After a disastrous one night stand, she is unceremoniously canned from her job of three years and forced to give up her adorable condo. At twenty-five her life is circling the drain and in desperate need of a change. With her entire universe upended she decides to reinvent herself and finally get her shit together. There’s just one problem, she has no idea who she wants to be.
When a series of chance meetings with a guy who is the complete opposite of everyone she’s ever dated turns into more does she have the guts to break the cycle and give different a chance?
This is a hilarious story about finding yourself, falling in love, and every mistake along the way.
K.A Ware is an indie author living in Ridgefield, Washington. Her days consist of surfing the internet while pretending to write, making soap, and taking care of her young daughter. Writing is not her only passion, K.A. also serves on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit and spends way too much time reading. She believes in the power of words, alpha females, and that special escape you get when you hunker down and dig into a good book. When she’s not busy mothering, working, writing, or reading she enjoys spending time with family and friends and embracing the weirdness and wonder that is the Pacific Northwest. K.A. loves to cook and is often found tinkering in the kitchen and trying to feed anyone that walks through her door. She is obsessed with music, so if you find yourself at a metal show in Portland —take a look around— she’s the crazy redhead head banging at the front.
A laughing out loud, ugly crying and enjoyable read. I loved reading about Briar and her struggles in life and how her and Reid hooked up. A great rom-com for the reader to lose oneself in.
Seriously? I'm not sure I can finish this and I always finish my books. The heroine is ridiculously obnoxious. And the language? I don't say that lightly either. My vocabulary can be pretty colorful but Briar is so excessive and inappropriate at times (most of the time). . I'm not sure what the author was attempting to do for her character but it fails for me.. Daddy issues or not, Briar is the type of person I could only spend a few minutes around.
Updated: I pushed through and finished this book. Still find Briar annoying but loved Reid. Too bad he's with Briar
As I start out ever review to me a good book must have 4 elements it must make you laugh, cry, want to throw it and not able to put it down. K. A. Ware did this and so much more it was epic! I was kicked out the bedroom for waking up my hubby with my fit of laughter. I received a copy of this from a contest. What to say about K. A. Ware's book... it was the perfect mix of sweet, sexy, and romantic. The book Hot Mess: A Dirty Bitches Novel grabs you the moment you start. I laughed, loved, and swooned over Briar and Reid. The sisterhood of friends is awesome as well, every girl needs some! Reid would be mine in a heartbeat!! I don't do major spoilers but I loved the Cat lady scene It was just so sweet, you need to read it to find out what I talking about!
This was a fun read. The main character in this book is struggling to find herself and is seriously One Hot Mess!! I found this book entertaining and enjoyed the internal dialog...you know, all that stuff you would never dare say out loud! She goes on strings of unfortunate dates (haven't we all?) and winds up finding a winner in a most unlikely place. Reid was quite honestly, the best part of this book! If you are wanting an easy, fast and funny read, this will Do the trick!
Hot Mess from K.A. Ware is the first book in the Dirty Bitches series. This story is told entirely from main character Briar's perspective. Briar's life is a hot mess! She is literally a walking disaster and it seems whatever could go wrong, does for the twenty-five year old who doesn't have a clue what she wants from life other then to avoid (at all costs) the abominable mistakes her parents made. Needless to say she is in no way looking for love, let alone a relationship, but that's exactly what slaps her in the face in the most unexpected way! In the process of finding love, she also finds herself...and makes a lot of hysterical mistakes along the way.
My favorite line in this book was "Is telling someone to 'suck my dick' at work considered sexual harassment even though you don't actually have a dick?" Delivered early on in the book, it set the tone for the brash Briar's personality which I loved! She constantly reminded me of my no filter best friend growing up who I obviously have a biased opinion of. That said, her way of telling it like it is and her heart of gold - mostly - have you laughing through pranks and one liners at every turn. I also could not put this book down. I mean, it was a fun and fast read, which I finished in about 5 hours...but I didn't want to sit my kindle down to watch tv or do laundry and even went so far as to order my kids pizza instead of cooking dinner (other then what that obviously says about me as a parent) one should recognize that's the making of a great book! You will laugh out loud throughout the book and want someone like Reid for your very own. I know I do!!! Buy this book and get lost in K.A.'s Hot Mess!!!
This is one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read! Within the first two chapters I was already laughing out loud and wondering if this author had looked inside my head to see some of the whacked and messed up things I've done in my life. This book has you laughing, probably yelling, cheering out loud and ugly crying all in a short amount of time. The story of Briar and Reid is epically good and you have to read it. I loved it and I am so looking forward to anything else that comes about for this series. I would give this book the stars in the sky, that is how much I enjoyed it but since I can't do that in a review, it gets the full 5 stars.
If you want to read a great rom-com, this is the book for you. I was hooked from the beginning. Briar and her best friends struggle together through relationships, jobs, and other things life throws at them. When Briar meets Reid, he turns her every which way but loose. You will have to read the book to find out more. I laughed, cried and even wanted to hit something. The perfect way to tell it is a great book. It is sexy, sweet, romantic, with just the right amount of sass thrown in. You can’t get any better. Do yourself a favor and read it. You won’t regret it.
Where do I start! This book was utterly amazing! I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard while reading a book. So many times in this book I thought to myself "does she know me?". The story revolves around Briar and her crazy life with her best friends. She meets Reid and isn't really sure what to think of him. But, sparks fly and you wonder how their relationship will pan out? This book made me laugh so many times I needed tissues to stop the tears. I absolutely loved this story and didn't want it to end! So damn good! Please read this, you will love it!
If You want great laugh and read the daily struggles of women and what they go through with their best friends, love, heartbreak and life changes, the this book is for you. KA Ware kills it in this book. If you have ever struggled with life and want a great read, then read this book. It's a great Rom-com and will have you laughing, crying and wanting to hug or hit someone.
From beginning to end this book was hilarious!! I couldn’t stop laughing and omg Reid is seriously one of the best male hero’s I have read in awhile! He’s funny, charming, not a douche, and he actually listens! But oh man can he take over and be dominant when he needs to be! Amazing story and can’t wait to get more on this amazing group!
This book is so relatable. I love it. From having a bad day to it being an all out cluster f!#k. Is an understatement. And finding love is way down on the totem but when you least expect it love finds you. It's freaking hilarious and sexy as hell. I can't wait til book 2.
A light hearted down to earth romance novel. I throughly enjoyed this it was a nice breath of fresh air compared to usual romance novels. It was funny and heart felt. I would definitely recommend this book to others and would definitely reread.
OMG!! this is the most hilarious book I have ever read it's so relatable to life I cannot say enough good things about the story and the characters it is just amazing and you need it in your life!!!
I received this book free from a goodreads giveaway. I'm sorry to the author and the publisher that it has taken me this long to complete it. It was a fun book to read.
This book is too funny!! Briar was absolutely hilarious and when you add in the best friends? Priceless. The relationship between Briar and Reid was awesome to watch grow with each date they went on instead of them just jumping in bed together from the beginning, like Briar so desperately wanted
Why don’t I start at the beginning; the cover is absolutely cheeky and matches the clever title! The prologue says it all. My thought while I read it is that I have been there, done that. I related, I laughed; I literally laughed out loud. Briar has got her “bitches” as her cheerleaders, calling her on her crap, and showing up with junk food and alcohol when warranted. And they have her back no matter what. My favorite line:
“At least that way I’d get a nice padded room, three meals a day, and a cute jacket that made me hug myself so that I’d never be lonely.”
KA Ware writes a flirty, spunky, and sharp book about what to do after college, your best bitches, one night stands, and that one guy that challenges you and you can’t live without. This really is one of my absolute favorite books. I definitely used my thesaurus writing this review looking for appropriate adjectives. Just read it!
Hot Mess is the first solo book I have read by KA. If you don't have a sense of humour then you probably won't want to read it. Briar is honest & speaks her mind. Briar is like a mixture of my friends all put into one. I really enjoyed this story. Absolutely loved Reid! Dirty Bitches series is off to a good start and I can't wait to see what happens next.
