Effective HR Communication introduces a six-step 'IMPACT' model to explain and demonstrate the critical steps to be followed when developing a communications campaign. This includes steps such as understanding the communication needs and requirements of employees, developing the most robust objectives, selecting and developing the appropriate medium, planning a campaign in an effective manner, leveraging the support of business partners, developing effective communications content, and measuring the success of the campaign.

Using a combination of theory, examples, tips and tools from leading experts, this book provides practical information which can easily be used to create effective and impactful communications. Case studies from leading organizations such as BT, LV=, Merlin Entertainments and Reward Gateway are included to further illustrate how communication has been done effectively.

I felt the book is a bit basic on the topic. In the new world dominated by digital media, effective communication should cover more strategy and tactics about blending all channels of communication.

This book is called "Effective HR Communication," but really it's a great resource for communication methods and tools in general. Whether you're in HR or managing any project where you need to release communications, Debra is incredibly helpful. I am lucky enough to work with Debra and I know she practices what she preaches--and it works!

It may be a sort of manual for effective communication, but it certainly doesn't read as such, as it's incredibly engaging. The metaphors are certainly relatable (such as comparing project management to managing the production of a large family dinner), and the case studies are interesting. I love the personal touch she adds with her examples as well as the personal touches she adds. She admits she has a competitive streak to her personality which encourages her to begin every communications process with "How can we win an award?"--what a great motivation for a high-rated and successful campaign!

I am lucky enough to be able to get some communication advice from Debra whenever I need, but now you have the opportunity to get a look into her tactics and passion for successful communications.

Companies often spend a lot of time and money with their external communications activities; they may even actively communicate internally but often the way they communicate with their employees about their work can leave a lot to be desired. This book sets out to provide a means for effective HR communications, delivering credible information to employees and even looks at how things may be communicated to prospective employees.

This is a specialist book aimed at HR (human resources) workers. A lot of it could be relevant to others who have to communicate with people generally too. The main aim is to help HR staff communicate efficiently and effectively and central to this is a six-step “IMPACT” model that can be deployed for all communications campaigns. It is further backed up by a host of case studies, featuring leading companies, that show how they have fine-tuned their communications activities.

There was nothing to really dislike about this book. It got straight to the point and started delivering (communicating?) its central messages to the reader in a clear, easy-to-follow and non-contentious manner. In other words, doing effectively what it preaches in other words. Despite being clearly written with a specialist audience in mind, its open, accessible style meant it could be read by any curious reader who could get a lot of useful and interesting information out of it.

There is not a lot more to add. It is certainly worthy of closer consideration!
