SHE'S HEARTBROKEN. HE'S A HEART-BREAKER.

Elle Phillips's relationship with the Forsaken Motorcycle Club is strained, much like the relationship she had with her father, a Forsaken brother, before he died. The only piece of Forsaken that Elle wants to hold onto is their sergeant-at-arms and her former lover, Sterling “Bloody Knuckles” Grady. Unfortunately, Grady's moved on and he doesn't seem to be coming back. With her heart hurting over one man who's died and another who's practically dead to her, Elle throws herself into her work as a private investigator and tries to keep a low profile where the club's concerned. But when a case comes along that she can't refuse, she finds herself embroiled in club business in a way that leaves her questioning everything she thought she knew about Forsaken.

Diesel knows that keeping tabs on Elle Phillips is going to bring him trouble. He already loves her even though he barely knows her, but when Grady asks Diesel to keep her safe, he can't say no. His patience has run out and he's going to do anything to get Elle to realize he's the man she's been craving-- even going behind the club's back to help her solve a case she shouldn't be working.

Real love is always the cure.

I knew I was waiting for this and I jumped right in. What I didn't do (and usually do) is skim the earlier books to remind myself whose who. I wish I had. I think you would get more from the story having the previous books fresh in your mind.

Having said that... I loved Diesel. Straight talking hunk of man. Elle starts off in a bad place emotionally and has to work around her own feelings and insecurities.

Can't wait for Amber and Wyatt's book.

3 Diesel Loving Stars!

Source: eARC for Honest Review Courtesy of Author and Inkslinger PR

After Rev (Bayonet Scars #3), I've been dying to find out what happened with Elle, as I felt like her story line was left too open.  Thankfully we now get to see what happened with her.

Elle is hired to help solve a mystery which caused her to come home, which makes her have to lick her wounds where it concerns Grady and the Forsaken Motorcycle Club.  Elle not only has a chip on her shoulder from Grady but also from her father.

Diesel, whom is also part of the MC has had his eye for Elle forever.  For now he was just waiting his time until Elle gets over her shit and wants to move forward.  Even though Grady wasn't in love with Elle, it doesn't mean he doesn't care about her.  He asks Diesel to help Elle, to keep her safe as she's getting herself in trouble with her new assignment.

Diesel's patient and loyal.  While Elle has her own issues causing her to be whiny at times.  Thankfully Diesel knows when to pounce.

" . . . If you weren't thinking about it, then you'd have said something by now, but you didn't so I'm just gonna throw this out and see where it lands--you and me, babe--we're gonna happen.  Not today because you've got a heart full of hurt, but soon."

Elle has a world of trust issues, and yes some are warranted but they got tiresome and I wanted her to just pull her big girl panties up and get over it.

"Something you're gonna get about me eventually is this--I tell you I'm gonna do something, I fucking do it.  I say you're gonna trust me, you're going to because I'm showing you that you can trust me.  I say we're gonna happen, it's because I'm gonna make us happen."

This was a sweet addition to this series but didn't feel like it was completely necessary.  I did like finding out more about Elle, but I didn't fall in love with her character.  But I did fall for Diesel.  The more quiet ones are often the most charming in the end.  This novella felt like a bit of a side track to the main story,  and it was somewhat cute and quick.  I liked it but didn't love it.  But in the end I can't wait for more from this series to see how it all ends as so many elements are still left unanswered.

While Diesel's story has developed in previous installments of this series, I didn't feel the same development with Elle.

"Now I'm looking at you - really looking at you - I know that you're not it for me either."

With the past ten years suddenly being revealed as what it truly was Elle is in the stages of grief. Losing herself to her feelings is a foreign concept and one she does not handle well. Mourning the loss of her father who honed her into his perfect ideal of a tough biker chick, proud of her heritage and her first real relationship as empty as it was with Grady. The girl has daddy issues, confidence issues and a whole load of trouble coming her way.

Diesel has watched her waste part of herself longing after a man that could never love her. In the shadows he has bided his time until her eyes were open to the truth. Asked by Grady to look out for her and treat her well Diesel seizes the opportunity to go get his gal! Slowly building her trust as you would a feral stray, Diesel proves he is their to stay always having her back. When she a receives a call for work the pair of them go on a wild ride that will either make or break them.

Crave is a short but action packed novella in this series. It sets up the left part of the story and leaves many plot lines wide open to be explored further. It sees Elle accept who she is, come to terms with her secret longings and cravings to be something more than a tough biker bitch. She embraces all her broken pieces and Diesel seems to be the glue that helps to keep her together. I can't wait for the highly anticipated Haunt...

A four star she has beautiful feathers read.

11 months till Mancuso's downfall...this is like torture, I need to see this downfall, I need it!!!!

Grady hurt Elle, unknowingly, and coupled with her Dad issues, her self confidence is at an all time low. Then Diesel swoops in and takes what he has been waiting for. He does it excellently, the words from this man's mouth could charm the undies off a nun, mine were round my ankles when he started talking baahaha!

Elle is conflicted : 'I don't know what to do with an honest man who isn't exactly verbose with his feelings but let's them be known and isn't shy about it.'

Will Diesel get his woman???

But let me just take a moment and say how I need Amber and Wyatt's book.....hot damn the lead up in this book to it, it is going to be explosive! I will be stalking the authors page daily for news!

I love this series, but I was a bit lost with Diesel and Elle's story. It was quick and short, but too much so. Everything happens so fast and I felt like I was missing parts of the events that lead up to Crave. I know it had been a while since I read the previous releases and I found myself referring back to them to catch up.

There wasn't much build up for Diesel and Elle getting together, so it was hard for me to understand how quickly the L word was being thrown out. It was explained, but not in a way that I could experience it with the characters.

Nevertheless, they were great characters and held true to this series' theme of amazing alpha bikers and badass chicks.

Diesel ❤️

I enjoyed Crave ~ I just wished it was longer. It would have been nice to see more of Diesel and Elle together. I wasn't sure at first how I felt about Elle. As the story moved along, more of her personality was exposed, combining strong and tough (she does PI work) with a tiny bit more feminine softness. Elle recruits Diesel to help find her kidnapped nephew, who just so happens to be the son of Forsaken's VP, Wyatt. This book sets the reader up for the next in the series, Haunt—Amber and Wyatt's story.

Diesel has a way with words, “glad you’re talking, sharing, trusting me. ‘Bout time for it too, but I gotta say it, babe. Your head is effed right now.” He can be a light hearted guy, “either you’re thinking about sucking my ***k or you got something to say I’m not gonna like.” I flash her a wide grin that I’m not certain she can even see. “If you wanna suck my ***k, baby, you don’t have to ask.” I love this series I can't wait for the next book.

DIESEL AND ELLE

This was a short novella but much better than Vow. I am glad that Elle found someone for herself after her hook up with Grady ended with him falling for Holly. And what a man she has found in Diesel!

i really don't like these novellas at all. this one: well Elle goes from madly in love with Grady to madly in love with diesel in a flash- hate insta love. i really wanted a full novel for diesel instead we got this! it was beyond disappointing. i only read them cos they are vital link books between the novels and this most certainly is necessary to read before wyatt and ambers book which i must say has me hooked from page one, i can't devour it fast enough its that good. going from 5 star books to these which just scrape a 2 star is just disheartening. story was rushed, not developed and resolved too quickly. grrr just annoying full stop. Elle is not a likeable character, she as a total bitch to Holly and not much better in this book which frankly does nothing remotely to get us to connect with her. i was expecting a character something in the vein of jamie begleys killyama (fellow kick arse bounty hunter) but alas Elle was decidedly lacking in everything.

please stop with these novellas they do nothing for the series and just piss your readers off. and seriously i am a mega mega fan of the bayonet series and given 3 x 5 star reviews so far. but i can't do that with this book. i honestly wouldnt have even thought it was the same author it is just so different to the rest of the series.

totally disappointed ! please no more novelllas

Quick read. Wished it was longer but, unsure if I would want Emery to make it longer as her writing is hit and miss. So far the sex scene between the two at the motel is the best written sex scene I've seen her write. So she got better there.

I loved Diesel from Nic/Duke's story. He's good to the woman. Takes care of them. Love that

These two had a rough go of it. Amber thought Wyatt wasn't ready to be a Dad and she was right. Wyatt has a fourteen year old mini me and a beautiful daughter with a wonderful sassy strong stubborn woman. Was so glad they got their story.

Normally not so fond of novellas but I actually very much enjoyed this one. I think it could have even been a 5 star for me if there were more AFTER the “thriller/mystery” part were resolved. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of them after they got together.

Crave (Bayonet Scars #5.5)
By: JC Emery
4/5 stars

Elle Phillips has long since had a difficult, strained and sometimes estranged relationship with her father, Chief, a now deceased member of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club. Her only real connection to Forsaken was mainly through Grady as they had been friends with benefits for years. Grady was 10+ years older than Elle and also her father’s best friend. At first this also made me wonder if she had daddy issues, which she actually did. But once Grady hooked up with Holly, Elle was dropped faster than he even had a thought.

Diesel has had a long crush on Elle and always believed that she deserved better than Grady ever treated her and more than he ever offered her. Diesel wants Elle, but has never crossed any line with her because of her connection with Grady. But he ends up keeping tabs on Elle for Grady and thus getting to know her a little better.

Elle is a private detective and when she gets a case that also involves club business she knows that she can’t talk to anyone in the club about her newest assignment. But Diesel is determined to stick with her. He doesn’t know her assignment either, but will never leave her high and dry.

What I didn’t like about this novella was the insta-love. There wasn’t time for their relationship to develop and thus deeper feelings. I think that it could have been done better had the author shown us the getting to know each other period and all the times that Diesel spent checking in on her. But those weren’t expounded upon, only his last visit.

There are some crazy revelations and I can hardly wait for the next book because the personal drama in that one should be ramped up!

I will honestly say that I didn’t like Elle when I first met her in Grady’s story. I don’t know there was just something about her however after read her story I like her a little better. Although there are times when she acts more like a spoiled child than an adult. She was in love with Grady for a long time or so she thought but then Grady found his true love and moved on. Elle and Grady had a friends with benefits sort of relationship before however he never gave any indication that it was more.

Then comes Diesel who has been told by Grady to keep an eye on Elle. After all she is a fallen Forsaken brother’s daughter which makes her family and Forsaken takes care of their own. Diesel knows that Elle is the one he wants and has been patiently waiting for her. Elle is asked to search for a Forsaken brother that is in hiding and when he takes her nephew Diesel puts Elle first and heads out to help her. Although what he learns along the way is a bit shocking.

JC Emery did a great job of tying up loose ends with Elle as well as giving Diesel a love interest. Not to mention setting the next book up perfectly. I fell in love with the Forsaken MC from the very first book and continue to do so with each one. In fact my sister is super angry that I actually got to read this one early.

I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was first published at Blushing Reads.

Received a copy of the title in exchange for an honest review.

As we get closer to the Mancuso downfall, we see Elle move on from her time with Grady. Elle was Grady's "in between", between his first old lady and Dawn and I can't really say that I understood that aspect in the previous books. For whatever reason, I went into this thinking Elle had been his first and that she was badly scorned by his moving on with Dawn.

...it was easy to forget about Elle's time with Grady, though. Grady cared enough about Elle to push Diesel toward her, and while it started out as protection, I truly enjoyed watching Elle fall for him -- because he had already fallen for her.

This was a greatly written shorter book to the BAYONET SCARS series. I love seeing the brief moments of other characters, but what I love the most about Emery's shorter books is that there is more emphasis on the book's main couple.

There is, though, a ton of set up for Wyatt and Amber's book -- from the moments between Elle and Amber, and then Diesel learning things about Amber... I'm truly excited for that book -- probably the most excited I've been for any in this series.

I love the men of Forsaken. I had no idea that Grady had someone in his life for 10 years before Holly. Elle grew up in the club but not necessarily getting a good part of the club. Her father may have loved her but wanted her to be tough, unlike he treated his other daughter. The Elle gets involved with someone she thought could be her possible forever but he too was broken and she thought she was giving him what he wanted/needed. She was wrong. Now she has to deal with the hurt she feels from the loss of her father and the loss of a 10 year "relationship".
Diesel. he has been watching Elle and wondering when she was going to figure out Grady wasn't right. When she finally does she asks Deisel to help her and not let the club know. Diesel helps but also understands this could be a problem with the club if they find out, but he wants to be there for Elle.
Together they start a relationship and help an important family member of the club.

I look forward to the next installment of Forsaken

This is a great quick novella in the Bayonet Scars MC series. I absolutely love all the characters in the series.

This is Elle and Diesel's story.

Elle is a Private Investigator, she's good at it too. She's still trying to get over Grady. She was "with" him for ten years and with the recent loss of her dad, Chief, it's not that easy. Especially since he basically dropped her for Holly. Don't get me wrong, I love Holly and Grady together. Elle thought she was in love with him.

Elle's newest job is to try to catch Rig, she's distanced herself some from Forsaken, but she knows that doing this, is getting involved in club business.

Diesel has been tasked to keep eyes on Elle by Grady. Diesel has been in love with her for awhile now. But by doing this, he helps her out on this job, without telling his brothers.

Secrets do come out when Elle's nephew goes missing and they go to get him back.

This story sets up Amber and Wyatt's story and I honestly can't wait to see what will happen now that those secrets are coming out.

I feel bad for Elle, being hung up on a man who no longer wants you and has moved on to be happily in love with someone else has to be hard. Thing is, Grady never made her any promises, they never had anything beyond sex. He should have known better than to start anything with her when she was only 19 years old and then keep it going for so many years, of course she's going to get crazy ideas in her head!

This was such a confusing read only because I have read every book in this series but cannot for the life of me remember who the hell Amber is? Apparently she plays an extremely important role not only in Forsaken legacy, but in Wyatt's life...still no clue who she is. Glad to know the next book is her and Wyatt's story because I need more background information.

Overall, I'm glad Elle opened up her eyes, heart and soul to Diesel because Grady never deserved her, even if he didn't hook up with Holly.

I really, really wish that Elle and Diesel's story was full length. I have been dying to get to know the both of them. The fact that they end up together makes it even better! That beig said, I was really sad that their story was rushed and squeezed into a novella. I feel like there could be such an amazing story for both of them. I realize that this particular book is really just a set up for the next book (Haunt), but I feel a little cheated.

It was really only touched upon why Elle acts the way that she does. I was left a little confused about the insta-love aspect of the book. I would have loved their relationship to have a little more time and development then a road trip and some hot sex.

Again, read the books in order to better understand the story line and characters. I am really excited for Haunt to see where the story progresses from here!

I love JC Emery's Bayonet Scars series and even though Elle and Diesel's book was just a novella, there was so much packed into it that it felt like a meal and not just a snack. Grady played with Elle's body and emotions and it seemed like she was done with men...but Diesel was just the man to make her forget and move on with someone new.
The scenes when they discover each other were intense and oh so sexy...I love that build of feelings just before things get physical. This novella ended with some big reveals that will lead into the next book and I can't wait for it!

Loved this novella, it starts out with Elle still mad at Grady for picking Holly over her. But Diesel is there for her and he's always had feelings for her so things with them go pretty fast. Diesel has a way with words and he had Elle putty in his hands and their scenes together were hot. I wish their story was longer but I can't wait for Wyatt and Amber's story.

4.75 Stars! When I first added this book to my TBR I wasn't sure I was going to like it. I love Grady and Holly together and I didn't want Elle to come between them. I'm so glad that didn't happen. Elle and Diesel are so good together. This is a novella so Elle and Diesel getting together was very quick, but JC Emery made it work. I love this series and I can't wait to read about Wyatt.

A good short read about Diesel and Elle. It's nice to get their story as a bridge to Amber and Wyatt's story coming next. This was released as a novella, so the length is as expected. But I really would have liked to read a more developed relationship between Diesel and Elle, as this is what really makes the other books in the series so.good.

What a surprise

I really didn't like Elle, loved Grady with Holly, wanted Holly to kick her to the curb...but have to say really felt bad for her and her raw deal Grady lead her on, liked her and diesel together .found out that Grady was being a manwhore and Holly was the one to change him. Can't wait for Amber and Wyatt story.

A short sweet story. To be honest, I wish there was more to it. I was curious about Elle when we first me her in Grady's book 'Rev' and I just wanted to see more of this couple together.

But with this story, we was introduced to Amber Wallace, who shares a story with Wyatt. And let me tell you, I was itching to start Haunt before even finishing this one.
