Wrapped in Lace

When I was a little boy, the best thing about the holiday season was unwrapping presents on Christmas morning — tearing off the paper and tossing it on the floor. Now that I’m a man, I like to unwrap slowly, deliberately, taking my time to savor what lies before me. I still like to throw the wrapping on the floor, but now I know the best gifts come wrapped in lace. And unlike when I was a kid, I won’t get sick of this present by New Year’s. I’ll definitely be playing with this girl day after day after day. After six years avoiding my hometown, the last thing I expected when I returned was a wannabe bad girl to unwrap my heart and rip open my soul. But that’s exactly what happened. Now if I can just get the hell out of my own way, maybe I’ll finally get the best gift of all — her! Come get unwrapped by Drew this holiday. If hot sex or dirty language bother you — this book isn’t for you.

Its been a while since I read romance with drama and angst. I would have DNFed the book but the dialogue and writing kept me interested.

Small town romance between childhood friends who meet again and realise there is more. h seemed more into H than vice versa. H was certainly into h sexually but not enough in terms of the love connection, IMO and he hurt h a few times just by being so clueless or not being into her enough. Anyway it was like being on a small roller-coaster and I was glad it ended.

Wrapped In Lace by Prescott Lane
Adult Contemporary. Takes place over the Holidays. Standalone.
4.5 Stars
Wrapped in Lace by Prescott Lane is a perfect holiday read, but can be enjoyed all year long. It has all the things I love in a book: It's sweet, sexy, has a little angst, made me laugh and grin throughout, has side characters I absolutely love, and the main couple is great.

As Piper ends another crappy date that one of her well meaning friends or family set her up on, she sends a note to all of them asking them to never do it again. Then she makes her way to Hank's Bar to drink off her crappy date.
"I'd rather die a sad, lonely cat lady than endure another date from hell."

Drew is making it home for the holidays for the first time in 6 years. He has been avoiding his back-stabbing big brother and his cheating bitch of an ex-girlfriend, but when his Nana called to ask him to drive the 3 hours to the small Christmassy town in North Carolina, he couldn't say no. As he gets closer to town, he realizes he needs a drink, at a place where nobody knew him. So he stops at Hank's Bar.

The same bar Piper came into demanding her favorite drink.
"Hard not to notice a woman demanding an orgasm."

Drew immediately perked up and couldn't keep his eyes off the beautiful woman who somehow felt familiar. After some cute banter, Drew was hooked.
"She wasn't just adorable, she had a smart mouth. I always did have a weakness for a woman with a smart mouth."

After a night of drinking, banter, and some major flirtation, Piper was gone. Drew wanted her, but like Cinderella, she was gone, and he had no name. Coincidentally she turned up again, where he learns that Piper was his best childhood friend, his first kiss, and the first girl he loved. But she had moved away at 13 to be with her mother. No wonder they felt a connection.

They certainly explored that connection now...and it was way more than the kiss when he was 14! Holy cow, can Drew do the dirty talk...and dirty actions! Me likey.
"My favorite Christmas present came wrapped in lace."

While Wrapped in Lace has a sort of insta-love, it's not really. They loved each other as kids, so its more of a second chance/friends to lovers book. Besides, I met my husband over Christmas break and knew he was the one within days.

Wrapped in Lace quote
Likes:

•I love banter!
•Had me smiling throughout.
•The grandparents...I want to be Nana when I get old.
•I loved Drew and Piper.
•Hot sex.
•Mmmmm....dirty talker.
•Pearls...and making fantasies come true.
•Childhood friends/crush turned lover is always fun.
•Strong editing.

Dislikes:

•Drew went from being alpha to getting a little bit pussy-like in the end. But that's OK. His tongue makes up for that ;-)~
•It was not very unique.

The Down & Dirty:
Wrapped in Lace by Prescott Lane is a perfect holiday romance, but can be read any time of year. It's very sexy, sweet, fun and has great banter, dirty talking and some angst. While most of the story points are very typical, Prescott did a great job of making it feel unique, sexy and fresh.
"When something's broken, fix it. Don't throw it away."

~ 5 Holiday Stars ~

If you are looking for a sweet holiday love story, then you don't want to miss out on Prescott Lane's Wrapped In Lace. She gave us such a great second chance/friends to lovers story, that you couldn't help but have a huge smile on your face.

Now don't get me wrong, she gave us a great storyline with lovable characters but we also got our fair share of drama and angst. It was the perfect combination so you couldn't help but keep turning the page to see how the story played out. This was a fairly quick read, but it wasn't like most of the holiday books out there, in the sense of length. Most are usually novella length, this one is a full length novel, but it wasn't too long that things dragged on. I thought the flow and pace of the story was perfect. I know it definitely got me in the Christmas spirit :)

Wrapped in Lace is the third book by Prescott Lane that I have read and I truly think her writing improves with each book she writes. I have truly enjoyed each of her books, but I think this one might just be my favorite. I loved how real this story felt and how relatable the characters were. She showed us the good side of family but she also showed us that families have problems too. It isn't always sunshine and roses. She made me feel like I was a part of this story. My emotions were all over the place.

In this book we meet Drew and Piper. Drew has been away from his family hometown for the past 6 years because of something that happened with his family in the past. He is forced to come back for the Christmas Holiday, because his Nana is missing him. On his way back into town, to avoid seeing his family too soon, he stops over at the local tavern Hank's. While he is there he sees Piper and is instantly drawn to her. She looks and feels familiar to him for some reason, but can't figure out why. Throughout the night Piper and Drew hit it off and things get a little steamy, but after Drew falls asleep, Piper takes off, without giving Drew her name. Determined to seek her out later after seeing his family, to say he was shocked to see her at the family dinner that next night is an understatement. What it turns out is that Drew and Piper used to be Best Friends (and secretly in love with each other) as kids over 10 years ago, but Piper was forced to move with her mom when she was a teenager. So this is where the story turns into the second chance love story, because both of them feel it's a second chance to see where things go. I loved watching these two characters reconnect. Drew was so sweet and lovable. He had his flaws and his trust issues and Piper also had some insecurities that got in the way at times, but for the most part these two worked well together. I loved how Piper would stand up to Ellie and Rob when she had to, even though afterward her insecurities would flare up and make her doubt things. The biggest problem these two had was communication. If they would've just talked to each other sooner, things would've been much smoother for them.

I enjoyed most of the secondary characters in this story. I have to be honest and say I think Prescott has an amazing talent in giving her readers secondary characters that are just as great as the main characters. Every character you meet her books serve a purpose to her stories and I love that!!!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for the holiday read or is a fan of friends to lovers/second chance romance books. This book has a little bit of everything and will leave you with a big smile on your face. Prescott Lane has become a go to author for me and I will continue to read whatever she writes :)

4.5 Feel Good Stars!

The Review:
I’ve read other books by this author and she always makes the reads so worthwhile, bringing both feeling and amazing characters to her stories. But with this book, I saw some serious growth both as a writer and a storyteller as she explores the connection between two best friends who lost contact with one another only to be reunited ten years later, giving us a sharp and witty heroine and a passionate and caring hero. She fills their story reconnection story with fun, excitement and angst. Wow! I just loved this read!

Story/Characters...
Drew has come home after being away for six long years. He was betrayed in the worse way possible and has kept his distance from the family that was once his rock and the town that once held his future.

Piper has been home for a little over a year now after being swept away ten years ago. She’s lived a full life at the young age of twenty-four but she loves the peacefulness of small town life and she wants to help take care of her grandfather.

Drew and Piper were once childhood best friends and reconnecting after all these years has sparks instantly firing. I loved these two so much. The were exciting with some incredibly funny dialogue and witty banter. Their chemistry was amazing and individually you just couldn’t help but feel for them, what’s they’d been thought and what they were going through. Both of them a bit complex and broken but also charming and thrilling.

Did I mention how much I loved them?

The only time this read became questionable as to whether I’d give it five stars or not was the conflict between Drew and Piper towards the end. I know miscommunication is a key element in these kinds of reads but the way Drew handled the situation by not listening to anyone, including his mom, his Nana, Davis, his brother and especially Piper when she originally tried to talk it out, made him look a bit immature and cowardly. I understood Piper’s reluctance to talk to him. Her past prevented her from seeing through her abandonment issues to realize all that pain could have been avoided just by talking. It just seemed like unnecessary drama for the sake of drama when they had plenty of other difficulties to overcome.

Regardless of that very small portion of the book, I loved this read so much! It made me giddy. I laughed. My heart broke for both Piper and for Drew at various moments within the read. I felt pain for them and I felt the betrayal when they felt it. All that was due to the quality writing Prescott Lane presents. She totally brought the “feels” and angst and also brought the funny and the swoon.

The Wrap Up:
This was definitely a feel good story that captivated me from the moment I started reading it. It’s crafted beautifully with a solid story, sweet, funny and sexy-steamy moments that made me fall in love with Drew and Piper. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. It had everything that makes a read great with all my favorite elements! I've already added this one to my re-read pile and I can't wait for round two!

Wrapped in Lace is a sweet holiday romance, reuniting 2 long lost friends and giving them both a second chance at love.

6 years ago Drew left his hometown and everyone he loved behind, vowing to never return. But at the request of his Nana he’s come back to McAdenville, NC for Christmas , where he will face not only the reason that caused him to run, but one that may just give him the motivation to stay.

Sometimes you just need a feel good book that will allow you to escape from the real world for a few hours and Wrapped in Lace does just that- the story is completely engaging and the characters are so well-developed, I want to be a part of their lives…I’m ready to pack my bags and move to Christmas Town, NC!

I’m such a fan of second chance romances and Prescott Lane has done a terrific job with this book. Not only do Piper and Drew have their second chance at love, Drew has a chance to let go of past hurts and really move on with his life.

Wrapped In Lace is a wonderful holiday romance story about two childhood best friends who are unexpectedly reunited in their hometown during the Christmas holiday after being apart for ten years, and their discovery of the holiday season's magical gift of receiving a chance at love.

Author Prescott Lane weaves a beautiful romantic tale that takes the reader on a emotional roller coaster ride as they follow Drew and Piper's love story. Their story is set in the small southern town of McAdenville, North Carolina, nicknamed Christmas Town USA. Told in alternating first person narratives by Drew and Piper, their reuniting is wrought with family drama, hurt, betrayal, forgiveness, and the amazing discovery of unrequited love fulfilled, it is a story that tugs at the heartstrings, but will also make the reader a believer in the ability of finding true love.

The story has enough drama, romance, angst, betrayal, difficult personal and family issues, and a swoon worthy best friends reuniting and discovering true love theme that will easily captivate the reader's attention. You can't help but feel compassion for Drew and Piper as their story unfolds with intriguing twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages, and hoping that they will get their chance at love. I loved how the author draws the reader into Drew and Piper's story with flashbacks to their childhood past intertwined with the present filled with emotional family drama, and a slow smoldering craving and build up of sexual tension that leads up to a passionate romance that will send tingles down your spine. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the author's rich description of the setting, she easily transports the reader to the small southern North Carolina town known for its holiday decorations, it is sure to get them in the holiday spirit.

Wrapped In Lace is a beautiful holiday romance story of true love and moving forward in life that will resonate with you for a very long time.

Five 'Bad Girl' stars.
I must admit this is such a cute and romantic Christmas story.

Drew
Ahh Drew is such a cute guy, who has been hurt badly, and he just needed the right person to make all his pain go away. He had no idea what awaited him back at his hometown.

Piper
Piper is the ('bad') good girl, who was willing to be a 'bad girl' just for Drew.

The story is beautifully written and it has the right amount of sex, romance, drama and a holiday spirit. And what made me love the book even more is the fact that it wasn't dragged out, like some other books tend to be.

Wow, what a page turner! I absolutely loved Piper and Drew's story. It is full of drama, romance, hurt and hope. A perfect story line and well developed characters has made it even better. Story flows flawlessly and kept me absorbed in it from the very beginning until the end. At times it was sad at others so full of passion and love. It's definitely and must read for romance lovers. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

P.S. I received a complementary copy of this book.

There was some family drama, but it was believable and made sense based on the story. I think my favorite character was Drew's Nana - she was so funny! ☆☆☆☆ 5 Stars ☆☆☆☆

Wrapped In Lace was beautiful, sexy and gratifying. Drew and Piper were smoking hot together. Their love for each other was purely sweet and satisfying. I love love this book so much. This is by far Author Prescott Lane’s best work yet.

 photo WrappedInLace-Teaser1.jpg

Drew and Piper were the best of friends when they were little. They have been there for each other since they were just kids. When they were six Piper wanted to be part of the boys so much, she went camping with them knowing she was afraid of the dark. She never made a peep no matter how scared she was, but she didn’t have to say anything Drew knew she was afraid. So he made her light, by bringing two jars of fireflies to keep her from being afraid and stayed outside her tent and held her hand all night. They were the best of friends like that. They were inseparable, until at the age of 14, Piper had to move away that they had no choice but to separate. They tried to keep in touch through letters, until they couldn’t anymore.

Years later…all grown up, their reunion was unexpected and they flirted their night away. It didn’t take long for them to click back into the friendship they had when they were kids and it didn’t take long for their love to come out full blown. But will they figure out how to be together with their past trying to catch up to them? Read and find out.

 photo WrappedInLace-Teaser2.jpg

This has been one of the sweetest stories I’ver ever read and I couldn’t help but love it from the beginning to end. Drew and Piper’s story kept my attention at every page and loving every moment they had together. Drew and Piper were so hot together, you can feel their love and heat burning through the pages. Their love and journey from when they were kids to their adult life was such a beautiful story to read. I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed this book and I can’t wait for what Prescott Lane will come up with next. =)

There hasn’t been a Prescott Lane book that hasn’t had me smile and cry and this one is no exception. I love the story of Drew and Piper. What Drew went through was horrible with Rob and Ellie.

Ellie did not like. I actually feel sorry for rob and that is saying something. I mean after what he did I didn’t think I could forgive him but he is stuck with this witch even though for some reason he loves her no idea why so I feel for him.

Piper was sweet and precious. So honest and just what Drew needed. She helped him find his way through the nightmare of 6 years ago and find himself again. She helped him see what love is. Love from someone other than family. She showed him the way to peace and happiness. It was sad that all those years ago she had left the area because I would have loved to have seen that alternative story. Would Drew have gone on to become who he is? Or would he have not used his potential? Not sure but the story is beautiful as is.

Drew’s grandma is a hoot. She is feisty and funny. She helped Drew find his way to acceptance.

this is a love story that will have you smile, cry and laugh. Watching two people reunite after being apart and see the love still there is so amazing. Prescott Lane has taken this topic and wrote it with love and care. We see how the years defined them and didn’t diminish their friendship or love. It grew more mature and they understood each other more. They were able to see each other’s vulnerabilities and be there no matter what. Piper helps Drew with his issue and he helps Piper see she is worth love.

A beautfiul delicate love story that has some heartache which made our characters stronger. A story of finding what is missing to give us love, peace and happiness. The story of Piper and Drew has this and more. the intimacy is like seeing two souls come together. the times they spend together talking and just being is intimate and beautiful for it shows a friendship and understanding of eachother but also love and support of one another. Another winner from Prescott Lane that will truly tear at your heart in so many ways but ends amazingly.

Fun, funny and one hell of a ride is what awaits you as you read this book. It's a holiday treat wrapped in lace!
Drew comes back into town hating every minute of being there because of his past and his family well some of hiss family that he can't be around because of the pain they caused him 6 years ago. What he didn't expect was that fate had something planned for him and had enlisted his grandmother in on it.
Piper is tired of being set up on dates, blind dates and online dating she has given up. So trying to lick her wounds from another failed attempt at a date she hits up the bar on the wrong side of town and gets her drink on.
Yeah neither one of them knew what hit them but the sparks that fly on these would be strangers was enough to have them think about each other the next day.
Okay, enter fate! When he gets to his grandmother house for dinner guess who else is on the guest list? Let the angels sing, Drew meets his long lost bestie and first love from his childhood, the one that moved away, his bad girl from the night before!
That's it, that is all the teasing I am gonna give you cuz let me tell you this book is begging you to read it. When you do you are gonna pee you pants laughing, cry with a broken hear and then cheer them on when they fight for what they want. All of than and yes, it is all Wrapped in Lace for you to enjoy!
Prescott lane has given us the perfect gift right before the holidays for you to curl up with on a cold night with a nice glass of wine and enjoy the Christmas miracle that is this book. Perfection she does not miss a beat!!!

5 STAR READ!!! (Because I cannot rate higher!)

This was the first book I've read by Prescott Lane, and let me tell you... What the hell have I been waiting for?! I'm in love with this story and not because I'm a sucker for second chance love stories, but because this was is different than what I'm used to! Drew was in his hometown for the first time in 6 years and was looking for a quick hookup. Until that quick hookup gets sick in front of him and they forget about it. They don't think they are going to see each other ever again until dinner the next night at Drew family's house, when she walks in and he finds out it is his first love, Piper. Piper cannot believe who is in front of her eyes. She knows that he is hiding a secret as to why he hasn't been back into for 6 years, but he will not tell her. Everyone in town knows but her. The relationship, the banter, the playfulness between this two made me fall in love with these characters even harder. I love that the ending wasn't predictable, and had a little twist. Another think I love about books is when the title is connected with a passage or something within the book, and this had that connection! I will definitely be going back and reading all of her other books!! I cannot wait to see what she has in the future! ❤️

Prescott Lane gift wrapped us a delightful Holiday Romance!

Drew & Piper were best friends growing up. Until the day that Piper’s mother appeared and took her away. Promising to write each other every week, they would survive the separation.

As time went on, the letters stopped. But neither forgot about each other.

When Drew comes home for Christmas after 6 years of not coming home. He was in for the best Christmas present EVER!!!

Had too much time and too many family problems for Drew severed the tie for a reunion all together or was this Santa’s way of delivering the best present ever?

I love the characters in this book! Drew is the main man in this book and he is handsome, has a body to die for and most of all he is a self made man who works with wood and building beautiful things out of used things and making them new again, learned in his grandfather's workshop as he grew up, create beautiful pieces of furniture, and continues to do so after grandfather's passing. Drew is now an expert in his field and is known world wide.

Drew lives in another town however. In this book he has come home for Christmas after 6 years, as his Grandmother wanted him to and he knows she is old, and does not want to miss seeing her anymore. After his brother and girlfriend all through high school slept together, 6 years ago when he was away at college, he had not been home since.

What Drew does not know is that his best friend since they were 6, his friend from childhood- Piper, is back in town to take care of her grandfather. He runs into her at the bar the first night he comes to town but he does not recognize her as she was 14 when her family moved away. Piper has always loved Drew and after she moved and he quit writing she felt so alone and uncared about. They were the best of friends and she feels the loss growing up.

The next night at his grandmother's house he comes in and there she is, the girl from the night before, and he is so stunned that it is Piper, and so happy! They immediately fall back into their old routine and are so happy! He can't believe how beautiful she is and he just can't help wanting to be with her. They spend the whole night reminiscing. This is a poignant story in many ways and you can feel it through the pages, the heart rending things that happened to them both, the sadness, tears, and tragic things that happened to them both.

Unfortunately, his ex girlfriend, now his brother's wife is there also, and that is why he never came home for 6 years. He felt so hurt, and his love with his brother was over. He no longer had a brother as far as he was concerned and the whole family is suffering. They want both boys back home. Things happen and both Piper and Drew take things the wrong way and next thing you know Drew is on his way home again, alone just like 6 years ago.

It takes his grandmother, who insists it was grandpa helping from heaven that made Drew's truck break down and now he is on his way back with his grandmother! Can there be a chance for these two to come to terms with the present and the past to have a future?

I loved the way this book is written, the characters are all well developed and you feel you are right there with them, going through the angst and feelings of happiness, sadness, being mad, and hating life one minute and loving it the next! This book is heart wrenching in many of the chapters, and I just have to say this book touched my heart, made me have tissues nearby, and had me loving the good parts and hating the bad parts! But there are so many happy times too, things that they both tell each other and do with each other, that they both will treasure always!

I loved the way this book ended and I gave it 5***** stars! I can't wait to read more by Prescott Lane, as she really is gifted in the fine art of story telling!

I fell in love with the cover first, I think this is one of the best I have ever laid eyes on. It’s sexy, it’s elegant and it’s subtle. Something that you couldn’t wait to get your hands on, and read.

And it did not disappoint, because Wrapped in Lace is indeed a great read. It tells the story of Drew and Piper, an ordinary plot of childhood friends-turned lovers, wrapped in a beautiful package. It was touching, but not heavy, it has some drama, mainly about family stuffs and personal issues, but nothing heavy, but will keep your interest from the first page down to the very last.

Not to mention, it is set during our favorite time of the year, Christmas. Drew was coming home. His first homecoming after a couple of years. He didn’t want to, but somehow needed to comeback this time. He didn’t want the pressure of facing his cheating brother and ex-girlfriend. He was planning of making the trip quick, and as painless as possible. What he didn’t expect was crossing paths with his childhood best friend, Piper.

I really didn’t expect they had that kind of history the moment they met in the bar. Drew found her awfully familiar, but couldn’t place her. But the moment their past were revealed, there were so many sweet moments between these two. They parted when they were 13, and things started to fade after it. Nevertheless, it didn’t stop the rush of emotions the moment they reconnected.

Their love story bloomed though the holidays: it was fast, sweet and steamy. Yep, can leave you panting for more. Drew didn’t expect his quick trip home turned out to be more. Falling in love once again, and facing his painful past. Will their newfound love make it through past the holidays?

The characters are easily relatable, and the situations are not out of this world. Oh yes, these are happening. And the ending? I was glad for a whole lot of things, most especially the ‘realness’ of it. Indeed, Christmastime is the season of love and forgiveness, but some things needed more time to heal.

Just like any other Preston Lane read, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Love and Christmas is indeed in the air!

If the boy you loved at thirteen sat down next to you eleven years later, would you remember him?

After a series of unfortunate incidents masquerading as dates, Piper Harper is D-O-N-E, done with men. Her self-imposed celibacy is thwarted, however, when a charming country boy walks into the bar where she’s drowning her sorrows and asks her to make him a Leg Spreader.

Let me point out, it’s only the aforementioned charm coupled with a Southern accent that makes that line sweet instead of seedy.

Really--a man can get away with a lot with that accent.

Drew Landon, at the request of his beloved grandmother, is coming home for the first time in six years, something he swore he’d never do. He’s dreading the prospect of spending the holiday season with the woman who betrayed him, so much so that he doesn’t make it into town good before stops for a couple shots of liquid courage at the local watering hole. It’s there that he meets an angel—a good girl to her core who’s trying hard to play the role of the vixen.

Drew and Piper have a long, emotional road to hoe and very little time in which to get their shit together. Can Piper set aside her abandonment issues and give Drew a chance, or will his trust issues get in the way of their happily ever after?

Things I loved:

--The story is set against a small, Southern town at Christmastime, and has the benefit of all the charm and beauty and holiday SPIRIT that entails.

--Piper’s best friend is fucking fabulous, something we don’t see a lot of in contemporary romance. Sometimes you just need that friend who will sit silently on the other end of the phone whilst you bawl your eyes out.

--Drew’s grandmother is utterly charming. Alternately full of piss & vinegar and sugary spice, I plan on being exactly like her when I grow up.

--The pacing is very well-done. The entire book takes place within the confines of about ten days, and the story felt complete without ever being rushed.

--Drew builds high-end custom furniture for a living, and we all know what a man who’s good with his hands does to me. I also love, love, LOVE the way he’s able to incorporate Piper’s art into his business. Not only does he recognize her talent, but he also wants to make it so he’s able to work with her at his side. That, folks, hit me right in the heart.

--Pearls. I’ve said it before—the very best, most memorable sexy-time scenes involve props. And that’s all I’m saying. . .

A bit of a second chance romance and a bit of a friends-to-lovers story, this book is a little angsty and a whole lot of sweet.

With Wrapped In Lace, Prescott Lane delivers a sweet and sexy short story about unrequited first loves (teenage) and second chances. We get the story from 2 perspectives, that of Piper Harper and Drew Landon. These two were the best of friends as kids, but when Piper moved away and drew moved on, their connection was lost...or so it seems. It was exactly the read I needed; sweet, sexy and angsty.

Set over a short Christmas visit, Drew makes his way home after six years in a self imposed exile. He had VERY good reason for leaving and staying away. The kind of betrayal Drew experienced isn’t one that would be easy to forgive and Drew never did anything to deal with the hurt and anger he feels. The biggest problem is it affects everyone in his small family, to an extent he doesn’t realize. So, he’s inspired when he meets a girl at the local “dive” bar who just might provide a distraction for him.

Piper’s been back in town for a few years and is building a nice life. At twenty four she’s got great friends but her love life is distinctly lacking. After a bad blind date, she makes her way to one of the two town bars to have a drink and take the edge off. Dark seedy bars make for missed recognition, but when Drew and Piper are together again, their connection is renewed. This makes for a lot of sweet memories and a sense of belonging that Piper has missed out on for many, many years. There are so many reasons to empathize with her. One element in the story that I loved was the way Lane describes Piper as an artist and her artwork. It says a lot about who she is and where she’s at emotionally.

Prescott does really amazing job building up the anticipation of a new relationship all the while setting us up for a blowout. The angst is inevitable and delivered at just the perfect point in the story. I’m always amazed when an author can show us many feeling and sides in a plot driver: and the dynamics of a family at odds and a path forwards all in novella format. In Wrapped In Lace, the transgression is obvious, but the complexity of the aftermath is what makes the story so compelling and creates all kinds of drama. As our heroine, Piper is easy to champion but I had mixed feelings about Drew. He IS the sweet, the sexy and the angst. When the reckoning comes I had a harder time feeling full on sympathy for Drew as he makes some bad decisions and callous remarks that hurt all around him. But, Piper and Drew seemed destined for each other and redemption not entirely impossible. Sometimes fate intervenes and true love wins.

Well I was totally wrapped up, not in lace, but in this story. One of my first thoughts as I finished reading Wrapped In Lace was that it's one of my favorites this year. The synopsis only scratches the surface of the awesomeness. It was so much more than I expected.

From the synopsis I really thought Drew Landon was going to be a player. He's not! I fell in love with this character so fast. The dream of a perfect life in his hometown was crushed by his girlfriend of four years. In one night he lost his best friend and brother, the girl he thought he loved and his even his parents were a casualty of the situation. It was easier to leave town than have to face his heartbreak everyday. Drew has the most incredible Nana that I've ever read. She is hysterical. It's his Nana that finally convinces Drew to come home for Christmas after six years.

Of course Nana has missed Drew terribly but she's also playing match-maker. It's been a decade since Drew and Piper have seen each other. They were the best of friends as children and secretly each others first love. I didn't want to put the book down once they re-connected. I loved everything about Piper. Her name is awesome, she's a talented artist, she takes care of her Gran-daddy and she's insecure but likes to pretend she's a bad girl.

Piper and Drew make up for their missed years pretty quick. I love that he comes up with a way to make her a part of his business. As much as I loved Drew's character he's still a guy and guys are just stupid half the time. That and a couple of other factors work against their chance at happily ever after. Drew has to stop running from his past if he wants to claim his future and realize that his dreams are still possible just not as he first envisioned them.

One of my favorite quotes is from Piper's best friend Sabrina:

"Oh my God, you totally got laid. That's why you're still dressed! You did the 'got laid parade' back home last night, didn't you?"

A sweet and sexy story which is the perfect excuse to start a little festive reading, ‘Wrapped in Lace’ is swoon-worthily romantic and a great treat for this time of year as the cold nights roll in, and you want to curl up with a good book.

There is a second-chance feel to Piper and Drew’s romance, but it isn’t in the traditional, heart-breaking first love way, but in a natural progression of their being close friends as children, crushing on each other as teenagers, and then being separated by moves around the country, which makes their reunion all that more sweet. It’s not a reunion they’d both been dreaming of, they had their own lives, and seemed to little think of the other, but it was fun and spontaneous, perfectly complimenting their personalities.

Piper is a heroine that is easily relatable for women everywhere. She’s stuck in a rut with her love life, she’s still living in her home-town with a job that she enjoys, but which isn’t her passion. Drew seems to have made the most succesful life away from McAdamville, owner of a successful company, and not weighed down by family or relationships. I loved that what we see at face-value with Drew began to twist and turn throughout the book. We begin to see the pain that he has hidden for years, the impossible situation he is in with his family, and the loneliness and abandonment he carries deep inside, without even realising it himself until he steps back into his home-town.

This story has twists and turns, brilliantly developed secondary characters, real-life issues and of course, a pulse-pounding romance. Piper and Drew’s relationship was sweet, sassy and oh so romantic, and I adored their scenes together where they teased each other, and also just sat in silence. The added festive feel also got me excited for the idea of cold snow, thick coats and roaring fires.

A very sweet romance with a sexy edge that will make you come back for more! I loved everything about it, from the way the characters met, the way their relationship developed and even through all their troubles and heartaches..

SWEET.

ROMANTIC.

SOULFUL.

REALISTIC.

FUNNY.

SEXY.

BEAUTIFUL.

ADDICTIVE.

HOT.

Drew and Piper had the type of connection which will make even the most unromantic people grave for it. Their chemistry was as sweet as it was hot as sin!! I laughed and cried at the same time during moments but more than anything, my heart was literally smiling for them..

Not to say how it ended, but though a smiling heart, I still had a rose pink face from all that sexy Drew talk.. I mean *fans self* how can you not have your head in the gutter with that creature? It made me go from sane to anything but.. That didn't stop there though. Drew was such a complex character and I absolutely adored the way his personality fit so well with Piper's even though they might not be anything alike..

Their minds grew at the same time that their story did as well..

Since the holidays are coming up, this would be the PERFECT read. But even after the holidays, WRAPPED IN LACE should be your go to book because IT WILL make you feel. Feelings that are often are to find when reading romance books.. Or at least in my experience, it's not that easy to find a romance story that holds it's own ground when it comes to portraying all the elements that make it both fiction - a dream or an escape - but at the same time, a grip onto reality.

Thank you Prescott Lane for the gorgeous ARC and a story that truly and as cheesy as it can be, touched my heart :) I haven't read your books before, but now, I am 100% delving into each and every one!

Don't you just love a Christmas romance story to get you in the spirit? Five leaves doesn't even being to capture how much I loved this book. Just like Prescott Lane's other books the writing is flawless, the story is emotionally charged, the characters are as real as can be and the book is just perfect! Every moment from the beginning to the end is beautiful! I fell deeply in love with all the characters in Wrapped in Lace.

It is Christmastime in McAdenville, North Carolina. McAdenville is nicknamed Christmas Town, USA. It's suppose to be the most wonderful time of the year and Piper has been on too many first dates to only find out that it's time for her to just give up.

Six years ago Drew has left his hometown and everyone he loved behind and making a vow to never return. But when his favorite Nana is requesting him to come he has to be the bigger man and return home.

When Piper goes to her favorite bar in town she has an unforeseen reunion with Drew, her long lost best friend when they were younger.
Drew and Piper knew they cared about each other so much since they were kids that they picked up where they basically left off when Piper left. Then Drew and Piper start to develop strong feelings for each other. Piper and Drew can't stay away from each other and decide that while Drew is in town for the holidays, they will be together.

Wrapped in Lace is a sweet holiday romance about reuniting two long lost best friends and finally giving them a chance at love. This will definitely be a must read during the Holiday season or when you are in need of a sweet romantic story!

REVIEW
This is a wonderful romance book. We have a couple who were once best friends and now they are both back in their home town and things may have changed but for the good or bad?
Drew hates that he has had to come home for the holidays but he promised his grandmother he would. However, his brother Rob and his wife who is someone Drew would rather forget about are there also.
What shocks him the most is the woman he met at the bar the previous night is also sitting at the dining table only he had forgotten who she was. Piper does not know what is going on with Drew and Rob but she knows something terrible must have happened between the brothers. Piper is so happy to meet back up with the man who was once her best friend and just maybe if the fates see it he can be more.
Ellie it seems doesn’t have any friends left. Although Piper is now Ellie’s son Jacks teacher, she really doesn’t want anything to do with Ellie.
Piper will hate her even more so when Drew finally tells he what went on between himself, his brother and Ellie.

Can Ellie mend Drew’s broken heart?
Can Drew be the best friend to Ellie he once was and even more?

I really enjoyed this very well written book. The characters are very strong and very believable so much so the story just drawls you in from start to finish.

YES! I really enjoyed the story of Drew and Piper.

Every year I like to find some holiday stories both in print and on TV that touch my heart and make me happy…Wrapped In Lace is one.

As you know I love a good second chance story. They make me feel good and hopeful. Wrapped In Lace is a story of childhood friends and want-to-be lovers who lose contact when Piper moves away.

I love the way the book begins. Drew Landon is returning home for the holidays. He doesn’t want to be there because of bad blood between him and his brother—a brother who was his idol and best friend. However, Drew’s grandmother is getting older and she wants him home for a visit and Drew wants to visit for her.

As he comes into the small town of his birth he stops for some liquid courage at a sleazy bar and runs into a beautiful and sweet girl who doesn’t seem to belong in the place. She looks familiar but he can’t place her but Drew knows he wants to find out more about her. When they meet again he realizes she is Piper Harper his childhood friend.

Drew and Piper spend a lot of time together over the holidays and quickly fall back into the best friend relationship of old.

There are some parts that are a little predictable but it isn’t off putting at all. There are some sad family scenes as the parents try to mend the riff between brothers. I love Drew’s grandmother. She is team Drew all the way and a hoot too. She is the perfect small town grandmother for this story.

I like everything from beginning to end and will definitely keep this book in my holiday favorites to read again.

This story has young love, stolen love, betrayal of love, lost love, new love and forgiveness. This is another emotional, (love, hate, betrayal) story that just kept me so tied up in it, that I couldn't put it down. It's about a family broken apart when a brother betrayed brother by getting his girlfriend pregnant while he was away at college. Drew hasn't been home in six years and his Nana has convinced him to come home for the Christmas holidays. He stops at Hanks' a bar and sees a woman by herself sitting at the bar. He talks to her and when last call is called, they walk out together. They end up falling asleep in the bed of his truck and when Drew wakes, the woman is not there.
The pull of this story is full of angst, anger, love ( first young love, betrayed love/stolen love, family love, new love.) Drew arrives at his Nana's house and upon entering he is greeted by his family all of his family. He has not been home because of this very reason. He's missed his Nana, mother and father but, does not miss his big brother or his brother's wife, and they are the reason he hasn't been back home, since he left. While he's greeting his parents and Nana, he hears a female voice and realizes that it's the voice of the woman from the bar. He finds out that this woman is Piper, his childhood friend, who he hasn't seen in ten years.
This is the writing of an author that has the creativity, to weave us a story, the believability of the characters and the storyline that could be from any timeline.

Drew and Piper's story told from both POV's. They began as childhood friends who went there separate ways upon the age of fourteen. Drew and Piper grew up in North Carolina. At fourteen Piper moved away to live with her mother. Drew left at eighteen returning six years later to celebrate Christmas with family. This story will put you in the mood for a winter wonderland with the upcoming Christmas holiday.
From the first word until the last I was captivated by Drew and Piper's alluring and seductive story of friendship that gets a second chance at love. Drew and Piper get to pick up where they left off ten years ago.
Ms. Lane I would have never believed that words could actually arouse a person as they just did not only for Piper but myself as well. Bravo! Those were some tantalizing words of foreplay.
Even though, Ms. Lane took a common topic of childhood friends getting a second chance at love I still felt intensely connected to the story and characters. I was enchanted by her loving words. Each loving word caressed my soul. I got swept away in the love. Everyone wants to find that kind of love and what better way than through the pages of a great love story. The sex scenes were tastefully graphic and arousing. You could feel the pleasure in the words that described the intimacy.
What I enjoyed most about this story was the support from family and friends. It's refreshing to read a story where there was no dark taboo past that scarred or damaged a persons soul. Instead it was a wonderful journey filled with hope and love.

I have to preface this review with the admission that I am a holiday romance junky. Countdown to Christmas on ABC Family? Yeah, I'm there. Hallmark Movies? Ask my husband and sons... it's a sickness. So when I got the opportunity to review a holiday romance written my Prescott Lane I JUMPED at the chance. Therefore, I think I may have rated this book higher than the average review. But that's because I LOVE this type of story. So understand that and take it how you will.
Wrapped in Lace is a beautiful story of second chances, broken bonds, bad blood, and the power of love. The emotional roller-coaster Piper and Drew ride is not for the faint of heart; me heart felt every climb, dip and loop-dee-loop.

The main characters, Piper and Drew, have been through so much in their loves (a lot of which is revealed throughout the book so I'm not even going to go there...read it!) and finding love and happiness is the last thing either of the expect. I think that's one thing I enjoyed about the book. Drew was so focused on his anger, he needed something to anchor him. Piper was so tired of being good, she needed an excuse. Both characters filled each other's voids, but would that be enough?

The inevitable break was AWFUL!! I wanted to hit one character, console another, smack yet another, and drink. In other words, it was well written and gripping. If the shattering of the relationship doesn't do that to me, well, I am probably not that invested. I was more than invested this time.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
