This is The Millennia Trilogy. A thoroughly modern story taking an edgy, illuminating look at magic, past lives, and the miracles of healing.
Who we are now is not who we've always been. We've known each other so many times, when we were man, when we were woman, from this part of the world, from that - so many lifetimes have we spanned, over so many thousands of years. There is no separation between any of us; we have all experienced such a multitude of different faces that we can no longer claim not to know each other.
Where the past intersects, the future is born. This is BORDER LAND.
When Nadia Gabrielli meets photographer Seren Kendrix on a dimly-lit street in Milan, she has every idea how extraordinary the woman is. What she doesn't know is if she'll ever see her again.
But as they are drawn into each other's orbit, the realization hits that what they can share, and each do for the other, is beyond anything either of them ever envisioned.
While the world spins slowly on its axis, Seren and Nadia recognize that their history together spans many lifetimes, and that this time around they have a task to accomplish. One upon which so much hinges.
They must believe the impossible, reach out to touch the magic of forever - and heal each other.
Two women. Countless past lives. The degrees of separation just disappeared.
Shape shifters, time shifters and two women drawn together ( some what unwillingly) by forces unseen.
This book is so out of my normal reading pattern that I hardly know how to describe it. The book has a dreamy quality to it to the degree you think Seren's frequent marijuana use might be autobiographical. Genet builds a mystical connection between Nadia and Seren slowly, like a big cat stalking its prey. When these two finally come together theirs is one powerful bond. The scene in Nadia's kitchen sizzles. Much more than steak and mushrooms were cooking. The second half of the novel is filled with an almost supernatural attraction between the two women.
I am not the biggest fan of mystical, magical, time-travelling storylines but the writing has its moments of beauty. A reader with an open mind and a vivid imagination can sink right into this book.
I approach this book with no expectation and started reading open-minded. This was not a conventional novel. It was so different from anything I've read and I really loved it. A highly unique story, moving in all ways. A story full of mind blowing passionately love, about two women bound forever and profound changes that are taking place. It was an amazing journey into the mind and it's incredible power. The sentence "we are so much more than one experience in one body with one life" will always stay with me. It was hard to put this book down in which to deal with real life day to day activities. I'm looking forward to the sequel. I have to know what is going to happen next. Beyond doubt, I can higly recommend this.
