Greta has her man, but paradise isn’t all she hoped for. His frat brothers aren’t exactly welcoming her with open arms. Everyone still thinks she killed Amber. Especially the police. But her lips have been sealed by Blake’s kisses. She adores spending all her time with him. She adores having such an amazing man to call her own. But her once-wild stallion is having a much harder time adjusting to life as a couple. He balks every time they’re seen in public together, and can’t resist the lure of wicked temptresses like Jessica James. If Greta wants to keep him, she’ll have to find a way to fit in with his crowd. Luckily, Blake has plenty to teach her about being popular. His lessons are vile, hateful things that make her stomach turn. But she’s willing to do anything to have the life she wants—even if it means teaching Blake a lesson or two of her own. He’ll learn. Eventually.
When she’s not hanging out with her ginger husband and two stinky basset hounds, Livia Harper writes modern thrillers and mysteries in the vein of Megan Abbott’s Dare Me or Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl. Slain is her debut novel. Sign up for updates and free goodies at www.LiviaHarper.com.
Rating and review coming soon. (After I devour the third installment.)
So I finished this yesterday and must say it kept me on my toes! Installment two in the Greta series.
I did not like this book quite as much as Boyfriend Glasses. That does not mean it wasn't good. But Boyfriend Glasses..well..it is just in a league of its own.
The thing that bothered me about Party Dress was there was so so SO..much sex. OK..It maybe important for the plot. I get it. And there is nothing wrong with sex in books but..Party Dress had so much of it. Pages and pages full. And that brings up another issue.
It was all about sex between Greta and Blake. Now, I do not know about you but for me, I really do not care to know so much about their sex lives. I mean..let's be honest here. Blake and Greta. Greta and Blake. These two people are two of the most Batshit crazy, totally nasty characters in literary history. (I mean that as a compliment to the writer.) But these two should not be having sex with ANYONE , let alone each other.
No. Greta and Blake need to stop having so much sex and start thinking about other things..like what awful people they are.
And really instead of having sex, they should be having orange Jumpsuits as they (hopefully) live out their remaining years in prison. It really would be best. These two people should NOT be mixing with others.
So in all seriousness, turning away from the sex lives of two deranged Cray Cray people, the book is a fun one and I am loving this series. There is only one to go. Let us hope the ending is a good one!
Twisted, dark and you find yourself thinking 'How in the hell does she come up with stuff'?!! I'm starting to think Livia Harper's husband sleeps with one eye open at night! Some people have compared it to Gone Girl and I can see that, but she raises the bar with Greta. Greta is the main character throughout the story and she will truly stop at nothing to get what she wants! I'm not going to spoil the plot....pick up the book, download it, do whatever you need to do and read this series!! Livia Harper you are one hell of a writer with a serious twisted mind and hell I would love to read more from you!!
It's been a long time since I read Boyfriend Glasses by Livia Harper and I almost forgot what kind of adventure she sent me on when sending me it then. Coming back from my hiatus, I decided it was finally time to hurl myself back into the mind of Greta and I was not disappointed.
Continuing where Boyfriend Glasses leaves off, Greta and Blake are happily in love. Well, okay, maybe it's one-sided. It's been so long that I almost forgot how twisted both Greta and Blake are, but I did not receive a subtle reminder I felt was necessary to remind me. No, I was thrown into the deep of their twisted minds.
While this contains a more graphic sexual nature, it complimented their psychotic minds.
Ms. Harper does something a bit different with this book, showing the reader... (click logo for full review)
Livia Harper just stole my heart. This series is everything I love about psychological thrillers. It doesn't let go, no mercy and really a good read. Twisted and dark...brilliant!
#1: Boyfriend Glasses
The first time Greta saw Blake, she knew he was the one. Knew it like fire knows tinder. She hadn't thought she'd be at a frat party her first week in college, but her roommate, Amber, convinced her to go. Greta couldn't believe how easy it was to get in. But she was pretty now, and everything was different. No one knew anything about her ugly duckling past or all the darkness before. It was a whole new world, a brand new start. Then she saw Blake and knew he was her destiny. But Blake saw Amber first. And he got...confused. Blake was her soul mate. She could tell. She knew all about soul mates. Too bad about her last one...
Greta Bell is a very complex character. She wants to be loved, she wants what everyone wants and right now she wants Blake Abbott... She doesn't take no for an answer. Be careful, don't cross her...revenge is like an aphrodisiac to her.
#2: Party Dress
Greta feels like a princess. All the dark stuff that happened a few weeks ago is buried. She has only eyes for her new prince and when the darkness surface again, she and Blake have to work together to bury that darkness forever. But something is not right. She knows Blake loves her, he tells her so. But what he says and what he does, is two different things.
3#: Diamond Ring
This one is the darkest in the Greta Bell Series. From the first page, it's all down hill. Everything happens so fast. Blake proposed, she finally gets to meet her future in-laws but whatever started out like the perfect fairy tale, escalates in a bad bad way. She is confused. Everywhere she turns, she takes the gloom and the murk with her. She realises there's only one thing to do...whatever the consequences.
This is a brilliant series and I would read more of Livia Harper's work in the future. What a ride. What a read... Book hangover for sure!
Novel: Greta Bell Series, #1: Boyfriend Glasses, #2: Party Dress & 3#: Diamond Ring Author: Livia Harper Genre: Psychological Thriller / Young Adult Review Rating: 5 Stars Cover: 7/10 Characters, interaction, and plot layout: 5/5 Do I recommend this: Absolutely! Would I buy this book for myself or a friend: Yes!
Greta Bell has ended up being one of the most psychotic characters I've ever laid eyes on. I constantly kept trying to figure out what she was going to do next. I would like to say I felt sorry for Blake at time, but in all honesty, that would fly out the door when I remembered what he did. I just get he's getting his dues at this point at the hands of one of the most diabolical women to enter his life. I know there is a third book, but I have to take a break from Greta for a bit to let my brain heal.
I literally couldn't put this book down. Each page keeps you wanting to know what's going to happen next or what's Greta going to do next. Looking forward to more books by this author.
Ha ha she's so perfectly nuts just when I think she's let it all go she springs back and claims what's hers I thoroughly enjoy reading the way she thinks I can't wait to read the next one
These two sociopaths are the worst, but so hilarious at times. Its so much stuff they get into together and I loved it. Kept me engaged the whole way through.
Oh my gosh I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of Greta she is well and truly messed up but them again so is Blake. Had me hooked read in a day, flows well, easy read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The story of the complete madwoman Greta Bell continues in this sequel with the same insane style that we got used to in the first novel of the series, but everything escalates to a whole new level. Perhaps some readers might find this progress as a good thing, but unfortunately, I couldn’t stop thinking that it’s such a disappointment… Yes, the whole story grows from crazy to demented, to unbelievable. But that’s exactly the problem: that with every new, mad turn, the storyline loses its realism. The first novel of the series, Boyfriend Glasses instantly caught my interest mostly because of its strong grip in reality. Yes, it was very far from normal, yes, the protagonist was totally insane. But even so, her story looked like something that might happen in real life, something that you might read in the newspapers, something that might be the headline of the news that you’re watching on TV. There are sick, undiagnosed people that are walking freely, unsupervised between us, that are not treating their mental issues, that are pretending to be normal and it takes a while until everyone around them realizes that something is a bit off. So Boyfriend Glasses was exactly the story about someone like that. Shocking, but still so, so realistic and so, very gripping because of that. Now, Party Dress, keeps up or actually increases the adrenaline of Greta’s story. Every new chapter is truly unexpected and mind blowing. But by doing so, you get more and more often the feeling that you are reading an invented scenario. You no longer think “Ohmygod, this could happen to anyone, people like this might live all around us!”. On the contrary, so many times I found everything exaggerated and just rolled my eyes on the improbability of all the events. Depending on your preferences, you might enjoy this book more or less than the first one. It is a good story, it has every needed element to make you addicted, it leaves you breathless over and over again. But your own taste will actually be the one to determine how you will feel about it in comparison to Boyfriend Glasses. For me, the first novel was undoubtedly better. But for you, it might be the opposite. There’s just one more book left in the series and still, despite my current disappointment, I’m dying of curiosity to see how the story will evolve.
Greta finally has what she wanted, but things aren't perfect. Yet.
With everyone still having doubts about what happened to Amber no one is willing to accept their relationship. But Greta is willing to do whatever Blake wants her to do to fit in with his crowd. And soon enough Blake will learn that he's not the only one with a few tricks up their sleeve.
The second in the series doesn't disappoint. It's a page-turner!
Ever since I read Boyfriend Glasses 2 weeks ago, I knew I would enjoy Party Dress. Once again, I was gripped by the story and couldn’t leave the book down one single second. The two characters are just so fucking insane and twisted and mad. I went through anger, fear and laughter as the unexpected events unfolded in front of my eyes. Loved it, again. Can’t wait to read Diamond Ring.
Excellent second parter to the Greta saga, poor girl....no wait not poor girl she's a loon! Yet again excellently written where you flit between sad for her to hang on she's totally nuts! Just bought book three, I have to see where this goes......
Once again I am a satisfied customer!!! This story gets better and better! One moment I think Blake is about to be free of Greta and the store takes a hard left. It proves exactly what I thought, they are a match made in crazy heaven. Love this story. Now on to book 3!
