I'm Ashja! I've been roaming the earth for thousands of years.
I am a mighty and powerful Djinn—well, I was until I lost my talisman.

"He who holds the talisman controls the Djinn."

Without it, well, let's just say I’m a Djinn on the edge.

Unfortunately for me, the paranormal council in all their wisdom has grounded me. They have ordered me to stay at this godforsaken Halfway House, with only the bare essentials of my powers available until I can locate my talisman. How am I supposed to know where it is? It was dark and I was drunk.

So here I am, stuck between a centaur and a dragon.
If I don't find my talisman quickly, the town and all its occupants might not survive.

On the upside?
There’s one rocking sexy redhead up at the house.
I sure would like her to rub my lamp.
If only I could get to her.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, Ashja, book 4, of the Halfway House series by Dzintra Sullivan. I love this series because of its uniqueness of the paranormal variety, the tender heart depicted through Dzintra's writing, and the loving empathy and the solid unusual family unit. This is a sweet para-romance without being to bloody or sappy. I truly enjoy Dzintra's work, it truly is artistic. Even when the book ends, or you take momentary break from reading, it still weighs on your mind.

Within the story of Ashja, you see two completely unlike persons fumble through their own misery to find themselves drawn to one another. I was on the fence at first with it, especially with our hero, Ashja Deity, being a womanizing dinjin. Than our sweet Abigail Tuft, a beautiful Sasquatch and a meek and mild lady. How can they come together to work through the repair of their broken hearts and missing souls. Both have had their share of abuse and lack of love, but both find their family within the Halfway House and their adoptive den mother Eloise. The struggles will be a challenge to watch, but the ending, minus a few tears will be worth it! I promise you!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book, not only do I love the series but I find the authors writing style to be fresh and entertaining.. A great storyline filled with action, drama, suspense and humour! (this author writes a one liner that will stay with me for days.... douche canoe.. I'm so using that).

Ashja a thousands year old Djinn arrives at the halfway house cocky and full of himself, with limited powers due to his punishment for loosing his talisman.
And oh Man the Halfway House and its family members are not at all what he was expecting...
Abigail whom we met in the previous book Nevaeh, really finds herself and what it truly means to have a loving family, ( Dragons, Witches, Angels and Bears included) a family that is more about choice and love than it is about Blood. And they're very protective to her.. No spoilers

The author has an amazing ability, not just to write a fantastic story, but to fill each page with love and emotions that you feel deep in your heart, one of love and acceptance no matter your past, present or future!

From start to finish.. A captivating story that I couldn't put down, nor did I want too! I laughed, I cried, I cheered! I wanted to pack my suitcase and move in with the halfway house family.. CANT WAIT FOR MORE!!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to any and all Paranormal Romance fans, young, old and anyone in between.. A wonderful series for All ages!

If you haven't read the Halfway House series then start at the beginning with Bk 1 Arkadia.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I LOVED IT!!!!!

I am loving a dijn and I do love Abigail.

The Halfway House series is a great read no matter what your age is! Dzintra Sullivan you are FANTASTIC!!!

I love all the books in this series and this one in particular had me guessing and there were parts when I thought I knew what would happen but it was the other way around.

This book kept me guessing which I love!!! All the occupants in the Halfway House are lovely and I would love living there myself even for all the crazy, fun and scary stuff that happens.

I highly recommend this series and this book to everyone. You will fall in love with Eloise and every person in the house.

Dzintra, a wonderful series for any age and I'm glad I found you online. This series reaches out to young and old alike where all readers can relate to every character in the Halfway House.

Ashja • Dzintra Sullivan

Do you know when you find an author and you start with their first book and enjoy it so you continue to the next? That's what I've done with Dzintra Sullivan. I've read from book one and have seen such an improvement and creative writing from her that I'm so glad I found her books.

The Halfway House Series is definitely a favorite of mine; we meet Ashja who is a djinn. He is the newest member to the family and he has no intention of getting to know anyone in the beginning. All he was worried about was meeting women and sucking their energy from them in the most sexual way. Once he meets Abigail he feels a pull toward her which prompts him to ask her out.

Now I'll tell you now that I adored Abigail when I meet her in book #3 Neveah; this book just confirmed that I still do. She is innocent but also feisty! Abigail is trying to find herself in this story with learning how to be a human again in this century. She finally gets to experience being asked out by not just Ashja but by a stranger Jaspah.

This story pulls you in and gives you some twists and turns that you won't expect. If you have followed this series from the beginning then you get to read what the rest of the family is currently up to. We also hopefully got the start of another book with the twin wolves! I know I can't wait for that one so I'm hoping it happens soon. I hope you give this series a chance and that you end up enjoying it as much as I did!

A Djinn ! wow, this bad boy has some very interesting 'gifts' which he uses expertly and frequently lol.
When Ashja is sent to the HWH as punishment for his behaviour he has no intention of being part of this unusual family, but he has no idea of the lethal threat that is coming.
When a devastating secret is revealed, this bad boy soon realises that family isn't just about blood.
This is the 4th book in the Halfway House Series and this authors use of hilariously witty quips from the characters gives these books added sparkle. Be prepared tho, this is probably the darkest of the series so far, no spoilers but parts of this book left me in shock and in tears.
This authors ability to deliver a story that pulls on all of your emotions leaves me in awe and totally addicted.
The next book can't come quick enough.

Amazing Book...Fantastic Series...Highly recommended

I have been eagerly awaiting on Ashja, book 4 in The Halfway House Series and it lived up to and surpassed my expectations. As with each book before Ashja I laughed and I cried and became totally invested in each and every character.

Dzintra Sullivan has created such a wonderful world for me to get lost in, with fun loving, sometimes mischief making, loyal and family orientated characters. The more I read about The Halfway House the more I want to crawl inside the pages and become a member myself.

I highly recommend this book and I'm impatiently awaiting the next instalment in the series.

Ashja, Ashja, Ashja. You naughty, naughty Djinn you. I'm so glad you finally found what really is important in life. FAMILY. Even if they aren't blood.

Ashja gets sent to the Halfway House without his powers, as punishment from the paranormal council. He definitely starts off his stay with a bang but slowly, his womanising ways are left in the past as he finds what it really means to be part of a family.

I didn't want it to end. Bring on more HWH with Mali and Em's book.

As always I could not wait for this one!!!

I have read every Halfway House book and love how this series and family has grown!!!!

This was the first I've read with a Djinn so I was happy to give it a go, as with each of these in the series I'm left wanting more! Every one of these books are filled with fun and love of true family, not the ones you get but the ones you choose.

I cannot wait to see where my family goes next!!!

Wow, Ashja is quite a character! I fell in love with his bad boy-ness, sense of humour and well his everything lol. Ashja makes a great addition to The Half Way House family and certainly shakes up things around the place.
Underneath his hard outer shell there is a tragic story unfolding between the pages, certainly one that will have you grabbing for the tissues.

**I was given an advanced copy to honestly review**

this series is fantastic and Ashja is by far the best. He's a womanizing Djinn who had been stepped of his powers until he finds his talisman. .....no one suspects it will lead him down this particular path though.
Dzintra Sullivan knows how to write a paranormal romance!

I actually intended to read each book separately and review each one as i went. That so didn't happen!
As soon as i finished Arkadia i started Raven and so on. Dzintra has written a whole world that is fully fleshed out and deep and as you read through this series you feel like you are part of the family experiencing all other their triumphs and and down falls, their love and their loss the Halfway House series is so indepth and flows so smoothly that you can actually see everything and hear everything in your mind as it happens ...Personally i think this series would make a great movie series and even tv series its that good!.Dzintra Sullivan as stunning word smithing skills and has created a world so whole and indepth that i really want this world to exist ( and i want to live there ---- OK maybe not their neighbour though cos i think having a wolf cub pooping on my property may be a tad smelly lol)

Arkadia: A messed up, self absorbed, spell challenged little witch who needs to pass her Paranormal Safety Exams (PSEs) or be banished..Can she get over or get passed what is holding her back to rise above it all and become the young woman/witch she needs to be or will she fail?......A riveting read that pulls you in from the first and wont let you go with twists and turns and danger and one hell of a hot hot dragon shifter a must read!

Raven: A vampire cant be scared of blood can they?..yep they sure can be ask Raven a beautiful soul who also needs to pass her PSEs. But finds out that lies come back and bite you on the bum and can throw your life into even more of a mess than it is already. Enter the hot hot Samuel can he help Raven get over her aversion to blood can he help her sort through the mess that is her life and accept it? ...an exciting read a must have series!

Nevaeh: What to say about her?....Man she is a hard one to love , mind you so would you be if you haven't experienced love before ..Can Nevaeh face her challenges pass her quest will she choose love or duty? Loved Her story so much! Loved to see the growth in this beautiful lippy outspoken little angel with a heart so big!!

Ashja: Well well well what to say about Ashja?..Personally i wanted to smack him upside the head a few times he is arrogant, he is cocky he is adorable, he is caring, he is a force to be reckoned with who needs to learn the lessons he doesn't think he needs to learn, But will he?

I do feel that special mention needs to be made of Eloise and Rumor These ladies hold the Halfway house together one with pure love the other with her tough as nails outlook without these two i do not think the halfway house series would be complete. personally i would've loved a mother who was the exact mix of these to wonderful strong powerful caring women.

Another fantastic read by one of my favourite authors

Ashja is the fourth book in the Halfway House series by Dzintra Sullivan and is one of my favourites.

 photo 27410260_zpsqqeyrf2x.jpg

This is a book that I more than enjoyed, I inhaled it quickly turning each page to find out what happens next. Dzintra's writing style and talent shines through in this book with a sweet, emotional, love-fuelled but gripping paranormal tale.

 photo c79f0ba4b5b5d69fbfc95a422fd3081b_zps3dpmtm0d.jpg

Ashja is a very old Djinn, who has lived many lifetimes, and arrives at the Halfway House as a cocky, arrogant, big headed, and not so nice man. Due to a punishment inflicted on him for losing his Talisman he arrives with very limited powers, but being a smart Djinn, he knows how to steal power by sucking other people's energy.

In comes Abigail and Ashja immediately feels that pull toward her. This is a gorgeous sweet and innocent girl who is learning to live her life again in a different century.

Bring on the next book in this series, Mali & Em, I cannot wait to read the next instalment. We see some of Mali & Em in this book as well.

Paranormal romance, love, family and lessons learned, there is a little of everything in this book, and I for one, loved it. This is a five star plus read for me.

Firstly I am enjoying the Halfway Series from Dzintra Sullivan. This is her 4th in this series and for me it was a little darker and more grown up an the other previous 3 books. Her sex references are a little more graphic but not much however not for anyone under the age of 16 I would hope.

She weaves the same magic of young love, angst and family values in to the story however you know in the end some how you will have a HEA, Dzintra just takes you on a journey to get there.

The Story

I received an ARC for an honest review.

This is book 4 in the Halfway House series, and it was better than the last!

A new member arrives at the Halfway House, and in true loaner fashion he (Ashja) looks down on the residents of the house. Little does he know-the 'family' life is exactly what he needs. He has been sent there as a punishment for loosing his talisman.

Abigail, (who we first met in the last novel, Nevaeh) is trying to adapt to her new found life-both with the change in times and to her new family. Suddenly she has 2 suitors-what's a young para to do?? Date them both, of course! However, things don't go as she hopes and in true halfway house form she finds herself in trouble. Will the family be able to save her?

Read the book and find out-you won't be disappointed! If you haven't started this wonderful series-Book one is Arkadia. All can be read as stand-alone novels, but are better read in order.

WOW!! I am loving this series and this one has to my my fav by far! But all the books so far have been freaking AMAZING.. You will just have to read the series to see how amazing it is for yourself.. I have been told 7 books to this series .. Now you can't end a series like this you need to keep going and going and going .. I WANT MORE! I wont be happy if it ends at 7 books.. I would be happy with a spin off series but i truly am loving this series.. If i could give it more than 5 stars I would!

Wow!! Ashja was AMAZING... I couldn't stop reading and at the same time didn't want this book to end. Just love the Halfway House Series and can't wait to read more :)

Ashja is Djinn who has lost his tailsman. A tailsman, that who ever holds can control him. The Council as punishment have removed his power. Then if that isn't bad enough placed him at the Halfway House. He's having a hard time fitting in. He must find his tailsman before it too late...

This fourth book in the Halfway House series is fantastic!

Abigail, now fully restored to human form, is trying to come to terms with her new life. Enter one brash Djinn who has had most of his powers stripped! The attraction is sizzling until it isn't!

The wonderful sense of humour Dzintra Sullivan injects into this story is like a balm, so much fun but also making you feel good at the same time. Action packed scenes provide some tense, exciting moments. There is a twist or two at the end that will amaze you.

This fast paced, easy to read story is thoroughly entertaining and delightful.

I look forward to reading the next book.

The djinn have arrived!

Ashja has come to the Halfway House and things get interesting. Dzintra Sullivan tells the most incredible stories. You get so fascinated you lose time. I always find it interesting how she weaves all these mythical characters together to form such a normal community.

First of all, I have to say that even though I'm a blogger I bought this book. In fact, I've bought every book in Halfway House series.
I didn’t wake up until about midday today. Why? Well, that’s Dzintra Sullivan’s fault. She kept me awake until after 3 am because I had to finish Ashja, the fourth book in the Halfway House series, and then I couldn’t get to sleep.
I’ve decided that Ashja is my second favourite book in this series. The first book, Arkadia, is my favourite because one, this is the book that introduced me to this paranormal world which I love and two, because I have a thing for dragons. You can blame Christopher Paolini and Anne McCaffrey for that.
Dzintra Sullivan is able to transport me to a world in which I get lost in the story and become invested in the characters who are different from those I come across in everyday life. But even though each one of them is different because of their unique backgrounds, they have thoughts and feelings which influence my own. They become “real” people, characters I either love or hate.
But it’s not just the characters and the stories I love, it’s the Halfway House itself. The inhabitants, in particular, Eloise, the house mother make each book a story about family and love. The Halfway House just isn’t a house, it’s a home.
I will admit that I didn’t like Ashja when I started reading this book. I think it would be fair to say to I didn’t like him at all, but as I slowly got to know him and his background, I wanted him to have a better life.
Ashja’s journey during his very long life has not been an easy one, and it definitely wasn’t a predictable one. I love the one he interacted with the other house members and I love the way those interactions changed as this book progressed.
My favourite line: “He seriously needed his lamp rubbed”.
I gave Ashja 5 stars because I couldn’t give it more.
