Whore. Slut. Dirty. Gold-digger. Homewrecker. Marlie Miller had heard it all before as a young woman living in the city of sin. In Marlie’s eyes, she was just like all the famous bachelors that women sought after and men wanted to be like. The only difference between her and those bachelors what the simple fact that it was forbidden for a woman to act disgracefully, so promiscuously. Marlie was behaving the way she wanted and she was frowned upon. Life was amazing for Marlie and she had become addicted to the drugs, the money, and sex. Marlie was so far gone that she was involved with Sterling Hamilton, the present Mayor of Detroit and shortly well known as his mistress. Dealing with such a public figure, Marlie’s promiscuous ways were put into the spotlight for all to see. It wasn’t too soon after Marlie hit an ultimate low, that she met one of Detroit’s finest criminal attorneys, Brendan Biggs. Brendan was completely different from any other man Marlie had ever encountered and she found herself becoming quite fond of him. If Marlie wanted to get a man like Brendan than she would have to change her ways for the better but that would be hard to do with her attachment to Sterling. To Marlie promiscuous just wasn’t a word but a lifestyle she had become accustomed to. Marlie only hoped she could let go of her ways before it was too late.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It was a fast-paced story which revolved around real life topics that are sometimes hard to discuss and elaborate on such as rape, substance/drug abuse, pedophilia, infidelity, self-esteem issues, sexuality, and of course, promiscuity. This author did an excellent job doing so. In Promiscuous we are introduced to Marlie, who lead a very loose lifestyle due to a decision her mother made during her childhood. We are also introduced to Brenden, a young man who grew up in the "hood" but was determined to leave it and he did. As Marlie and Brenden cross paths, we see their friendship blossom as they both deal with trials and tribulations in their own lives. This stand alone could be enjoyed by all readers of the genre, both male and female, who enjoy a well-written story. Eriel Jenkins you did an awesome job penning this and I look forward to reading more of your work in the future.
In the beginning I was unsure if I was gonna like this book. As I continue to read the more my feelings changed. I must say I was ABSOLUTELY WRONG... This was awesome book. I love Brendan in this book and truly HATED Rite. What type of mother would subject her child to such a horrible lifestyle. I was very happy how this book ended. I was happy that Marily was able to see that life isn't always about sex and money.
This was an amazing story. It's should be read by many of the young youth that are trouble and struggling to find their way. Yes it was fiction but up to date with lots of the common struggles during this day and age. Marlie got a second chance not many can say the same. Well written Eriel and looking forward to read plenty more from you.
Marlie came from a dysfunctional family. She tried hard to shake her past but wasn't able to. Brendan comes along and offers his friendship. Brendan likes Marlie as a friend but Marlie wants more. This story was good.
