Gold Medal Readers' Favorite Dystopian Fiction Reviewed By Anne Boling "It is difficult to believe that The City Center is Simone Pond's first novel for she writes like a seasoned author. The City Center reminds me of Donor 23, The Hunger Games, Logan's Run and Brave New World, which are all dystopian tales. The characters are well developed. Morray was so well developed that he gave me the creeps just reading about his despicable crimes."

THE CITY CENTER I liked this book more then I thought I would. This book is dystopian survival at its best. If you like the Cybermen from Doctor Who, you will like this book. It's well written and full of non-stop adventure. My only qualm is that sometimes the characters don't have realistic reactions to what happens (ex. how quickly Joseph forgoes reason in pursuit of Ava). O haven't read the rest of the series yet, but this book is a good stand alone novel and leaves no cliff-hanger.
THE NEW AGENDA A very different perspective. We continue Ava's journey as she explores Morray's uploaded memories in the hopes of finding where he's hiding. The New Agenda delves into Morray's past to see what motivates him. For a while, Morray is even a likable character. The book was very well written and kept me reading, wanting to find out what happens. This book, unlike the first, ends on a cliff hanger. We learn more about Morray's past, but Ava's story doesn't actually progress further. I do wish there had been more progression but I'm hopeful her story will continue in book three.
THE MAINFRAME The story continues with the peaceful life of the Strader family. I found it disapointing that in book three Ava had been transformed into someone striving for change to someone who had lost sight of what she was fighting for. She's gotten so caught up in looking for Morray that she neglects her husband and daughter. Her daughter, Grace, on the other hand behaves in a totally teen fahion, rebelling against her mother and truly despising her. The dad's reaction was a little on the hard-to-believe side though, when he really didn't make a stand for anything. As Grace enjoys her newfound freedom at the Academy, Morray resurfaces and makes his strike. I found this book to be better then book 2, but it still felt lacking in the story development. The book technically ends with a cliff-hanger but a little weak. That said, I will definitely be reading on to book four to see where the Strader family saga takes us. Overall, the author has written a good story that is fun and enjoyable to read.
THE TORRENT The Torrent continues the fight between the Strader family and Morray. With Ava stuck within the time frame and Grace on the run, shutting down Morray and Dickson is proving to be difficult. Grace makes some unfortunate decisions that set current government leaders on a path to terminate her to fulfill their agendas. As they fight against the clock, every side experiences loss. This is a good finale to the New Agenda series. There are definitely lots of twists. It's not the best series I've ever read, but it's fun.
I got the series. Interesting books. The storyline was good, easy to understand the tech parts. Sad in places, exciting in others. The story did not get mired down in useless drivel like some other books I have read.
I really enjoyed this series, and have reviewed them all separately on their own pages, but for fans of teen future dystopia tales, this is a must read.
