I was born and raised in Joliet, IL. I wrote my first story in the 3rd grade and fell in love with creating my own world. But throughout the years I have lacked the discipline to actually sit down and write. Even with a minor in Creative Writing (which should have been my major).
I have been a avid romance novel reader since Jr. High and have read hundreds. I have lived in Chicago, Japan, California and now reside in Arizona. And I wanted nothing more than to combine my love of romance, writing and traveling and put them in a book.
So one day out of the blue while in the middle of reading another book, the story that I had started months ago kept bombarding my every thought. Until I couldn't even continue to read the book I was in the middle of. I put down my Nook and picked up my laptop and about fifteen days later, I had finished my first draft of my manuscript. It was the most exhilarating moment of my life. To know that I finally did it. That I finally finished something that I had started. And now I'm and AUTHOR and PUBLISHER! I never would have thought that was possible three months ago. I just hope that everyone that picks up any of the books I write from here on out, enjoy them as much as I did writing them.

Just when I thought Twyla Turner could never write a couple who would rival Sloan and Lexi from her bestselling Damaged Souls series, here she comes with Chase and Daylen, and I am still in my feels!

Catching Day and Chasing Day are a sprawling, heartbreaking, poignant, romantic drama that spans a whopping 30 years, and this is what I absolutely love about this story. The reader witnesses these two individuals (literally and figuratively) as they grow from children to mature adults. We experience their triumphs and tragedies, as well as their fortunes and mishaps. You, too, will be an emotional wreck.

Chase McCoy seems to have it all on the outside-cute, golden-haired, popular (even in grade school!), but what everyone doesn’t know is he’s not a very happy person because looks are certainly deceiving. One day on the school bus, this mini knight in shining armor comes to the rescue of a cute lil chubby bunny named Daylen Daniels when she is mercilessly bullied by a couple of mean girls. That incident was not only their introduction to one another, but the beginning of the rest of their lives as best friends…and more.

Love, love, love how we see the progression of Chase and Day (as she’s affectionately known) as they discover new things about themselves and each other. Best friends become lovers, but can lovers still remain best friends? Any and everything happens to these two, and it’s one, big mash up of emotion. If you are a fan of Tethered by LD Davis, then you will surely become one of Chasing/Catching Day. Definitely click-worthy, so definitely click it up!

Oh, boy! There is so much romantic saga goodness going on in the CHASING DAY series. Turner presents a love between two people that will reaffirm your belief in love that's meant to be. Daylen and Chase's story begins when they are young. Chase defends Day against bullying which sparks a friendship that slowly grows and then burns into a relationship that eventually defines them both. The relationship between Chase and Day is emotionally scalding to them both. This is a coming of age and maturity story so angst abounds, but it's believable angst. Turner provides obstacles, frustrations, and mistakes that makes their story engrossing.

As their relationship develops we find that Chase's family dynamic is far from the perfect image that others see. Chase has his own hell to survive while trying to live up to what other people expect from him. Day steps up and provides just as much comfort and protection for Chase as he does for her against the pettiness and meanness of some of their classmates. The biggest difference between them, is that Day is aware of what her real feelings for Chase are early on. I wanted to give Chase a little shake to wake him up so that he could see what is right in front of him; but his obtuseness is believable from a very young man. Both Chase and Day make regrettable choices that end up being life changing mistakes. However, Day makes a choice that is selfish, is one of my deal breaker actions, and skirts the line of unforgivable. Especially when her decision isn't justifiable. However, somehow Turner still made me want a happily ever after for them. How Turner was able to make me still want forgiveness for Daylen I am still not sure, but I did.

If you are looking for a full circle romance then the CHASING DAY series is an all around winner. This one is not just for fans of New Adult romances! This is a wonderful and emotionally engaging story of hard fought for love that never completely fades. Turner shows that there can be happiness found through acceptance, forgiveness, and faith that someone can love you with all of your perceived and real imperfections. I'm adding this to my favorite reads list and I am positive that I will be revisiting this story again!

I have read most of this authors books and I read this one on Kindle Unlimited.

This is Daylen and Chase's story. I found this story to be an emotional roller coaster of a ride and totally heartbreaking. Both Daylen and Chase made mistakes in the relationship and they missed opportunities to grasp at their happiness because they allowed life to get in the way. However, I thought that some of the choices that Chase made where typical male mistakes but his were crueller because he made them with the one person he knew that that would hurt Daylen to the max!! I found that hard going.

The story has a happy ending but I found the story to so gruelling that I did not walk away with the usual high that I would normally get from reading a story by this author. The story is well written and will absolutely draw you in their world. Worth the read.

The following is a summary and review of The Chasing Day series by Twyla Turner.

Summary:

In the first book Chasing Day  we're introduced to Chase McCoy, a young boy from a troubled home who forges a bond with Day; the shy, cello playing girl next door. But when their friendship evolves into romance, things get complicated. In the concluding book, Catching Day youth begets adulthood as their friendship continues on a rockier path. Mistakes are made, feelings are hurt, and precious time is lost to the pitfalls of distance and prideful posturing.

Review:

Book one of this series was an enjoyable read. I could see the growth in Turner's writing from her debut work in the Struck series. For that I was relieved, because although I own her scarred series, I have been hesitant to delve into her books again. With that stated, the second book in this series proved to be less impressive. One of the strengths in Chasing Day was Turner's building of the heroine and heroes relationship from friends to lovers. The pacing was steady, allowing us to get to know these characters, their inner workings, flaws and attributes, and how those things shape the bond between them. Where things started to take a turn was toward the end, when it seemed Turner hit some kind of wall and decided to rush the major conflict that caused a separation between the two lovers. Instead of taking her time to explore it in a thoughtful way, it's presented in a whirlwind of a chapter, that leads into the second and concluding book in the series.  To me this set the tone of the finale, and did so in a fractured way.

Where we should see growth between two characters coming into their adulthood, and learning from their mistakes - instead we see immaturity and actions that make little to no sense. An example of this can be found in Chase's actions once he gets his life back on track. He makes a decision that is completely out of the realm of reality. Given his experiences and what we know about him up until this point, his actions make minus zero sense. Toward the end of the first book, the same can be said for Day. Completely illogical decisions that do no mesh with the characters we've come to know. I know this is fiction, but even fantasy must stay true, not only to the characters as the author presents them, but to the basic tenets of logic. Without it, you're just writing nonsense. Another weak point that can be found throughout the series (but most egregiously in the concluding book, Catching Day) is Day's incessant stuttering.

Since the author does not describe her as having a speech impediment, this only proved to make Day come off as extremely immature. In the second book she is supposed to be in her twenties to late thirties and she's still stuttering like a fool in simple conversations. Makes no sense and comes off as completely silly. I find this to be a common thread in what I've read of Twyla Turner's works: adult women with low self-esteem who are completely lacking maturity and self-awareness. This is why, the first book is stronger than the second. The young love angle was written better and seems to be the more comfortable place for Turner to write in. When the characters became adults things fell apart, because the foundation of their adult selves was never written strongly to begin with. Even in times of strife there should have been some tangible growth between these two. Instead, Turner relied on worn out tropes to create melodramatic conflict that didn't add substance to the story she seemed to be building from the beginning.

Last, the intimate scenes weren't as plentiful and outrageous as in the Struck series (thank the universe!). There were some eye-rolling moments, but overall Turner got the temperature close to right. I especially loved the Cello love scene. Interesting enough, it did not take place between the two main characters. Good writing, all the same.

Still, based on the first book, the series had potential, and would have been far stronger if these issues, and some technical faux pas were tweaked.

Technically speaking:

The book was readable and well-written to a point. But the tells of lacking a professional copy and substantive edit were apparent in this series. There were plentiful typos, and one maddening issue of Turner's use of repetitive phrases throughout the book - particularly when describing Day's physical attributes. Turner repeatedly mentioned Day's "chocolate brown eyes", "creamy, butterscotch thighs," and "rosy cheeks." She also kept reminding us how chubby the character was. At one point, I thought, Okay, okay, I get it, damn! Can we move on now? How many times do we need to be reminded what she looks like? We know. It's like a hammer to the head, and that don't feel good. Still, these are forgivable book sins.

Final Words

I could write more and get very nit-picky, but I think I've given you enough to consider whether you want to take a chance on this series or not. Overall, I enjoyed it and I will continue to drop in to see where Twyla goes with her future works. In this genre, it's usually the characters that make or break the story for me. For the most part, these were solid, though I give the edge to Chase. Even when he made illogical choices his character remained consistent, and he was someone I really wanted to win! I've already stated the drawbacks to the series, and unfortunately, one of the main ones is the heroine, Day. She leaves the story uneven in many ways, but it has enough legs to keep you moving steadily to the end without wanting to throw your Kindle at the wall. My final verdict...

My rating for Catching Day - An okay, but not as good as the first time 3.9

My rating for the Chasing Day series - A young love grows up 4.0

Chasing Day is about two children who have bonded over life circumstances. Chase is a 10 year old boy who rescues this chubby 9 year old Daylen from bullies who pick on her because she is overweight. Their opening story was so sweet that it gave me a toothache and made me think back to my first crush. I smiled and giggled like a besotted school girl when I read how their relationship formed. Chase realized from a young age that outside appearances may not necessarily match the inside and vice versa and he realized that Daylen was a girl worth keeping as a friend. Chase and his mom were abused by his father and during one of these incidents he hides at a tree house that connects their homes and when Daylen comforts him with her presence and willingness to be there for him, it solidifies their relationship for life. They grow up and Chase is always protecting Daylen from the bullies while she is his rock in times of trouble. During their teenage years Chase finally felt what Day felt from the get go was that he was in love with his best friend. There are trials and tribulations and my heart hurt with the heartache that these two put each other through, but that is something that I love. That I can feel their passion, their ache, their love, their eternal bond. Chase has been an butt and through his own actions he lost the most important person in his life, he let her walk out of the door. *shaking my head* mmm, mmm, mmm. :(

Catching Day is a continuation of the Catching Day series and it picks up right where Chasing Day left off. Best friends separated, hurt by other and going on about their respective lives, apart. I didn't like it, but I was still engrossed, wondering how can these two possibly make it back to one another after everything that has happened, and still rooting for them as a couple. There are some characters where you wished they would just break up because you're sick of them? This couple was NOT it. I loved Day and Chase and their eternal confounded love. My eyes watered throughout this book either in happiness or being hurt. This is a series that is definitely worth the read if you love emotional upheaval and star crossed lovers.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This has to be hands down the best series that Twyla has put out yet. What makes this so great is the time span and how she includes things that most of us 80-90's babies can say "yup I remember that". The chemistry that is between the two characters is so real, not reaching for instalove like some books do. I felt the emotions as they were going through them and it tugged at my heart strings a few times. This series shows just how much she has grown as a writer. Loved Chasing Day!!

I wanted to rate this 4 stars because of the redundancy in describing the Hero's green fleck eyes and the Heroine's plump rosy cheeks. I was like if she states this one more time, I'm going to scream. The 4 rating went out the window when this story brought tears to my eyes, good tears. This a very good book, I felt like I was a part of Chase and Daylen lives. What a great book to start the New Year!

I always go into the novels with this trope with some trepidation. If you are going to follow a couple from childhood to adulthood, the author has to make a decision how to allow the relationship to progress. Too often the story mires itself in unnecessary drama with so many angsty, hair wrenching twists, and make-ups and break-ups that I end up being terminally exasperated by the couple and the author for creating tortuous blocks that often times do nothing but drag out the story for no good reason.

But every once in awhile I come across one where the progression works. For the most part this book is in the latter category. Sure Day and Chase have their ups and downs and make ups and break-ups but what I liked about it is that the author allowed their bedrock of a friendship to stay intact and that to me felt like a great grounding force in the relationship moreso than all the romantic plot blocks.

I do think the first book was much stronger in character, story and tone. It also ended on a nice spot. Yeah I hate cliffhanger stories that have to finish out in another or three volumes because frankly it feels like a cash grab and multi volume stories should be just that -- multi volume stories. But at least author broke the story in a natural spot.

The second volume only worked because it finally allowed the story to end on an HEA. I liked the idea of Chase and Day of moving on with other people (temporarily) but I wish the storytelling was sophisticated and nuanced enough not to resort to vilifying the the other partners. It happens a lot in romance and I always wonder why. We want the hero and heroine together so a temporary love interest who isn't an outright asshole isn't going to be a threat, especially not if you've created and strong, root worthy couple, which I think the author did here. And in the case of Chase and Day I think in the span of a 30 year story it would have been nice for both of them to have at least one other positive relationship outside of each other, especially if an important part of the story is to break them up and move them out of each other's orbit for awhile.

I also said "of course" at the because, of course.

But this was quick and I did like the two main characters quite a bit. A lot of chemistry and two characters it was easy to stay invested in.

Once again Twyla has created some literary magic! I am a softy for childhood romance so when Chase McCoy and Daylen Daniels meet in elamentary school after a bullying incident; and Day being immediately attracted to him, I was all in. Chase the popular football star, Daylen the shy cello player became best best best friend and nothing could break their bond; well so they thought. Take an amazing journey with Chase and Day, experience all the emotions that come along with this friendship and fine out if their bond can stand all the curve balls that LIFE throws at them.

I read with vigor, curious to find out what was going to happen next with the main characters, Chase McCoy and Daylen Daniels. The story takes place over a 30 year period as the readers watch the best friends, who meet on the school bus when they are in the fifth and fourth grades respectively. That’s where Chase learns a valuable lesson that “external beauty didn’t always match what was on the inside.” The story is captivating as the two young people who are total opposites bond for a lifetime of love, heart aches, triumphs and downfalls, finally to find their happily ever afters.
Twyla has once again written characters that make the readers fall in love with them. I was taken in by the story and refused to relinquish it until I had milked every drop. I felt like I knew Chase and Day personally and wanted nothing more than to see them beat the odds. Who knew the story of a football jock and a band geek could garner such emotions? A myriad of emotions coursed through my veins as I read about these two wonderfully flawed people. I was angry at the mean girls, I laughed at the class clown, I cried during the heartbreaks and smiled wide during the triumphs. The story ended just as it should have, but not before taking my feelings on a roller coaster ride.

Now let’s get down to brass tax. This is an erotic romance series and there were several steamy scenes to warm your, well you know what it warms… The author shows us a caring and loving scene where Chase and Day lose their virginity to each other. It was done in a very tasteful manner and I was amazed at how attentive Chase was instinctively, especially for a teenage boy full of hormones. I must admit I was not enthused when the main characters were with other people. That had nothing to do with the writing; it was the romantic in me who was rooting for the BFFs to get back together. I loved how Day transpired from a shy, timid girl into a confident, sexual woman. I also like the fact that Chase did not enjoy sex with the so called “Pretty Girl” who was frigid and unresponsive, the total opposite of Day. I understand they had to experience someone other than each other to know what they lost, but I don’t have to like it.

If you are in the market for a great love story with life lessons and some hot sex mixed in, please do yourself a favor and pick up the “Chasing Day” Series by Twyla Turner set for release on November 20, 2015!

APB Perspective Review:

I simply love this series !

When you read this book you get a complete tale from the day they me to their HEA and you don't feel cheated but you will miss the Daylen and Chase. The story begins when they first meet in elementary school and they bond on the first day because Chase saves Day from bulling, but if you think this a story about Chase saving Day you're wrong because Day saves Chase just as much, and when I say save I mean on a emotional level.
I watched this couple become best friends, first loves , first heartbreaks , and lifetime partners . This is one of those books that you read on the weekend so you will not be disturbed , because when you start this book you wil not want to put it down.

I received this as a ARC for my honest review. Daylen Daniels and Chase McCoy started off as childhood friends, who shred each others secrets, hopes and dreams. Chase is the captain of the football team and Day is shy who hides behind her weight and her cello. As they grow up they become attracted to each other . This is about to damaged souls that found each other at a young age became friends, and became the person that each needed to understand their true selves.

They experience heartache and separations as they each pursue their goals and dreams. There are parts in the book that I had be screaming in frustration at the dumb things they did to each other in their relationship. Day I felt was insecure with her body image and had self-esteem issues due to the fact her father was not in her life. Chase was the product of a abusive father and a submissive mother. Throw in other people who did not want Chase and Day to be together during High School and later on in life made this a very good book. I read it in one day. I could not put it down and was mad when work kept getting in the way. I don't want to give away any spoilers to those who have not read the book. Trust me you will not be disappointed. I would highly recommend this book another fantastic job by Twyla Turner.

I know these are 2 separate books, however I am going to review them as 1 since I read them as 1 complete novel instead of 2 parts of a whole. I give the series a well-deserved 5 stars. I loved that we got to experience Chase and Daylen from young children to adults. I don’t know about other people but as long as it doesn’t exist just to fill pages, I love getting a solid background on the characters. In this series, many decisions were made because of past hurts and experiences. That bit of background made it made it a lot easier to understand why and how decisions were made. The characters were realistic and so were the situations they found themselves in.
I experienced ALL of the emotions you can think of while reading these books, happiness, sadness, anger, grief, confusion, you name it, I felt it at some point. There aren’t many books that can make me feel so much but this one did in a major way. This book left me with a smile on my face and I promise that you’ll love it. Pick up your own copy when it releases on November 20, 2015.

I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review. Holy bananas Batman!!! This book had me all in my feelings and totally made me miss my usual meal prep Sunday, but damn was it worth it. I laughed, cried, screamed and talked to the characters. Twyla has done it to me once again, I was totally invested in Chase and Day from the beginning. I can relate to the whole best friends turning to lovers and I know the feelings but this book right here had me feeling and thinking all kinds of things. Loved that this story spanned years we see them grow up we felt all of their pain, their joy their happiness, love. Half way through I was ready to choke Twlya she had me on an emotional roller coaster and I wanted to be done with her but damn she brought me right back to needing to know what was going to happen. I hardly ever revisit a book but oh man this book has me in my feelings and I'm in love with Chase and Day. So I will be going back.

A example of 5 ***** not being enough.... I must first say I never thought in a million years that I would come across a story that would not only rival Tethered, but surpass it in my ratings even if by a hair.
Chase and Day, Day and Chase.... Perfect yet imperfect....we are taken on their journey from elementary school and embryonic love to adult lessons and love in perpetuity.... They are best friends who are each others security and uncertainty. The author, and very well I must say, allows us a 30 year view of their relationship. The good, the bad and the Drew, the Rhys, the no name body filler and the Whitney... I loved this tale of their friendship, chronicle of their growth and maturity and lastly the triumph of their eternal love and finally HEA....I loved Twylas' scarred series and I have become an even bigger fan of her work because of Chase and Day...I strongly recommend you take the journey you will definitely not be disappointed... Marvelous work Ms. Turner!!

What can I say about this story but it was fantastic. This author here is one to watch. The emotions and realistic issues that these two faced spanned from their adolescence to adulthood. There was some moments where I wanted to whup their asses for the childish behavior that these two exhibited, but they had to in order for the story to work. People I truly hated Whitney and Rhys with Chance father pulling up the rear. The topic of addiction and how it was written is exactly how someone with an addictive personality will act. So glad in the end they found their way back. If you love someone set them free and if you belong with each other you will find your way back to them. Brava Ms. Twyla take a bow.

PAUSE, FREEZE, STOP!!.... Before you take the time to read this review you should know that I really like this author so I might be a little bias... great now that that is out of the way.

I loved it! I really did... I felt connected with the characters, it was really easy to do... I loved how it also went back and then present.... I am sure I am not the only one that was like WTF or OH NO during certain parts of this book because I promise I really thought this was not going to go the way that I had it played out in my head. So much happened and so much time passed.

BUT... what is meant to be shall be....

So I recommend this book to anyone needing some drama, some heartbreak, mixed with a lot of love and growth with a wonderful ending.

Signing off... What is meant to be will be!

Achingly beautiful

It's a love story that stood the test of time....from prepubescent period..to awkward teenager years..then early adulthood...tumultuous twenties...very demanding careers,heartbreak,betrayals,mourning...alcoholism...and marriage to different people...all this tribulations and trials did nothing to stem the deep true love that Chase and Day had for one another..they endured heartache and heartbreak only to find their way back to each other making their love stronger and hotter...it's a very good novel...kinda reminds me of Tether..one of my favorite love stories about enduring love.
