Alien Warrior's Mate

Rate this book
He's damn impossible and he won't stop at anything to claim her...

Deliya is one of the best of the best. An elite warrior, few things have ever phased her. She works hard and plays hard, all for the day when fates decide it's time for her to meet her fated mate. But what if there's one man in this blasted universe who just won't stop getting under her skin? What if she can't help but lust after him? Fates be damned, isn't that what's important?

Driven to always succeed, Darien is one of the commander's chosen few. Above all his fellow warriors, he serves at the leisure of his general. But lately, someone else has been commanding his time... Mad with need to claim her sexy body as his own, Darien will not stop at anything in his quest to keep Deliya safe. And more importantly, as his own. Fates be damned, he will have that woman.

When death lurks behind every stone and in the hands of every enemy they encounter, can Darien and Deliya find their love, or will death claim them first?

Alien Warrior's Mate is a standalone book with a happy ever after ending and no cliffhanger. There's plenty of steam in this book and unless you love pantymeltingly hot sex, you might want to steer clear... Or at least brace yourself for a hell of a ride!

The Brion warriors are born to fight and are ferocious.Every Brion warrior had the skin of their neck adorned with their valor squares, signs of rank and power, pulsing out light and sound and sometimes scent to attract their prey.
Deliya is one of the best, Darien is one of the Commanders chosen few and he wants Deliya but she's known as the ice queen so he's got his work cut out for him.
This book starts as they're walking into battle and the whole first part of the book is taken up with battle. It's a lot of fighting for a short book but it gives is an insight into the Brion and sets the stage nicely for the full length books to follow.
It's an ok read it's hard to pull off a short book like this when so much of it takes place in hostile territory but these two are nice characters and they have some hot scenes.

I've been browsing through a few of Vi Voxley's books and I have to say that her characters were really good. I really loved them. The heroines were strong, independent, beautiful and really mature. The heroes were obviously hot but really real alpha males.. like super ALPHA powerful males. It was H.O.T!!! The chemistry was off the chart and developed really really well. Same with this book. I liked Deliya and Darien and I liked them together. The story was good. The book was a bit short but well-rounded and well-written. The book got to the point quite quickly which was about the attraction between Deliya and Darien. It could be a little confusing because there was nothing description about the world-building or what when how why. The action was SO GOOOOOOODDD though!!! The only problem I had was the way the book was written. I felt like there was an unknown third person narrating the story. Perhaps, there was too little name-mentioning in the book. I was just used to see a lot of Name-mentioning. Many characters are called commander, general, captain, chieftain and so on... it gave me such an impersonal feeling. We didn't get some of their names. Even commander's name was mentioned about twice(?).

4 STARS!!!!

Boring

I know this is a prequel, but it is a bit on the boring side. It describes a battle on an I e planet for most of the book but it is supposed to lead up to the recognition of their fated mates which FINALLY happens, but I just wish there was a better way the writer could've done that. I'm thinking it is how the book is written that I didn't care for. It seems a bit - what's the word? - flowery???

I wanted to truly love this book but it just didn't grab me. In starting the story I was immediately thrown into some sort of battle scene with absolutely no preamble to the characters and world, so right from the start I was lost on the basic who, what, where, when and why's of the story. This seems to be the habit of a lot of authors these days, how are we to fall in love with your characters and world if we know nothing about them? Even as the story progressed we don't get a clear picture. The actual writing was very good, but the story telling was very bad. The POV's were all over the place in one moment it's one of the main characters and the very next it's an outside POV. When you are at a point in the story where we are to be "hearing" the POV of one of the main characters they are not going to refer to themselves as he/she they will say I. I wanted to really like this first story I read by author Vi Voxley but the story was just missing so much, there is potential but I need to feel the characters not be told about them in order to feel some sort of connection to them. Show me don't tell me. I will try another book later to see if there has been some improvement, but this book was just lacking in so many important ways that I just didn't care about the world or characters.

I usually read paranormal books and watch sci-fi but every now and then a chance to read a potentially good sci-fi book pops up and I just have to take a chance…

The Brion are a warrior race that reminds me of the Klingons with their honor and the desire for glory on the battle field. These Brion believe in fated mates and only the males are capable of recognizing their mates, so Deliya is reluctant to invest her time and heart in Darien since it appears that she is not his mate, I can’t blame her for that. But I am really glad she did let him into her room all the same because the steam coming of my tablet from the sexy bedroom scene, that took up several chapters, that was also almost a battle of wills as Darien got Deliya to admit her attraction.

I felt like the author, Vi Voxley, put a lot of thought into every detail of her story, from the snowy battle field of Antara to the valor squares that signify rank and are tied into the emotions of the warrior they are imbedded in. The was a great deal to really like and enjoy about this book and I am looking forward to reading this one, as well as the other books in the series, again at a later date.

Another great book by Vi Voxley. I love this series and the continuation with the Corgons. Each one adds to the story and fills it out a it more. I hope she continues this series with more Corgons or perhaps Plasians. One aspect of her books that I really like is that they are not rushed and there is more than one climatic scene. The romance and sex is there, but it is a part of the whole, not the story as an excuse for the sex. I would recommend this book to friends and already recommended it to my daughter who likes sci-fi as much as I do.

Vi, write more of these!!

I read this in a romance bundle via KU that is no longer available and that included books 3, 4, 1, 5 and 6 from the series. Here were my thoughts on the bundle:

I really wanted to give this a 5, really. But there were a lot of little things, and a couple major things, sprinkled throughout that just made me make a star away. My overall I impression in very high, but I think these books suffer when read back-to-back or as a boxed set. The 1st and 5th novels were by far the best-- the characters, backstroke, and plots had more development and depth. The 3 in the middle felt short and flat, bringing nothing truly new to the table I.e., it's a nice read if you are familiar with the characters but I can't imagine they would read well as a stand-alone since nothing really big happens with them. Also, the first 4 books had some really bad editing errors. Only minor errors in the 5th.

***The Cons***
(Please forgive me if I misspell the names as I'm working from memory.) Also, potential SPOILERS.

Deliya's story is unremarkable because we don't know enough about her to care about her and the ending is incredibly perfunctory. Leiya's story is interesting because of the whole "opposites attract" thing, but too much time was devoted to back story such that the connection between them was harder to buy into. Eurinya's story had so much potential but came off as boring because it read like someone else was reporting on what happened to her, rather than experiencing the story through that character's perspective.

There are several phrases, concepts or themes that are so repetitive that they are irritating. I am sure that the reader did most of them so that anyone could read any one book and understand what's going on. However, for serial or boxed set readers it is annoyingly repetitive. It might have been better to include a one-page primer that new readers could view to understand stuff and experienced readers could choose to skip.

If you are offended by crass language, you should stay away from these books. I usually don't mind if appropriate for the context, but I felt the use of some terms actually took something away from a love situation where it is already hard to find the romance.

***The Pros***
The 1st and 5th stories were SO enjoyable that the cons did not matter as much to me. Those 2 stories made the read worthwhile and made them real standouts in this genre. The author's writing is fluid and comprehensive. The concept is creative and interesting. If I had read only these 2 books I would have rated it 5 stars.

It was an okay read. I was a little disappointed that the heroine kept getting easily distracted by the hero during battle and then making mistakes that put her life in danger. She was supposed to be a great warrior but it didn’t seem like it when she had to be saved multiple times over the course of the book.

Building Block Book

This is a decent intro to the series. I love the Brion aliens, love the actual General books much more than I did the first two shorter books. The world and culture built here is a good building block for much better books later.

I was given this book in exchange for my honest opinion and a review.

Vi Voxley is a new author too me i was very excited to read this book i do love me some aliens, i have had prior book loves in this genre so of course to find another great author is always a plus.

This story centres around two people Deliya and Darien we get to no them and there fantastic story.

Deliya is a fierce-some kick butt female warrior she is also an extremely dedicated soldier for the Brion army which she serves on.

But she has found herself caught up in a battle between the ground with the Antaris people and well her own heart. The Brion women have always been just as equal as there men, And well both sexes have there needs in all ways of there life, and of course they get met.

Love is an entirely different matter and one could say it is met with a heap load of resistance.

Darien he is one of the chosen warrior's of the Commander. Now Darien he is Deliya’s male counterpart ad then some, both of them together wowza truly amazing. Both have equal amounts of passion and heck desires that burn each other up.

But does the commander know a little something that they dont?

Are they truly fated mates? Could a slip-up change it all?

Will they get HEA that they deserve?

I really enjoyed the storyline it is good and has room to become great. it took me a little to get in to in the beginning but non less its fab read. I believe that we need to see more of the relationship and its development and less of the battles.

“Alien Warrior’s Mate” is book 1 in the Brion Brides series and I found it enjoyable. It opens with warriors of Brion preparing to go into battle, and Deliya is helping to lead the charge. Told in the first person, we quickly learn that Deliya’s fierce reputation as a warrior holds her in high esteem (and fear) from those she interacts with. And with any story about warriors or the military, the interactions that take place whether it be fighting or … (grins), it’s going to be intense and Voxley does not disappoint.

General story likes: Strong, able-bodied female warrior; the descriptive elements of the different species, locations; powerful male lead; the fact that they both seem to fight their attraction for each other; hot sex scenes.

General warnings for those who don’t care for intense or graphic sex scenes, this story has them and they’re grand fun, but if they bother you, then you may want to skip the scenes. Also, for those who don’t normally read stories told in the first person, the style of storytelling can often come across as almost journalistic, which can come across as less engaging for the reader.

But overall, enjoyed the story and my thanks to the author for gifting me with a copy in exchange for an honest review. Looking forward to checking out her next book.

Vi Voxley's Writing is Hot, Steamy, Thrilling, Intense, ...Did I mention HOT!!!!

I received this book in exchange for my fair and honest opinion and review.

This is my first Vi Voxley book. And I will guarantee it won't be the last! 5 Stars all the way.

Her characters are fierce, brave, strong, loyal, dominant and still sensitive, caring, vulnerable and open to hurt. The chemistry sizzles between Darien and Deliya from the very first meeting. The heat from these characters is full of passion and desire. One could only dream of this for their very own.

While I rarely ever read books with a lot of military action in them, this was a thrilling adaptation of the military that I could really get involved with. And the sex...OMG! The sex was Steamy Hot! I almost passed out from reading it...Lol I look forward to reading a whole hell of a lot more from this terrific Author. A must have book for every alien romance lover!

A strong Heroine! Yes! Deliya is a fierce warrior and dedicated soldier for the Brion army. She is caught between the battle on the ground with the Antaris people and her heart. Brion women are as equal as the men. They both have needs in all areas of life, and they do get met. Love is one area that is strangely different and could be met with resistance to appear as an act of desperation. Darien is a chosen warrior of the Commander. Darien is Deliya’s male counterpart. These two together are an amazing couple. They both have passion and desires that flood each other. Does the commander know something they do not? Are they fated mates? Will one slip-up change all of this? The storyline is good. Little bit confusing in the beginning. I hope to read more relationship development and not so much battles. Great read from Vi Voxley.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

While I read pretty much everything, I'm normally not a big fan of the sci-fi genre, however Vi Voxley is definitely an exception and is one of my new favorite authors!

Deliya is a strong female lead, and I love that she's a warrior. I haven't been able to find many books where the heroine is a warrior/fighter/etc, so that alone drew my interest to this book. Things just got better from there! I absolutely loved Darien. He's the perfect match for Deliya. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop, and how they dealt with all of the danger surrounding them. No spoilers, but I will say this book has an HEA and no cliffhangers.

I'm really looking forward to seeing more from this author.

Vi Voxley is a new author for me and after reading Alien Warrior's Mate, I believed she now has a new fan. Other readers mentioned that the beginning of the story is somewhat confusing and yes, I do agree with that. There was some data overload as Ms Voxley tried to lay the groundwork for world building. However once you passed that phase, the rest of the book is quite a pleasant and sexy read. I really enjoyed reading the H/h who are both such strong Alpha characters. Looking forward to more books from this series. I highly recommend any Sci-Fi romance lovers to give Vi Voxley a try.

ALIEN WARRIOR'S MATE BY VI VOXLEY

I enjoyed the build-up of her characters as it draws your attention into the story with action,thought-provoking questions, humorous dialogue and steamy scenes bringing a well rounded story. I enjoy alien worlds of different types and backgrounds and have many in my library, this series will be added to my favorite list. Love strong, sassy female characters that gives the males a challenge. I recommend you check out for yourself and see what is going on with each addition as you can read as a standalone with no cliffhangers but I recommend you check out the whole series!

Just Okay

The concept of the alien race (Brions) that this author offers is somewhat original. The beginning of the book was a bit boring but I think it somewhat helps the reader to understand the Brion species better and reminds them that they are nothing like humans in the emotions department. Now the love story between Deliya and Darien was okay but not extremely interesting. The story could have been integrated in the second book, "Alien Warrior's Wife" which I also read. The author's writing does get better in the second book for those who complained about her writing in this book. I suggest read the second book as well. It's short like this one but has a much better storyline.

I read the third book in this series first and I have to say that it was much stronger than this one. The main problem was that it seemed like it just went on and on. The paragraphs were half page monsters and the battle drug on forever. We get very little of the couple actually interacting one on one and all of that is taken up with sex. There was no actual romance or relating. I almost stopped reading and but hung in there, skimming heavily. If you give this a try and it doesn't grab you, I highly recommend the third book which is much longer but a wonderful slow burn with great world building.

Book 1 Deliya and Darien
This is a great start to the brides series. This book is different to other alien romances. In this book both Hh are alien of the same race. Broin are a warrior race the protect other plants and galaxies. Deliya is a respect leader and responsible for her own warriors. Darien is a trusted elite commander and is sent to places that need extra support or more leadership.
Hh annoy each other quite a lot before the sexual tension almost kills them.
Hh suit each other well and the sex scene we're very hot and heavy. Sure panty melter.
Great HEA but may have liked a epilogue.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This was a new author for me so I was happy to read and review. I was intrigued by the “new” world created by Ms. Voxley and it was nice to read about a “strong” heroine, one who can match the hero in battle. Deliya and Darien do battle together before they get their HEA. And the road to their HEA takes a few twists and turns and that’s the part I enjoyed. I liked the book and recommend. It intrigued me enough to want to read more of this series, if the author writes ‘em.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book at first. I thought it started a little slow, battle scenes not withstanding, but then at some point my interest kicked in, probably due to finally getting some interactions between Darien and Deliya, especially those bedroom interactions! Turns out I really like this book. I would have loved some more of their story but I enjoyed this quick read anyway and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The further I read into the book, the better it got. Both, Darien and Deliya are Warriors, there to fight for and protect their people, so both characters are very strong. They are attracted to each other, but it does not seem like they are fated to be together, or are they? I really like how the author intertwined science fiction, fighting, sexual chemistry, humor, and love into one book. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review. This is a very good start to the series.

I don't normally read a lot of Sci-fi romance books. Mainly because I find they usually hold very little real romance to them. That being said I find this book pretty much the same. No real romance. However I must say I did like the characters and the story very well. It have a good flow to it and was well written. Though lacking the romance it makes up for with plenty of action to keep your interest. I recommend this book for reading..
