*Edit: just read through this book a third time and I still love it just as much! So many helpful takeaways for wives in ministry!

Loved this book just as much the second time around! Mrs. Chappell has such helpful and practical wisdom for wives and those in the ministry (of any kind but especially pastor wives). This book was a help and encouragement to me and I know I will read it again in the years to come! I especially enjoyed the chapter on hospitality and opening your home to those in your church family.... But it was ALL very good. Highly recommend!

Whether you are in the ministry or not, this a great book to read. Chapters include: lifting up your husband in prayer, hospitality, trials, serving the Lord, etc. It was a convicting read and I will definitely be reading it again in the future.

I enjoyed this book more than I expected. This would be a good read for all women-not just those in ministry. My favorite parts were about praying for your husband in specific ways (over 40 were listed) and dealing with the trials of trials of life. Also to make the most of serving others regardless of your circumstances and resources.

This was a re-read, but such a needed one! I received this book as a gift from a dear lady, who is the wife of my school principal growing up. She gave the devotion at my bridal shower, as I was about to marry a man in ministry. She gave me this book as well as a pitcher, to place in my house to remind me to be poured out for the Lord.
I have approached big steps in ministry with fear, thinking I am not cut out for it, or not the right one, but this book was absolutely perfect...calming my fears and relating to exactly how I felt. It reminded me that God uses those who are weak, because it’s then that we see His strength. I enjoyed all the stories she told as well. Some made me laugh, but they all had a point.
Some of my favorite quotes:
“The Lord has more need of our weakness than of our strength. Our strength is often His rival; our weakness is His servant, drawing on His resources, and showing forth His glory.”

platitudes. cliches. almost unbearable. one chapter had some really flawed logic and biblical misstatements, but other than that, pretty straightforward. recommended for pastors wives only from non independent baptist churches. nothing new. full of sound truths. independent baptist would be familiar with every sentence so that is why only non independent Baptists should read it.
