An attempt on the life of the Prime Minister makes Bronwyn believe that not only had the assassination been aimed at her, but that her evil ex-boyfriend, Jason Gladstone, the college sweetheart who had once tried to drain her of her powers, has returned, in the sequel to Charmed & Ready and Charmed & Dangerous. Original.

*WARNING* intended for mature readers I can see why these need to be read in order. The story and character development continue from book to book. The characters make me think of "Girl Power". The three women 5 women most talked about throughout these books are strong, brave, and loyal. All 3 stories books were amazing and I would recommend them to any adult.
Another installment of the adventures of Bronwyn the witch, it is another great and fast paced book, I read it in a matter of hours, it made me smile, laugh and go aww, everything you need for a summer read and now matter how much I enjoyed it (and I did) I just didn't enjoy it as much as the first two. No idea why.
Bronwyn is her usual feisty self and we meet all of our favourite characters, Dr Sam in particular. There is a rather nice scene of them trying out the new shower some of you might like, *wink* but I am getting distracted. Whilst saving the world Bronwyn feels he magical signature of her ex boyfriend Jason, this is something she should never have felt, after he tried to steal her powers and kill her he was locked up in magic prison by the spook squad. But someone let him out and he has an axe to grind. On top of that her family members and friends are disappearing and she feels drained, are they all connected? Not necessarily.
I did like the book, it was light and fluffy, the diary/journal style allows for Bronwyn to get into mortal danger and then appear 3 days later and tell you what happened, relaxing the reader. But I do feel that in a couple of places it was rushed, her confrontation with Jason is an example, as it actually belongs in a wider story arc. This is a complex plot, with many characters, multiple baddies and multiple plots which weave in and out of each other. All of this is handled really well and you begin to feel Bronwyn pulled in all different directions and the effect it is having on her.
The end of the book suggests there could be another, setting up a new plot, and I hope there will be, although at the moment there seems to be no sign. As I have said before the books are quite hard to get but you can get them second hand. An engaging and magical tale of magic, family, friends and love. What more could you want on a summers day?
I give Charmed and Deadly 3.5 frilly knickers out of 5. A frilly bikini read!
The third in the "Bronwyn" series by Candace Havens. Bronwyn is a Texas witch whose job (you'll never believe it) is to protect the British Prime Minister. She travels with him to summits, attends meetings, and generally lets him know when someone is out to get him. And any book that can start chapters with things like: Location: Paris, at the moment Spells: 15 Dead guys: Too many to count Pissed-off, stressed-out witches: 1 Is pretty fun to read.
OK, the review. For a book that is so humorous, it definitely covers some hairy situations and serious plot points. It's entertaining and satisfying at the same time. My only complaint is the three or four major plot lines in this book don't intertwine as much as I might have expected, with some seeming to be wrapped up too soon and too easily, with less impact on the main plot as I would prefer. Bronwyn's circle of friends is an eclectic and wonderful bunch, adding depth and variety to the story. Her world travels always leave her yearning to return to Sweet, Texas, and the supernatural elements keep it lively and exciting. Classic literature? Maybe not. But still fun to read.
The first 2 books in this series were a good combination of fluff and fun plots/characters. This third book went way off the radar and the author seemed confused regarding the story arch we were in. I didn't understand why Havens even mentioned that Bronwyn had a miscarriage if it didn't mean anything for the rest of the story. Jason said at the end it was his doing that ended her pregnancy ---how??? Why even bring it up?? I thought the pregnancy story line could have been so much cooler, like her unborn child had magic too!
The ending brought so many new ideas and plot lines to the table (all left open-ended without a fourth book in sight) I felt as if I had finished one book and started a new one within a few chapters. Some of the new plot lines mentioned include: Bronwyn is developing a new power even though we didn't get to see her take ownership of her earth shaking power from the last book; Garnout the wizard tells her she will have a grave responsibility soon; Calinda may return even though they banished her; Jason told her the one closest to her will destroy her; etc. Anyway, I won't re-read this at all ever, but the first two I will keep around for fun as a beach read.

I wanted to like this book; it had all sorts of elements that could have been a great story, but the characters were so flat that there wasn't much to hold on to. Starting in the middle of the series possibly didn't help, though the backstory was easy enough to pick up.
Where this fell completely apart for me was the scorecard at the beginning of each chapter. The bodycount. The entire tone of the book was "kill multiple people, dust off hands, go eat lunch." The death toll was high and the protag had all the emotion about it of someone who'd just taken out the garbage. Less, even. Sorry, no matter how evil the person, killing them requires a little more reflection than trying to shake a clingy bit of cellophane off your fingers. It was worse than Anita Blake in this department. Chicklit doesn't have to equal completely shallow. I won't be reading more of this series.
I've really enjoyed all of the Bronwyn the witch series by Candace Havens. Bronwyn is a spunky, smart and funny character and also a strong female protagonist, who not only looks after herself, but also protects and when necessary saves all those she cares about.
The story in this third book is similar to the others - Bronwyn goes around the world protecting the British PM, and along the way discovers and destroys anyone using black magic to do evil deeds. Unfortunately, in Bronwyn's world there are an awful lot of bad magical people running around causing trouble! She is one busy witch.
These stories are fun, fast and easy reads with entertaining plots and plenty of excitement. If you like light paranormal fiction then I recommend this entire series - and, for that matter, any other books by Candace Havens - as enjoyable reads.
Like the previous book, I loved this book. I like the character in this series, she is everything that I want in a lead kick ass character. A little bit Buffy, a Litte Bit Willow. She is tough enough to prevail, but human enough to suffer and boy she proves that in this one.
I am glad that she had a new nemisis to battle for this book and it was not Blackstock again. I don't think we have seen the last of blackstock, but I do like it being mixed up a bit.
I love this series and can not wait for the next one.
Between the stupid miscarriage, the stupid non-ending at the end of the book, and the two stupid psuedo-endings in the middle, this book was more disappointing than the first two in the series. This is unfortunate because there was a lot of promise in the first, in-the-jungle, storyline. Oh well. I really find it hard to believe that the author has had any life experience at all. I just can't relate to the way she portrays women, friendship, and romantic relationships. I am glad to set this series aside.

This is the last book in the series right now but it is left up in the air so I believe we can look for at least one more. I still have a hard time reading these due to the writing. I should be use to it being written all in diary entries by now but I just feel like I am missing so much of the story that way. Feels a bit like a writer cop out instead of a unique way to write a book. That being said, if you like the others in the series, you should feel the same about this one. If you have not read the book preceding this...do not start here, you will never catch up.
This book was choppy, and it just didn't click for me. I did not read the two preceding books in this series, so that may be part of the problem...the constant references to things that happened in the past didn't really resonate. It was also annoyingly incomplete...clearly setting up for a next book.
In addition, there were too many undeveloped subplots...perhaps more carryovers from the earlier books? It just made for a rather disjointed read. I was disappointed. It had looked promising.
Book 3 in the Bronwyn the Witch series of books. Once again she's traveling all over the world, this time much of the action taking place in Africa. An ex-boyfriend is out to kill her and she has to confront him and then help take on the person that was behind him and is way more powerful than he was.
Sweet, Texas is there as always, and Lulu's chicken. Her relationship with Sam is still going on, but Aziz is still there as is, of course, the Prime Minister and Miles. It's another good, if slightly repetitious book in the series.
Bronwyn runs into more magical hijinks. This one involves her crazy warlock ex-boyfriend who once tried to kill her, a psychotic sorceress, and an African adventure to rescue her kidnapped brother.
Chock full of action, per the usual, but a little more on the sad side. There is also more of a hopeless feeling, with Bronwyn being outmatched and continually at the bad guys' mercy.
this was a typical romance novel sequel. a bit that i particularly enjoyed was that it was understandable despite that i never read the original. however, i liked the world setup and the bad guys were interesting and fun, but i was a bit annoyed by Bronwyn's frustration/ bizarrely distant yet clingy boyfriend. overall, enjoyable but shallow.

Breezy, chick-lit paranormal fantasy starring Bronwyn, a High Witch with phenominal powers. This has a lot of glossed-over violence, and Bronwyn comes across as rather super heroish, but these books are a lot of light fun despite the high body counts.
i'm kinda over people trying to kill her. like how many enemies can one person have when we actually have never read about her making an enemy. still love bronwyn as a character though. this one was a lot less predictable than others which i liked. i still have a leary feeling about sam. i really want her to end up with the sheik
Bronwyn is back protecting the prime minister but it seems that she is the one they are trying to kill. It is a great adventure that Bronwyn takes the reader on to stop the bad guys and somehow manage to survive.
Some people say they have an ex-boyfriend from hell, Bronwyn's ex is hellish. It's never a good thing when you get tied up and become a blood sacrifice. Yikes. I liked the tied up part but the other parts, not so much. This was a fast and good read. Enjoyable to the last word.
I really liked this book, definitely better relationship between Sam and Bronwyn. I don't know if that was last book but it left off too open for me. I am looking forward to reading Bron friend Kira story. Anyway I hope there is more to this series cause I really enjoyed it.
The impression I got from the end of the book is that there is going to be another one after this. I hope so. I find all the character a bit interesting.
