TOUCHDOWN BABY

Jace Johnson has always lived the “golden” life from family to football. When a paternity scandal threatens to ruin his image, he turns to the one woman who knows the real man behind the quarterback façade.
***

Jace Johnson is the NFL’s Golden Boy. The first-round draft pick quarterback with an arm that will get him in the Hall of Fame. Everyone loves the humble, pretty boy. So when paternity papers are handed to him, the reality of his impending fall from grace makes him run to the one person who knows the real man.

Ava Banks is a working, single mother putting herself through college. Although the nine-to-five as a legal secretary is putting food on the table, it’s not the life-long dream job, but when she made the decision to raise her daughter alone, she knew she’d have to push herself for Ashlyn. What option did she have? A one-night stand with her best friend’s brother left her with an angel who deserves the world, not a father who would resent her. Or would he?

The last time Jace slept under Ava’s roof, he didn’t do much sleeping. Memories of that night haunt him, but Ava has a child now, and that means she’s off-limits. He needs her help for his own paternity issues. Will his situation cause Ava to refuse to help him or teach him that the love of a child is the Hail Mary pass everyone wants before the touchdown?

Finally, i finished it only in one night.. I cant stop reading it try to find their connection with each other.. it never satisfied me.. i always compare with 'take this regret' story.. they got no emotion.. no connection.. sometime i don't understand the scene and the others character... compare to 'take this regret' this is really shit! ive give 2 stars because of the story plot...

I started reading and got to point where heroine asked about hero dating another woman he tells her they are only friends which is untrue. A little before that hero was thinking to himself how he needed to end things with the ow. And from skimming over rest of book he never admits to the relationship even though heroine suspects it and it’s mentioned a couple more times. I’m ok if hero omits the truth if he eventually comes clean.

this book had a lot of inconsistencies. it's also very fast-paced and there were times i didn't know what scenes the author was describing.

not a bad story per-se but there were some parts which i found rather silly.

like the fact that everyone (as in literally everyone, even ashlyn's paternal grandparents) knew the identity of ashlyn's father (just by looking at their similarities in physical appearance) except the father himself. heck, even his friends knew.

another thing was the characters' emotions were all over the place. one second they were amicable and lovey dovey and the next, one of them flares up and shit, it's confusing af.

nearing the end, jace seemed to be understanding of ava's situation all those years ago when she did what she had to do. but when they actually sat down and talk, he suddenly realised he's not okay with it, got pissed and stormed out. his mood changes faster than a woman

overall, it was a fast and predictable read, managed to finished it in a few hours.

I quite enjoy this book a lot. At first I was expecting some kind of other story since I didn't read all the description. Then i read it again but I wasn't far ahead with the story. I though it was some kind of playboy in love with the girl next door. But not really, another kind of story I have read but still I love it. It wasn't tiresome, all the characters were down to earth, the love was also simple.
Sure there were dramas but not the kind that would make you roll your eyes.

Touchdown Baby is an excellent read! Unfortunately, you see the theme of the story more than you wish to, but it is still a sweet story.

Ava Banks is the best friend of Roxi, sister of NFL Quarterback Jace Johnson. They have all know each other since elementary school and Ava has had a crush on Jace that long, too. When Ava and Roxi were freshman in college, Jace was entering the NFL draft as a first round pick. When Jace's nerves got to unsteady leading up to the draft, he went to Ava and Roxi's house for the weekend, only to discover that Roxi was out of town. Ava let him stay and one thing led to another resulting in Ava's pregnancy and the birth of her daughter, Ashlyn. Jace left the next morning before Ava woke and didn't make any attempt to check on Ava in the weeks following, so Ava told everyone that she met a guy at a frat party on campus but didn't get his name. Ava continues to go to school and got a job as a legal secretary to support herself and her baby girl. With the help of Roxi, Roxi's parents and Ava's parents, Ashlyn is well taken care of and loved.

Two years later, Jace is hit with a paternity suit accusing him of fathering a little boy about 6 months after being with Ava. Jace has no memory of the night in question because of how drunk he and his friend, Alex, were. He comes back to Ava and Roxi's house to get out of the limelight before it hits the press. When he comes back, it is the first time that he has ever seen Ashlyn or Ava since their encounter. The more that he is with Ava and Ashlyn, the more he wants to be Ashlyn's father and Ava's husband. He never told anyone that he has had a crush on Ava forever, too.

Circumstances put them together, but pressures from the outside and the hidden truths are too much. Can they survive the pressure and will he forgive Ava for not telling him about Ashlyn? Read to find out. You will enjoy!

I loved this book!! Once I opened it I couldn't put it down. Ava loved Jace so much that she kept a secret for almost 3 years, so he could have the life he always dreamed of to have a professional quarterback in the NFL. I was just so shocked that as close as the two families was that her secret never came out. Rose Harris made you feel the friendship, love & chemistry between Jace & Ava. I love how at the end Jace finally realizes the true meaning of family after he meets his biological father. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a wonderful romance book to curl up for a relaxing night, just keep in mind once you open it, it is hard to put down. Can't wait for Roxy & Alex's book.

Touchdown Baby

They shared one night. Then he was gone to make a name for himself in football. Now he is back. It seems that she wasn't the only woman that was left a lasting memory of their one night. The story was pretty good. He wanted her but was afraid that the father of her daughter would come back and take her away. His focus was not on the game. But trying to figure out when he was with the other woman. Then when all that truth comes out what will he do to correct the past?

Touchdown Baby is a touchdown

I always love love stories that involve young children and this book hit all the marks for me. Hunky quarterback with a way with children, beautiful young mom, and adorable little two year old daughter. The story moved well and although this was the first time I've read this author, it won't be the last. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

This book is so much marathon a football romance. The way it looked into the decisions that people make everyday and the struggles that people have with excepting themselves and others. Finding understanding and trying to see things from other peoples view is a lesson clear in this book. Never give up on your dreams.

This was a cute read, at times funny. There wasn't much of a suspense and the ending was predictable, but in a good way because it was what the readers wanted: a happy ending. The journey to the end was what made this book, with flashbacks and the story divided into the two protagonists point of view this was a fun and quick read.

Wasn't a bad read at all.

This was a new author to me and at times I'm hesitant to branch out but I'm quite glad I did.. The story flowed well through the book and I liked how you got glimpse of the past so that you understood what was going on. Very happy with the ending also. I will be checking out the next book after this one

Such a lovely read. A few people mentioned that the story was fast-paced, but I didn't feel that way. While it may have felt that way, these two had known one another since they were children. I look forward to reading more from Rose Harris.

This was a fairly decent story. I liked all the characters and felt they meshed together well. Personally I thought it waffled and repeated itself in places so it wasn't a perfect read but overall it was good enough.

Loved the book. The author did such a great job at capturing emotion and feelings as if you are the character them self! Definitely cried some and smiled a lot. Look forward to book two with Roxi and Alex story.

Really cute

I liked the story and main plot. At some . Points it seamed as though the progression of days didn't make sense but that could have been just me. All in all it was good and very cute.

Started, but dropped it after the first couple of chapters.

Found the writing style very hard to follow.
Storyline didn't feel even slightly realistic.
