As Charmed books go, this is a very good one. It begins with some non-magic conflict between the sisters. Phoebe is feeling under-appreciated by her sisters, who don’t realize she also has important things to do. Soon, everyone will see how important she is because during a battle with demons, Phoebe gets separated from her sisters. A knock on the head, and a spell from bad witches later, she’s convinced by the evil witches seeking amulets which will give them ultimate magical power, that she’s their good friend, Ruth, and together they battle evil.

Meanwhile back at Halliwell Manor, Leo can’t locate the missing Phoebe, and scrying doesn’t work either. As of yet, no one realizes what’s going on, or that a spell is preventing them from finding Phoebe, and keeping Phoebe’s memories of Piper and Paige buried. While Ruth/Phoebe helps her “sister” witches retrieve the amulets, despite a feeling of unease, Piper and Paige have to deal with Flector demons, and could really use the power of three. They could also use Phoebe on the home-front. Piper and Paige have a house full of magical creatures demanding the counseling and advice session promised them by Phoebe.

While the magical creature part of the story can get a bit frivolous at times, and the bad witches’ interactions with Ruth a tad tiring, things get much better once Paige encounters Phoebe and her fellow “good” witches in action, and realizes Phoebe has completely forgotten her real sisters. It’s all well written, and for the most part pretty enjoyable. The conclusion helped a great deal, as it was both exciting and fun, and had a couple of wonderful moments between sisters toward the end. It very much retained the feel of the show, so gets high marks on that front.

Probably a 4.2 for me, just because a few frivolous moments bored me, and the series works best when all three sisters have more scenes together. Overall, however, this is a very enjoyable entry which captured nicely the feel of the series. Highly recommended for fans of the show as a light and entertaining read which now has the added bonus of being nostalgic; this show debuted two decades ago! My, how time flies…

This was an okay Charmed book. It read like an episode, mostly. In it we have Paige rushing in, on her own, to take down demons and, as usual when she does this, gets in over her head. The book mostly focuses on Phoebe, who feels overwhelmed with work, family, and her charmed ones' life. I would've liked a bit more on the Aura, Delilah, and Terra - how they met, why they decided it was a good idea to steal the amulets, etc.. The ending was good, abrupt but covered what was needed.

Still in season six because anything with Wyatt and Paige having dark hair fits and since this is getting toward the end of the tie-in novels released, this is the last time we get to see Darryl helping out the Charmed Ones :(

This of course by the title is a Phoebe-centric one.

Phoebe is overworked doing her advice column on deadlines, so swamped she can't even remember which magazine reporter is trying to interview her. Paige is off on her temp agency jobs while Piper is needing Phoebe to be a baby-sitter to Wyatt and doing errands for her while Leo is busy.

To top off Phoebe's overfilled plate, the magical community of fairies, leprechauns and such want Ask Phoebe to handle their problems as well. Even vanquishing demons is getting to be a little overwhelming but Phoebe won't abandon her sisters when they attack at P3.

After taking down one demon, Phoebe gets blindsided and knocked out. When she wakes up, she can't remember where she is or even who she is. After wandering around, Phoebe is found by a young woman who calls her Ruth and says she has been looking all over for her.

This is one of her friends and roommates named Aura, a girl she has known her whole life, but nothing is ringing any bells. Meeting two other girls named Delilah and Terra doesn't get any wheels turning but they are treating her very nicely and there is a photo of "Ruth" with them.

It could be a mistaken identity of Phoebe just having a twin out there, but it is actually the work of three witches wanting power. They have planned to go after Phoebe for a while since she is the sister who has premonitions, and they need that in seeking out three more amulets. Aura stole the first one from her grandmother to keep her cousin from getting it, so these witches are not for the greater good.

When they have all four amulets, their powers will be increased making them even more powerful than the Charmed Ones. Gaslighting and deceiving Phoebe is just until they are finished with her power and then they plan to strip all the Power of Three to themselves. Aura and her friends have even been able to place a cloaking spell on Phoebe to keep Leo and her sisters from finding her.

Just as they have before, Piper and Paige sort of clash as they find their sister has gone missing.

Once Piper and Paige discover that Phoebe has been completely snowed by these witches, they must come together to try and get their sister back to normal. It doesn't help when demons are still coming after The Charmed Ones, and all of the magic community has decided to plant themselves at Halliwell Manor until Ask Phoebe can help with their own problems.

Having The Charmed ones facing evil witches trying to be the new Power of Three is always sort of fun to read about. Plots dealing with a sister being swayed to some other magical collective such as in the past of nymphs, vampires and Valkyries are also enjoyable and yet have some sort of underlying issue.

This one is just Phoebe being overwhelmed as the middle sister. Piper has to be the mom to her son and Paige has always been independent since she was never raised with siblings for most of her life.

Piper has a job, and Paige doesn't yet Paige is the youngest sister in a role that Phoebe use to have but now, Phoebe is essentially...Piper at the beginning. The sister who has to be the mediator between the eldest and more dutiful sister and the more free-spirited baby of the bunch.

Aura and her friends targeting Phoebe because she has the premonition powers is also just convenient at a time when Phoebe secretly just wants a vacation. This trio of mean girls are also just very catty in giving Phoebe a lame name under her new identity because Phoebe happens to be beautiful and famous with her face plastered all over San Francisco.

Phoebe Who? is a page turning romp that could have been a great episode of Charmed if put on the television screen.

The trend of the series was for these to get worse as they go on, but this was the best one in a while. No glaring canonical issues beyond Chris not existing, no made up powers, no in or react references to old episodes. In fact the references to episodes of the show were correct. Plus the store was interesting. On the whole I’m going to take the win in this as I continue my reread of them all.

I only read a few books in this series because they ended up being a lot different than the show. I do not know if all the books were like this, but the few that I read I cannot recall a lot of the things in the book being a part of the story in the show. Other than that, the books are a decent read, especially if you liked the show and it’s characters.

This would have fit in perfectly as an episode of the show.

I read over half of this one in one go, couldn’t put it down! I was too determined to see the three ‘witches’ get their come-uppance. One that keeps you page turning for sure.

As long time readers of this blog will know, I love Charmed. Some might say I'm slightly obsessed, even. So, since I read two review books in a row, I decided to use this book to break things up a little bit before I moved on to my next review title. These stories don't have a whole lot of depth to them so this will be a relatively short review.

In terms of the plot, this would have made a good episode. But, that's also where it was lacking. It used elements that were very similar to actual episodes so the new factor wasn't really there. It was still likeable though. I enjoyed the fact that the magical creatures had come to Phoebe asking her advice. I think that would have been interesting to see an episode with that story line being that when members of the magical community needed help in the show, they were usually prone to turning to Paige for that.

There were a few points that I didn't care for, particularly that the author started calling Phoebe by the name of Ruth right after she got amesia. I know why she did it, but I guess the transition wasn't all that smooth because it was confusing for a while. Then there were a few spots that felt like filler that could have been removed. In terms of it being similar to other episodes it was, but there were some good details in the story despite that fact.

Overall, this was an enjoyable enough story that would have made a decent episode in the show, it's just not one of my favorites.

Do any of you read Charmed novels or watch the show? If so which is your favorite book/episode?

Wow, so after spending fifteen minutes on a review, my internet cut out as I was submitting, and I lost all of what I'd written. Let's try again.

This book wasn't terrible. It was certainly better than some of the other Charmed books I've read, stylistically and what have you, but it sounded more like a generic, "There are bad witches who want power and the Charmed Ones need to stop them" story. I personally love Charmed for the way that historical traditions and fictional details are both incorporated into each episode/situation, but this one had little to no historical concepts on the Wiccan practice or the amulets that were the main attraction of the story.

I know there's limited space on the number of pages--as all of the books tend to have the same amount range of words--but I wish the author would have taken time to give the antagonists some kind of back story. Perhaps that's just my affinity for character development driving the plot, and not just plot driving the plot. I didn't feel invested in the characters or the plot. I honestly didn't know why I should care about it. I didn't feel a sense of urgency that the Sisters and Power of Three might actually be in danger.

Would I read this one again? Probably not. Save this one for a rainy day, when you've run out of other books that take priority.

As far as Charmed goes I am a fan. This story WAS aligned to the show seasons. (Yay!) I nitpick, yet some of the books truly have events happen out of order. As a fan it pulls me out of the story and is disappointing. I love that I can experience new stories of the Charmed ones. This story would have made a great episode. Well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This story is very unique, and interesting, where one of the sisters get amnesia. I loved reading the parts from Phoebe's point of view as she learns who she thinks she is and who she really is
