When Little Bot is thrown out with the garbage, he finds himself in a strange new world. Fortunately, Sparrow is there to take him under her wing. Together, they explore the forest, share adventures, and learn what it means to be forever friends.
Jake Parker is the illustrator of many books for young readers as well as animated films and comic books. He also lives near the mountains, in Provo, Utah, and wishes the little snowplow would stop by his driveway every winter.
I'm a sucker for stories about unlikely friendships! Trying to make my way through Jake Parker's books this year. I've been watching his YouTube channel for awhile now and I find him to be incredibly inspiring.
This is a sweet book. I liked it a lot. My 4yo boy isn't a big fan of sweet stories. He prefers monsters, trucks, and spiders. But when we go to the library each week, I pick out at least one sweet storybook to expose him to books outside his preferences. This was a good pick of mine, since he told me "I didn't like this book before [we read it], Mama, but I do like it now." The illustrations are great, too.
A sweet book about friendship, the whole book is very well rendered. The author managed to tell the importance of dreaming and friend ship, but as I read most reviews, people think it is sad and twisted as friends are separated.
The first half of the book totally reminds me of lion and bird. Luo and bird is essentially same story with a much sweeter ending.
The beginning of the book also reminds me of the wild robot, a chapter book. It is sad that people dispose too frequently things that they believe are useless.
Just a reminder to myself for writing: Hope is something that good books bring to people.
This is a sweet picture book that tells the story of a little robot that was tossed out with the trash. When he becomes friends with a sparrow, he learns so much about the world. Eventually the season changes and it's time for the sparrow to fly south. The illustrations are beautiful. This would be a great picture book companion to The Wild Robot by Peter Brown.
boys may love little bot as he explores his new, alien surroundings. Nice friendship tale if somewhat predictable. Outstanding use of composition in illustrations. Good balance of words and pictures. Nice ending.
This is a sweet story of an unlikely friendship that seems will last forever, until it’s time to say goodbye. When Little Bot gets thrown out with the trash, he wakes up in an unknown place. Sparrow, curious about the little machine, befriends him when she sees that he needs a little help in this environment. They go off together exploring the forest as the seasons change. When winter returns, Little Bot has to say goodbye to Sparrow, but he continues to remember everything they did and what he learned from his little friend, including how to dream. Young readers will love the soft illustrations and simple writing. Aside from introducing the seasons, this book is perfect to talk about friendships, and saying goodbye.
After Little Bot is thrown out in the trash, Sparrow befriends him and shows him the meaning of friendship. This is a gentle story about friendship and loss. The story line is lovely and the illustrations are well done. Little Bot’s expressions are darling. The development of their friendship throughout the year is well done. This is a very gentle story perfect for lap time reading. It would also be a great read-aloud about first friendships. Recommended for Kindergarten through grade 3.
This is similar to the middle grade book The Wild Robot. Robot learns from a sparrow how to live in the sparrows world. This book teaches that children should listen and learn from others who have experience they themselves do not.
A little robot is dropped with the trash from a spaceship and finds himself in an unfamiliar snowy place. In the spring he meets a little sparrow who befriends him and stays with him until winter is coming again. Very cute story with wonderful illustrations.
Very sweet and charming. Best end to a picture book. But like, wanted a scene where the sparrow comes back :(. Still made me emotional and now im reading and watching all this man's stuff
"He learned that not everything is Sparrow's world was sweet. Some things had a sting to them. Other things were better left alone. And some scary things... were actually beautiful."
This is a great book that teaches students how to love even when someone doesn't look like them. This book is about a mother bird that teacher the robot how to fly.
