Behind the brightest smile, can lay the darkest truth . . .
KEETS:
I watched in horror the day the World Trade Centre collapsed, taking with it my fiancee and unborn child. As a firefighter on the scene, I blame myself for not rescuing them. Enlisting in the United States Army did nothing to dissuade my guilt, it only proved to me what I knew all along: The world is too cruel, too dark and twisted to live in any longer.
So I'm taking the easy way out. On the anniversary of 9/11, on my 40th birthday, I will return to Ground Zero, where I will finally be reunited with my loved ones. Forever.
I have just three weeks left to live.
NATALIE:
It would destroy my sister if she ever found out why I really came back home. She thinks I'm just here to help out with Saddles, but the truth is I have a secret, one that tears me apart and threatens to consume me. It was just one night. One stupid, messed-up, drunken night.
The consequences will live with me forever.
When these flawed hearts collide, will they heal one another . . . or burn together in a blaze of glory?
This is the second book of the Blaze of Glory Series. Unlike the first book, this is not a standalone. You should read book one Imperfect before reading Flawed. Also unlike book one this book ends with a cliffhanger. Flawed is the story of Keets, Stone’s and Shannon’s friend from Imperfect, and Natalie who is Shannon’s younger sister. They share a very physical relationship from the time that they met. Both of these characters are Flawed. Natalie who has never felt that she was good enough, always in her sister’s shadow, always messing things up. She is at her lowest after her longtime boyfriend breaks up with her on their third anniversary being together. Her friend takes her out to get over her broken heart and Natalie has a drunken one night stand with a good looking stranger.
Keets has been broken since 9/11 when as a first responder, he had to watch the Twin Towers crash to a pile of rubble with his fiancee and unborn child. Nothing has appeased his guilt of not dying in the collapse with his family. Now as September 11 is approaching he has decided to join his family on the anniversary of their death. Especially now after having feelings for Natalie.
As I mentioned this book ends with a cliffhanger, and what a cliffhanger it is.
The plot of this story is very dark, and like the first book it is full of raw emotion. The chemistry between Natalie and Keets is conflicted, hot, and very intense. The pacing of this book was much better than the first book in my opinion. It had an easier flow. The ending is a cliffhanger and leaves us as frustrated as these two flawed individuals. We get to see these characters grow and make self discoveries that will leave you as emotionally drained as the characters. Can’t wait for the next book to come out.
