When Gabe Windslow and his friends stormed Archbishop O’Flaggan's dungeon, the last thing they expected to find was a malnourished young man who’d been beaten so badly he lay at death’s door. Unable to abandon someone in need, Gabe rescues the poor man and continues to care for him during the days that follow.

Branded a Sin Eater at birth by his deformities, Sammy Newton expected to die after the latest cleansing ritual he took part in. Instead he awakens to a world where nonhumans and magic are good and Sin Eaters aren’t needed.

Confused by a steadily growing sense of betrayal, Sammy struggles to decide whether he should help his rescuers fight the dark forces hunting Gabe and his friends or return to his life of slavery and abuse in order to save his soul from damnation and hell.

I thought this book was such a good addition to this series!

Gabe saves Sammy from where is being kept prisoner for being branded a sin eater. They both have a lot of danger to face before they can be together.

I loved the way this author wrote this story and these characters! I also love the world this author created in this book.

You get action and a little bit of steam too between these two men. You also see characters from the previous books in this series. You can read it as a stand alone but I would recommend reading the first two books in this series first.

I do not want to give away any spoilers so I will leave this review with... I really loved this book and would definitely recommend this series!

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.

I don't understand why there's only 1 rating for this book so far. I was really looking forward to reading this book and was not disappointed. It wasn't as great as the previous ones, but I still liked it. It was a great continuation and can't wait to read the rest of the books. Everyone who's read the first 2 books HAS to read this one! What are you all waiting for?

The continuing saga of humankind’s struggle to survive roughly two hundred years after a plague has killed most people, carries on in this third volume of the fantastic ‘Elements of Love’ series. This is a post-apocalyptic world where paranormal beings live behind a veil created to protect them from being hunted to extinction. Earth is ruled by a variation of the church as we know it, with an even stronger hierarchy, a pope interested in the supernatural, and evil forces out to keep humans in power – even though scripture clearly shows the other races to be far older, wiser, and capable of magic. This captivating alternate reality also has the church in charge of repopulating the planet, but with the twisted ideas of the villain of the previous books, Archbishop O’Flaggan, in charge, the situation is not about to get better. The team of gargoyles and humans working together to protect the Elementals is back for a suspenseful, imaginative sequel that had me spellbound as I followed their adventures and discovered new revelations.

Gabe is a rare gryphon shifter who, rejected by his biological parents because his coloring is wrong, has found a family in a group of gargoyles and Elementals who are drawn together by unknown forces. With the help of Evan and Adel from book one, and Jude and Nico from book two, as well as several other secondary characters, they have stormed the evil archbishop’s residence and freed the paranormals imprisoned and tortured there. One of them in particular, a young man named Sammy who is near death’s door, draws Gabe like no one ever has. Gabe will do anything to save him. He soon suspects they may be fated mates, but gryphon mating rituals are complicated and Gabe doesn’t want to stress out the physically and emotionally damaged man. Gabe also can’t bear getting his hopes up only to be disappointed yet again. Whether or not they are mates though, Gabe will do anything he can to help Sammy recover from years of abuse.

Sammy has been told he is a Sin Eater, and good for nothing other than taking the punishment for others’ sins so they can be absolved. The idea may sound preposterous, but it is all Sammy has ever known and he has no idea how to function in a world where he is not regularly beaten and tortured by Archbishop O’Flaggan, who used him as his personal “whipping boy” for many years. As Sammy’s body heals, he tries to deal with the new ideas, but it is hard to let go of everything he has believed for so long. Like any victim of brainwashing, he is tempted to go along with whatever his rescuers say, but secretly he expects them to send him back to the archbishop sooner rather than later. Gabe is his most frequent carer, and Sammy likes him a lot. As for more? He has no idea how to deal with his feelings.

When the motley team sets out to free more of their friends, there are more revelations, intense situations, and everyone is pushed to the limits of their endurance more than once. The fight against the archbishop and his perverted ideas takes everything they have and then some. When Sammy discovers his destiny I cheered him on, and I was very impressed with the gryphon mating ritual. Best of all? Well, almost best - the epilogue reveals what became of O’Flaggan and, while I am not normally a bloodthirsty person, my only comment is “Good riddance!”

If you like creative combinations of paranormal elements, mythology and legends, and a post-apocalyptic setting, if two men who are attracted to each other but have a lot of issues to deal with before they can figure out what’s what are your thing, and if you’re looking for a read full of action, suspense, mystical beings with unusual powers, and an imaginative world full of surprises, then you will probably like this novel. Do read the previous two books first – you’ll need the background to understand what’s going on.

Gabe's Song (Elements of Love #3) by Sui Lynn
4 stars
M/M Paranormal Romance
Triggers: Physical and Emotional abuse, brain washing, torture
I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

I have not read any of the previous books in this series, but didn't really feel that they were necessary. Lynn explained who everyone is and I never felt that there was a story behind what I was actually reading.

That being said, this was a hard book for me to read. The absolute disregard for life captured in this story was heart breaking. At times, I had to stop reading just to gather my thoughts about the abuse discussed.

Gabe was a character with a great true North - he believed in morality and love - the sanctity of all life. When he must hunt down those who subject others to torture and death, he finds himself confronted by Sammy - a sin eater. The description is both horrifying and loving from Gabe's POV. He wants to protect Sammy, but also knows that Sammy is going to need a lot of help understanding that what he has endured was for all the wrong reasons - there was no reason for Sammy to withstand such torture.

Then you have Sammy. Despite knowing about magic, he believes what he has been told by O'Flaggan - that he is a sin eater and that his abuse, ultimately, his death, will absolve O'Flaggan. When he learns that he is an Element, his world is flipped, bent, twisted and he comes out all the better for it.

After getting through the brutality of the story, the romance and love story comes to the forefront. I really liked Sammy and Gabe together. They had a soft chemistry that ultimately became a raging inferno.

I don't know if I can withstand the other stories if they are similar to this one, but I am glad that I finished this one.

Gabe's Song by Sui Lynn

A copy of this book was provided to me by Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an honest review.

****4 STARS****

This was another sweet installment of the Elements Of Love, series. Book 3 is about Gabe and how he finds his mate in Sammy, a prisoner found in the last book.

Poor Sammy, he's been mistreated all his life with only one friend. His mother sacrificed her life for him, but O'Flaggan, the evil guy in the story made him believe that he was evil and deformed, when really he wasn't. I'm really glad that Gabe and Sammy ended up together. Gabe was protective and sweet, and so was Sammy.

The only thing that made is so weird for me was that Sammy recovered pretty fast. I mean, he was beaten, brainwashed, and god knows what else, but he was able to bounce back from all that, years worth of suffering, in a matter of weeks? I thought it would take years, months at least...but nope. Huh. Still recommend it though. :)

I reread the first two books as a refresher and then flew through this book (pausing only to sleep and work). I can't wait for the next book. The author sucks you into this series.

Five stars. In the second book in this series, we briefly met Sammy, a young man who was born with webbing between his toes and fingers. He was called a "son of Poseidon", but the evil Archbishop O'Flaggan called him an abomination. This book provides the background for the life of pain and misery that Sammy has lived: Sammy also heals from his diverse wounds in this story, and another prior character, Gabe, wants to be his protector. This book focuses on the relationship between Sammy and Gabe, but it also moves the entire story arc forward.

In this book, Fin is kidnapped by Archbishop O'Flaggan who mistakenly believes that Fin is a fairy rather then a gargoyle. Based upon that mistaken understanding, O'Flaggan concocts a crazy story that the fairy world (which according to the story is extinct) is trying to invade and overthrow the human world. The Elementals and their gargoyle friends try to find Fin, and with the help of the last living dragon named Father Abe, they are able to find Fin at the Archbishop's house in New Jersey. The "good guys" plan an attack to release their friend.

The group ultimately finds and rescues Fin. Sammy however, stays in the dungeon so that he can again meet with Archbishop O'Flaggan. Sammy was providing a diversion for his new friends' escape. When Sammy sees O'Flaggan again, he finally realizes that the Archbishop is pure evil and his new friends were telling him the truth. There is a good versus evil fight, and injuries are sustained by both sides. The injuries sustained by Sammy were very severe.

Fast forward. . . Sammy realizes that he is a water elemental. So he needs to be in water to heal. Everyone finally comes to realize that Gabe is Sammy's mate. For Sammy to help heal the injuries sustained by Gabe during the battle with Archbishop O'Flaggan, Sammy needs to be in water, and Gabe has to be nearby so energy can be funneled back and forth between the two men. The "three musketeer" gargoyles transport Sammy to the water and Adel flies Gabe to the water's edge.

When the three musketeers get Sammy to the water, we meet the next elemental named Taki -- the spirit elemental. (According to this series of books, when all five elementals reunite, then the magic veil that prevents humans from seeing magical beings will be removed. Up to this point, we know four of the elementals -- Evan is Earth, Sammy is Water, Jude is Fire, Taki is Spirit. We are still missing the Air spirit.). By the way, Sammy and Gabe both heal.

Gabe and Sammy do a mating ritual and create the mating bond between each other. There is a strong bond of love between these two, and is sure to develop as the series continues.

It appears that there will be at least one more book in this series since we have only met four of the elementals. A final book should introduce the fifth elemental, and bring this story to an end.

By the way, O'Flaggan disappears near the end of the book. We find out what happened to him in the epilogue, and it was not a surprise at all -- I think everyone can predict what is going to happen to O'Flaggan.

This book had a lot more action than the first two. I think it had superior storytelling, and was well-worth reading. (You really need to read the first two novels in this series to understand this one fully.). Five stars from me.

For some reason I liked this one more than the second book....
I love the fact that it wasn't instant intimacy, that they actually became friend got to know each other and that Gage's desire for Sammy wasn't in the way of everything, I actually found it kind of sweet and comforting, which feels right for the type of story.
I thrown off a bit by certain things like when they were in the cell, i mean that self sacrifice, I got it but I didn't get it.......but anyway I went with it....
I actually liked the fact that Gabe couldn't tell Sammy was his mate, to me it added to the story and, puts this book a part from many others, and the whole, "you are mine" as soon as they meet theme.
I look forward to the next one.....
