother, before going off the rails when he thought Slade had raped his sister. In the first book we see Slade go to a crack house in an attempt to rescue Kellan but to no avail.
This book starts out explaining that Kellan is clean and fresh out of the marines. Kellan's self esteem is pretty low and he feels all he does is disappoint those around him. Kellan is an undefeated underground MMA fighter, earning money illegally as he has been unable to find a legitimate job.
Parker, a journalist, is on a mission to get the local senator to push a bill that helps veterans find work on leaving th military. Parker meets Kellan in a bar one night and like the look of each other. Parker and her friend and colleague Thom do some digging and end up attending one of Kellan's fights. They find out that the fight manager Vic is a conman but before they can report this to the fighters, Vic spins them a line and Thom ends up in hospital.
I think his book had lots of potential but it felt rushed. The depth of feelings were unbelievable to me with Parker and Kellan only knowing each other for like, 30 pages! I also feels that these books are produced so quickly the author gets lazy with her adjectives and scene setting. Having said all this, I always enjoy these books, they don't change my life, but I enjoy them, I just think that they could be so much better if they had more time spent on them -

This book was just ok. By the halfway mark it flew and all of a sudden it's over. It definitely had potential at being great, even really good but it settled for ok.
The biggest issue I had or have is when authors take an alpha hot head and suddenly change him into a weeping pussy. I didn't get it. Kellan all of a sudden was philosophical and cutesy. It didn't go with who we first met. I saw the attraction between the couple but not the insta love we get 2 days after one date. Then the book seriously rushes. The last two chapters are of Kellan summarizing what goes down between him, Vic and Parker. Like one big giant epilogue. Sure I'm all for epilogues but I felt like the story didn't really finish. Oh well. Like I said it's not a bad book I just assumed it would be different.
We first met Kellan in Slade's book and man oh man has he ever grown up since then and literally become a lady killer...he attacks them after every fight with his killer weapon and let me tell you, it was extremely steamy and heat filled to read those scenes! Enter Parker Jones...reporter and the sweet woman who will be enough to bring this killer to his knees (and senses) and when it all goes down, it was exciting and playful and yet really really dangerous as well. There is a lot of intrigue and behind the scenes action, life threatening danger and passion when Parker sets out to get her story, get her justice and get her man. Politics and the slick world of underground fighting go hand in hand in this story of getting back what you lost, fighting for the rights of those who served and were left hanging and finding the one who can both rock your world and keep you level headed and calm. I really liked this new book a lot and although there are times where it gets a little preachy, it was worth the read and brings some important issues to light.
***** 4.5 ***** "fighting for justice and freedom" stars
This book was a very, very quick read. I Was excited to read it because it was about a vet and mma fighting. Sounds good just by those two subjects right? Well the story is about this vet, Kellan, who can't get a job after he leaves the marines. So he turns to underground fighting. Parker is a reporter who is working on a story trying to get the senator to approve a bill that will help get vets jobs. Parker meets kellan and they don't hit it off to well as it ends with him telling her off. Of course she's intrigued because he is gorgeous, a vet and working something illegal. Eventually they get together and the story goes on from there.
I don't like instant love because it just doesn't make sense. How can u fall in love with someone you just met and know nothing about. Instant lust - he'll yes but not love. That's what h append here. The book could have been a really good one because it had the great bones to a good story which was relatable. This was so quick that you didn't get to really know the characters and you don't feel their connection. This could have easily been a novel with more story line and details.
Kellan was a fast-paced, sexy novel about a marine trying to make it in the world, kicking butt in illegal fighting rings who turned out to be basicly just like his step brother from the first book Slade . A arrogant womanizer . Parker is a reporter working to change his world and other vets like him by working on a story of the year. I just couldn't seem to be completely into these stories. I skipped through a few pages alot . It's a good book with very detailed scenes, both violent and sexual. It's pretty descriptive in the bedroom so was pretty hot an steamy there .I think a lot of people will like this book and a lot of people won't just depends on what your cup of tea is .
I wanted to love this book so much. The premise of the story sounded amazing. My first issue with this book is that it is not a full length novel. I don’t know exactly how many pages it was but it said I was “15%” finished my book when I was done reading the ebook version of it. I believe the rest of the ebook is comprised of previews/excerpts of other books.
I feel like story had a lot of potential. The first half of the book featured some good details and then it got to a point where I didn’t even understand what was happening as the story just abruptly finished. I actually had to double check that there were no pages to the story as I was very confused by the extremely abrupt ending as well as the length.
I also took issue with the main character as some traits seemed inconsistent or maybe not fully elaborated upon.
The ending seemed clipped. However, if you’re looking for a hot ex-military man involved with underground fighting, Kellan would be the guy. Especially when a feisty reporter turns his world upside down.
I loved💕 Kellen and Parker’s story!! This book has it all, suspense, betrayal, friendship, love , and of course hot🔥 steamy sex. Perfect for an afternoon at the beach or by the pool.
This was a good story about two people, who meet and find that they have more in common than they thought. Parker is a journalist who runs into Wes while she is trying to get the scoop on a story. Parker is at The Sly Fox when she runs into Wes literally when he spills a drink on her. The attraction is immediate and her target happens to slip away. Parker kinda of fibs on what her job is when she says she is a writer when she speaks to West- Wes who is an MMA fighter finds Parker to be someone attractive and intriguing, someone he wants to continue to get to know. Kellan used to be in the military and when Parker finds this out, she wants to know more because that is something she is investigating in her story. There is a bad political figure who is doing harm and she is trying to expose this-with Kellan, she wonders if maybe there is a story there with him. As they continue to see each other, the passion and heat between them is hot, Parker continues her story but she finds out some info that could hurt Kellen and that also could hurt their relationship-will she pursue it and let her job triumph them or will she fight for them and also find a way to have both the relationship and Kellan.
There is a lot of action in this story along with red-hot passion, danger and passion and political intrigue. We also get to read about PTSD in vets and get to see some of how that affects Kellen and how Parker and he deal with this. I enjoyed their love story and how they dealt with the obstacles that were in their path. I would have liked to have seen an epilogue where it showed them maybe 1 year in the future so we could have seen the MC and how life was treating them, otherwise great story. The supporting cast in this story was good and this is my first Sienna Valentine book but it will not be my last.
My rating: 4.4 stars ****

Kellan Jarvis is an ex-Marine who hasn't had the best luck with acclimating to civilian life since separating from the Marines; he's been unable to find steady employment and has been reduced to competing in illegal underground fighting matches making just enough money to barely get by. There is some serious chemistry between him and Parker Jones, a reporter who is trying to get the scoop on a state senator's position regarding a bill that could benefit military veterans.
Parker is immediately attracted to Kellan and wants to do what she can to help better his situation. While working with a colleague on the story, she learns some very interesting information about Kellan's "manager" Vic, who in turn outs Parker as a reporter who is probably only with Kellan just to get a story. The seed of doubt regarding Vic has been planted, but who will Kellan choose to trust?
This was my first time reading Sienna Valentine's work (although I've got a few of her titles on my iPad), but it won't be my last. This story moved at a good pace and had just enough MMA action going on. I liked the deception angle of the story, even though what was going was seven kinds of wrong, although karma does indeed come back on that person. I will say that the sexy times were hot like fire!
I enjoyed the way the book wrapped up, especially how Kellan finally found his purpose and calling in terms of steady employment; and the little tidbit of an update on Slade and Iris was good as well.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I signed up to review this, but being the self-professed cover whore that I am (gorgeous cover right?) and loving MMA romances and such... I thought why not - I'm definitely interested. Well I really enjoyed Kellan and Parker's story. It was a quick read but packed with story without being stuffed too full.
Parker is a reporter and has a chance encounter with Kellan at a bar. She notices his dog tags AND his muscles and he notices the way she really SEES him. When he senses where the night MIGHT go he defaults to his "I break/ruin/damage everything I touch" mentality and harshly pushes her away. Parker is not deterred and the story between them builds from there.
It has insta-love and some book-but-not-real-world moments but it was entertaining, the sex was HAWT, the story sweet and redeeming and had a great overall message. Looking forward to more from this author!
This book starts off with Kellan as a former Marine and current underground MMA fighter about to claim his winnings in the form of a ringside girl. Talk about a hot start to reel you in! Even through this you can already tell that there is more going on with Kellan than meets the eye and even he himself eludes to the emptiness in his life. This is when we are introduced to Parker Jones--a struggling reporter determined to get a story to save her career, even if it means showing a little cleavage to do it. While trying to make her way to a Senator she wants to interview, she runs into Kellan--as in she runs into his body and he spills his beer down her shirt. Light flirting turns into him putting up his defenses when she shows an interest in him, and her pursuing him thinking she can possibly save him. As the story evolves the sparks fly and there are definitely some twists and turns that I didn't see coming. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and definitely reaching for a glass of water to cool me off! After reading this book I'm definitely going to go back and read Slade since there were parts in this book that eluded to that one, and now I'm dying to know what happened before! If you like alpha bad boys that like what they want, when they want it, you will not be disappointed!!
I thought this was a good story. I would have given it more like 3.5 stars. Kellen is super sexy and hot as hell. Gotta love a man who knows how to play a womans body like a fiddle. Kellen is ex military, current underfround MMA fighter who knows he isnt worth anything. Who knows no one will care for him, that he isnt worth anyones time, all he is worth is beating the shit out of people or killing. That is, until, he bumps into a sexy little blonde and spills his drink all over her. After talking to her, he realizes that she is something that he doesnt think, he KNOWS, he does not deserve. But Damnit... he wants her. Parker is a reporter who is trying to get the Senator to back a militay prefernce bill to help returning vets. She follows the Senator to a bar and as she is walking over to try and chat him up, she slams right into the most beautiful man with secrets and pain hidden behind his eyes and an AMAZING ass. She wants, No, she NEEDS to know more about him... she NEEDS to try and save him because a man like that... she just cant walk away from.
God bless Kellen.. he is so sweet and genuinely wants the best for Parker even if the best for Parker is not him.
Also contains a couple of excerpts for "Fighting for Salvation" by Aubrey St. Claire and "Sanctum" by Sienna Valentine, along with the full story of "Slade" by Sienna. "Slade" is a sequel that takes place before Kellan's story. I'm not big on step-brother romances, so it's unlikely I'll be reading it.
"Kellan" is a fast-paced, sexy novel about a marine trying to make it in the world, kicking butt in illegal fighting rings. Parker is a reporter working to change his world and other vets like him by working on a story of the year.
It's a good "don't think" novel with very detailed scenes, both violent and sexual. It's pretty descriptive in the bedroom, so if you're shy, I wouldn't recommend it. If you're looking for a good romp, fast and dirty, get it. You won't regret it.
Edit: I tried reading "Slade," and it is definitely not my cup of tea.
Also, not real sure how unimportant this detail is, but the cover features the same exact picture used for Jen Frederick's "Sacked." Now THAT is a hot story. Grrrrr...
I received an advance reader copy of this book from the Hidden Gems ARC program in exchange for an honest review. The opinions in this review are my own. I loved the way Sierra Valentine created this hero and heroine pair. I think that Parker James is a lot like who I wanted to be when I was in college the first time as an English major. Kellan is the kind of bad boy that a to of women think about never having had the chance to know. There may be a few women who have known or still know a man like Kellan. This story has a little bit of everything, intrigue, suspense, drama and lots of passion! Valentine's scenes are so steamy you will be wanting a old shower of your own. I was relatively unfamiliar with Valentine's writing before finding this book, but I will definitely be looking for more of her works. I recommend this to others that like to live another life through the pages of a book. There are so many aspects of the human experience that Valentine has brought to life in the pages of this story.
In Kellan: A Bad Boy Military MMA Romance, we are reintroduced to Kellan, the step-brother from the book Slade. Kellan is all grown-up now, as an ex-Marine it has been hard for Kellan to find a decent job. Kellan turns to the world of underground MMA (bareknuckle boxing) to make a living. In walks Parker Jones one night into Kellan's life he seems to not be able to get his mind off of her after their very intense meeting. Parker at a bar trying to interview a Senator about a bill that would benefit Veterans. How long can these two fight their attraction? Will Vic, the "dirty manager" try to end Killer Kellan's undefeated reign? Read the book and find out.
I like the way Sienna Valentine spins this tale of bad boy meets good girl the reader in draws to each of the lead characters thoughts and feelings. Only thing I find odd, is the title, even though Kellan is an ex-Marine this book has nothing to do with the military.
I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST RE/VIEW1 AND THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION .... OVER 18 READING THIS WAS A GREAT STORY At first I didn't think I would like Kellan in his winners room, ruff and abusiveness, I thought. I love the way Kellan starts so nice and funny when he first meets Parker James(Jones )a journalist for The Spill. Now she says she is a writer and and he says his work isn't exactly legal but the kind guys like him can get, she smells a story if that is all a vet can get. But as he turns back to a hard a** with her, do to the fact he has been told so much that he is only good to hurt people, I found myself feeling sorry for him and hoping Parker could show him he was worth more, after all the twist and turns of the story,I REALLY LOVED THE END. AND i REALLY HOPE TO READ MORE OF THESE BAD BOYS.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Kellan is an ex Marine who couldn't keep a job after returning from Afghanistan so he resorted to illegal MMA fights. Parker is a reporter who is trying to get a veterans bill passed when she meets Kellan. She starts off thinking that adding his story to the article she is writing about a Senator who doenst support the bill would be a great angle. Only she very quickly starts to fall for the broken, hurting soul that is Kellan. And Kellan falls for the one person who has made him feel like he is more than just a killing machine. The story is relevant to real life and well written, and the way they fall in love sweet. I really liked both of the main characters and the book as a whole. I highly recommend this book.
This is a eye opening book. It makes you think just how much of it is true for our veterans.
Kellan came home from war. He had a hard time holding a job so he was introduced into an illegal fighting ring. He had thoughts that he was not good at anything but fighting and maiming people. It wasn't until he met Parker on a rare night out that he started thinking otherwise.
Parker was a reporter. She had a story she wanted to write about the senator and a bill he was stalling on. When she met Kellan it jsut pushed her even more. But what would happen between Kellan and Parker was not something that you would think.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. A female reporter looking to find her breakout story stumbles across underground fight club. She "seduces" one of the fighters that happens to be a war vet and unable to find honest work. She reveals that the fight club managers are skimming off the top while the fighters are barely making it.
This is a fast read. All of the testosterone lead to crazy hot sex scenes. The part I wish that had been expanded upon was everything involving the political side. I think the characters could have also been deeper.
This was more of a 3.5 read. It was a great build up but I felt the end was rushed and more could have been added to make it even better.
Overall I loved that the story was about and ex-Marine who was having a hard time with things once he became a civilian. This is a common problem among most of our men and women and shedding light on it was great.
The friendship, love and sacrifice in this story was very nice to experience. Overall it was a nice read. I will continue to read books by Author Sienna Valentine.
This book was awesome! It has a great storyline, full of action and suspense, with Kellan being an underground MMA fighter there's definitely violence, but it's about so much more than your typical fighter/romance story too. Although both are stand alone books, I would suggest reading Slade prior to this one if you want to have full understanding of Kellan's background. They're both awesome reads! I definitely recommend this book. I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a honest review.
Wow, I read this after Kellan's story and learned how Slade and Iris ended up together. A lot of sadness, anger, addiction, forgiveness and love!!! Getting through addiction of a loved one and forgiving is a hard step. Slade needed to do that and beg for forgiveness for running out on the family and for using Iris to get back at his father. Loved the ending!!!!
This book was great! Great story line. Think we have all fantasize about the hard MMA fighters. Well here is a story about one. Parker is a journalist who runs literally into Wes. From there it is instant chemistry. tons of passion with these two and in the fight scenes. Parker becomes his number one supporter. Like any girl would. The ending happened kind of sudden. I wanted more but this was pretty good. Great job, will be looking for more books.
Honest review given for the gift of an ARC: This second book that I had been waitin for since meeting Kellan in the first book Slade. I really blasted through this book. Kellan was a great hero and Parker? I never once wanted to slap her. I fell for them as a couple. Just one thing bothered me, their birth control. She still very much could have gotten pregnant. Just sayin Good job Ms.Valentine... I would totally recommend this book
I just loved this story. A hot as sin mma underground fighter who was a former soldier in the military. What's not to love? It's almost a prerequisite that you have to be hot, have the killer body along with killer looks and be really gifted in having a big, you know what I getter stop because I'm getting rather antsy. But I loved the overall sort and the sexy hot times thus fine man had. I'll just leave it at that because I need to take care of myself.
This story is so trite and predictable it wasn't even worth reading. The only reason I finished it was because I have a (bad) habit of finishing every book I read (though I admit, sometimes it takes years).
And the only reason I am still reason this author, whom I've decided is not my cup of tea, is because I bought the first book and it came with three bonus books appended to it ... So I feel compelled to read cover-to-cover and finish all four books. Thank goodness only one more!
I enjoyed this book about the bad boy MMA fighter Kellan and the sweet news reporter, Parker. When they see each other for the first time, they are attracted to each other. Kellan knows he is no good for her so he walks away. Will Parker fight for him or will Kellan keep her away? When a situation around them causes trouble will it be the end of them? I enjoyed this book of instant attraction and steamy chemistry.
