As the Iron Horse journeys ever deeper into its mysterious post-apocalyptic world, the crew encounters a lone knight on a quest to slay a dragon. They mock him at first, but when they arrive at the fog-shrouded city known as Stormwatch, the streets are abandoned, the doors are locked, and the citizens are terrified to leave their homes. One old woman, alone and seemingly insane, confronts the crew with this ominous warning: "Beware the dragon's breath!"
They hear the knight's words echoed in her statement, and begin to realize that things may not be as they appear. Then, as night closes in, strange things begin to happen aboard the Iron Horse. Crew members are attacked by invisible beings and strange, mutated creatures. One by one, they begin to vanish. When it seems things can't get any worse, they realize their adventure has only just begun... and that maybe, just maybe, dragons really do exist.

I loved this book and this series just keeps me asking, "what's next". This has been one detailed adventure for anyone who loves a good fantasy. This author has become one of my favorites! This has been my second series that you've enticed me into reading and I will continue. Love your work, now on to the next adventure ! Thanks, Lynn
The adventure continues on. Some leave and some join the adventure. Either way, I just wish this series would never end. On to what I believe is the last book. Although it wouldn't hurt my feelings if it wasn't. Enjoy!
Very good writing I was right there with River. I was sad the book ended and I can't wait until the next one is out. Very fast pace series. Thank you Jamie Sedgwick keep on writing!
The Iron Horse is chugging along but are beginning to have a fuel problem. If they don’t find Starfall in the next town they may be stranded. There may be starfall in that town, but there is something else no one expected to find, a mysterious fog that causes terrible hallucinations that the residents deem “Dragon’s Breath.”. All the Iron Horse crew members experience the effect, save Socrates. Can they figure out where it comes from to prevent it among their crew? And what about the residents of Stormwall, how do they combat it? Most importantly, will they find fuel to continue on their quest or be stranded in a strange kingdom?
Book three in the Aboard the Great Iron Horse series is jam packed with sword fights, relationship drama, dragon fighting, and intrigue, all in a post-apocalyptic setting with a steam punk twist. While it is book three of a series, I felt that the story stood well on its own, even if you had not read the previous two books (although of course I suggest you do.) The characters gave enough natural plot exposition without being obnoxious and were well written to the point where you engaged immediately. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series as well!
The tinkers and now the iron horse series is a great read I love them. Yes they are easy read but highly fun and the punk syfy make them even more fun. If you have not read any of the start with the first thinker daughter and read from the beginning how this world is working an you will fall in love with this dangerous world and with it charming and evil people. This kind of punk syfy don't have complicated or mystical power all is easy to understand. Read them and enjoy the life and dead of them all.
From Breeze as a young girl to River, her maturing young daughter, Socrates, Kale and Micah, the stories intertwine and grow a lifetime in a few chapters. The two series are well written and thought out, bringing a fun twist to another world that very well could exist. I would love to read the backstory on Micah next.
