Truth & Lies Series

Aged out of the system and battle worn from unsuccessful foster care, four women on the cusp of adulthood find passion and their paths in life through the help of an anonymous fairy godmother type who calls herself the Benefactrix.

Book Two: Truth Reveals

When Maryanne is given a scholarship to spend the summer after high school painting in the French countryside, she tries to reinvent herself from the foster kid whose parents loved meth more than they did her. But when Henri, the French caretaker of the chateau she's staying at, treats her like a spoiled rich girl, she's determined to make him sorry and seduces him--only it backfires and she's the one enthralled. Taken aback by the dark passion and the intense lovemaking, Maryanne feels forced to keep up the lie when a gossipy neighbor tells her that Henri is looking for an heiress to save the chateau from creditors.

Very steamy, seductive and compelling romance with BDSM elements
This is the first rope bondage book by Ms. Schmidt that I’ve read. I was entranced immediately. The premise for this whole series is that four girls who grew up in an orphanage and became fast-friends are given gifts by a Benefactrix. Each book tells the story of one of these girls. This book is about Maryanne whose parents have been arrested, released, rearrested so many times over her young childhood. Maryanne has been let down by her parents but not her best friends. Now she is given an opportunity to study art in France b/c of the anonymous benefactor.
When she gets off the bus, 18yo Maryanne is met by one large thuggish looking man, Henri Dubois, 27yo. After she realizes he’s not there to attack her, they drive off to the Chateau that Henri and his maman own and operate. So many intriguing things happen to Maryanne. Her art blossoms and so does her affection for Henri. Lots of angst, a woman who should know better, misunderstanding about her wealth and friends who become enemies as well as enemies who become friends.
Some very naughty action occurs between Maryanne and Henri. It is wonderful! This was undoubtedly one of Ms. Schmidt’s best. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout and it comes highly recommended for lovers of steamy, dreamy, creamy romances. I give it 5+ Stars.

Maryanne is turned into a orphanage when her parents are arrested for using drugs. She ages out of the place when she turns eighteen and now she has to figure out what she will be doing with her life. When she is given a chance to go to France to study art from an anonymous person. Henri meets her when she arrives and at first she is wary of him but once she knew he wasn't going to rob her Maryanne relaxed somewhat. Maryanne starts to love everything about France and things heat up between her and Henri. Will Henri convince her to stay with him in France? Will Maryanne finally get the happiness she deserves?

This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book to any book lover.

This is book two in the Truth and Lies series, I did not realize and I have not read book one. However, I was able to get the jest of the series story line and was still able to read and enjoy book two. This is Maryanne's story of her childhood in the foster care system and how now she is an adult and ready to spread her wings in the world. While Maryanne is staying at a french chateau learning and painting on a scholarship, she meets Henri. She believes Henri is the chateau's caretaker but he is so much more and under the impression that Maryanne is some sort of heiress. What happens when the whole truth comes out? What happens when your heart is already involved? I looked forward to reading more in this series and plan to go back to book one. Enjoy!

I've not read Truth Kills yet but I read the prologue of the series and I think the idea of the Truth & Lies series is interesring. Truth Reveal, Maryanne and Henri's story, is kind of an older man and younger woman roman which I rarely read it. But the book is well written with a good story line. However I am not into any kind of BDSM even they are mind one (just some spanking and ropes though) so if you don't like kinky sex, I don"t recommend this book. But if you enjou reading something kinky, I recommend this one.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The book is about Maryanne was alone for most of her life. Her parents was not there for her when she was a child. She had to take care of herself most of her life. Maryanne was in a group home for the children. When she aged out of the home her and a few other girls they got an apartment in New Haven so they can be together. Maryanne graduation and then she and the others was called in to Mother Superior's office. Now would be the best time to get the book so you know what happens. I will be getting more from this author. Thank You for writing the books so we care read them.

Wow! You will not want to put this book down. Jamie K. Schmidt’s writing is flawless and the story delivered more than I expected and it was so easy to get lost in. It held my attention and kept me fascinated and turning the pages from beginning to end. I absolutely adored Maryanne and Henri together and their chemistry was palpable. This book had it all! It's sexy, had charming characters, sexual tension, lies, and love. A fantastic story and a definite must read!

OMG what a story this is. The storyline is great and the characters are as well. And then we get to the ample + 21 scenes they are quite good as well. I believe this is the first story I read by this author but it will certainly not be the last one. I just hope you will enjoy it too.

Truth Reveals is MaryAnne and Henri's story. The book has a good story line and is well written. The book was good enough to hold my attention, definitely a page turner. The chemistry between Maryanne and Henri was outstanding. I want to go back and read the first book but you don't have to. This is a standalone story. I absolutely loved this book. After the horrible childhood Maryanne has, she gets to study art in France. Henri sweeps her off her feet. Loved how much he cared for her in his own way. The descriptions throughout were excellent.

I tried,i really did….
But i guess it’s not my kind of story.
Even though it’s an age-gap mafia story.
And the blurb sounded good.
I just didn’t feel the connection.

This was an enjoyable read and a good addition to this series. I will say that I still liked the first book better. This one the story was fairly predictable and the storyline was just missing something. I still really enjoyed this read and will continue to read the other books in this series when they are released.

What I think I had the hardest part with in this book was that it lacked a WOW factor like the first book. Truth Kills was all about the mystery and romance and sex and it kept you on your toes, but this one really didn't have that. I felt kind of underwhelmed once the "lie" was revealed. The author did try to add some element of surprise when it came to Lenore, but by that time I felt it was too late to be in the storyline. I would've liked the Lenore storyline to have played more of a role in the book, because that would've brought in that element of mystery and suspense.

All in all I enjoyed this book and would recommend to readers. Just like the first book, this is a standalone story and you don't have to read Truth Kills first to understand the story. Jamie does a great job connecting the dots for the reader so you know how everyone is connected and what part they play in each others lives.
