Avery is a new divorcee just about to turn forty. She finds herself relocating and remaking herself after the demise of an eighteen year marriage. In the process of exploring the area where she just moved, she meets a tall cowboy named Joshua. They then run into each other at the store and before she knows it, he’s making dinner at her place. What is soon to be revealed is that Joshua is a dominant male who knows what he wants and takes it. He wants Avery, and despite her feelings of inadequacy, he initiates intimacy within the first day of their meeting.
Avery is swept along as his masculine need overtakes all of her life. She bounces between elation and uncertainty. It all feels like too much. In comparison to her previous vanilla existence, it is too much, but Joshua insists she let him show her what it feels like on the other side. The side of passion, adrenaline backed memories, lust, dominance, submission and endorphin induced pleasure.

This is a contemporary erotic romance with strong BDSM overtones and the D/s M/f dynamic.

I am an indie author, which translates to starving author. I don't have another job to support my writing endeavors. Hence, I cannot afford professional editors. Everything I produce is well polished and proof read numerous times, but there are still errors. There will always be easily found imperfections in all my work. If you cannot look past these minor flaws and still enjoy my exceptional stories, please don't read my titles. If you don't mind a missing comma here or there, and you're craving something unique, then you'll love my stories. In general I'll agree this genre is full of the vapid and vain. My stories are anything but. Payne

I released my first non-fiction, memoir and poetry collection on February 14th 2017. It is available in print and digital through Amazon.
I'm excited to have produced my first memoir, and pleased with not only my execution of this piece, but also my confessions and self-revelations. My poetry is the best I've ever written.
Don't miss this one. It's entirely different from my fictional works.

Please note: On Sept. 14th/2016, I managed to infuriate a group of Facebook "trolls" and in return they gang bullied my work by posting 1* ratings and malicious comments/reviews on all of my titles. This happened for the most part on Goodreads, but a few snuck in on Amazon through the KU program because of the free option.
I find this behavior reprehensible because it had nothing to do with my work, (I've always only been about the work, and tried to not make any of it personal). They never read a word I wrote. It was purely a personal attack.

Avery finds herself single after 18 years of marriage; she moves to a small town looking for a fresh start and to find out who Avery really is. She meets interesting towns folk and is even offered a job at a Chocolate store.

"She was immediately drawn by the delectable scents wafting from a small chocolate house and went in to see what they had to offer. She loved good chocolate and perused the offerings, her mouth-watering from the vast display of homemade delicacies."

"We only lock our cars during zucchini season so our friends don't fill them up with squash-its small town humor."

This talented author weaves a tale of love and belonging, with a theme of the importance of finding yourself and living true to your calling. She is an animal and horse lover and her horse knowledge shines through in her books.

"So she talked, She wasn't sure how long she'd been going on, but she began to spill out her heart to the large quadruped...The horse seemed to listen, and snuffled, snorted or tossed his head at the exact appropriate moments. Once in a while he would nudge her arm and rub his nose on her sleeve."

"The man walked with an air of self-assurance and his broad shoulders reminded her of a superhero. He was the epitome of cool and calm, and everything about him appeared athletic, balanced and strong. He was gorgeous in the most charismatic, rugged kind of way."

I very much enjoyed this latest book by Payne Hawthorne.

It never ceases to amaze me at how much talent this author truly has. She has taken a very dicey topic and spun her tale to give it a bit of fantasy flavour that any woman who finds herself in the shoes of Avery wishes she could experience. After her husband of 18 years decides he's had enough and leaves her for another woman, Avery finds herself alone and very unsure of what to do with herself. She moves to a nearby community, basically on the ocean, where she has always dreamed of living. She also decides it's time to start emptying her bucket list by doing more of what she dreams of. Joshua knows she's the one for him as soon as he meets her. She's holding the reins of his runaway horse, but doesn't realize just how tight she's holding the reins to his heart. He plans to show her if it's the last thing he does. As an alpha dominant male, he knows how, if she will let him get close enough.
An extremely well written book that will have you in tears at times, feeling pity and sorrow during others, but most of all, you will feel the love. If you've ever experienced a long-term relationship break-up, you should be able to relate to the characters Ms. Hawthorne has created for us. Once again, outstanding job Payne.
