“Schorr has a true talent for creating characters that are charming, endearing, relatable, and let’s not forget, very funny…Novelista Girl checks off all the boxes for me of what I consider to be a great chick lit book: a strong and confident heroine, a sexy boyfriend you can crush on, supportive friends, and plenty of conflict leading to comical results, culminating in a very satisfying ending.” – Erin Brady, Bestselling Author of The Shopping Swap
Feisty New Yorker Kimberly Long runs the most popular chick lit book blog on the web, loves playing house with her sexy lawyer boyfriend, Nicholas, and is finally pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a published author. At first glance, her life is worthy of five pink champagne flutes. But is there more to the story than meets the eye? After hearing the phrase “chick lit is dead” more times than she’s read The Devil Wears Prada, Kim is driven to desperate measures, seeking advice from up-and-coming chick lit author, Hannah Marshak, her high school nemesis and resident “mean girl.”
As if Kim doesn’t have enough on her plate balancing her secretarial duties with her blog, Pastel is the New Black, shrugging off the growing pile of agent rejections, and keeping her best friend from turning green over Kim’s budding friendship with Hannah, Nicholas is so blinded by his career ambitions, he doesn’t see that their home sweet home could use more than a dash of sugar.
This is the year when all of Kim’s dreams—professional and romantic—are supposed to come true, but will her story have a happily ever after or will Kim end up unpublished and all alone?
Books in the Blogger Girl Series: BLOGGER GIRL (#1) NOVELISTA GIRL (#2)
Books by Meredith Schorr: JUST FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS A STATE OF JANE HOW DO YOU KNOW?
Part of the Henery Press Chick Lit Collection, if you like one, you'll probably like them all...
A born and bred New Yorker and lifelong daydreamer, Meredith Schorr fueled her passion for writing everything from restaurant reviews, original birthday cards, and even work-related emails into a career penning romantic comedies. When she’s not writing books filled with grand gestures and hard-earned happily-ever-afters or working as a trademark paralegal, she’s most often reading, running, or watching TV…for research, of course.
I love writing this series! These characters are so close to my heart at this point, they feel like family. I love them all so much and hope you will, too :)
Blogger Girl was one of my favorite books ever! When I reached the last page I was so sad. I wanted, no scratch that... I needed more of Kim, Nicholas, Rob, Hannah, Bridget, and yes even Daneen. When I learned there was a sequel in the works I was beyond excited - as was I to read an ARC of the book.
Novelista Girl is an amazing stand alone sequel to Blogger Girl. There was the perfect amount of back story. And what I felt was great about how both books are written was I feel you could read either one first.
I couldn't put the book down and read it in one sitting. Full of drama, twist, turns, laugh out loud moments, tears and love Novelista Girl is a book not to miss!
I think, I found myself in Kimberly Long's shoes! The way she thinks about her blog, the reviews she does for the authors, the cover reveals and blog tours, the way she feels guilty over 3-pink champagne flute reviews.. Gosh, Kim Long is basically.. ME. (except for Nicholas and being a novelista part.) After reading this book, I think, I can safely say, WE are kindred spirits.
This isn't my first Meredith Schorr book. A few months ago, I enjoyed her hearty "nearing milestone age" book, How Do You Know and I told myself I will read the next books that she's gonna write. And I'm so glad I had this opportunity with Novelista Girl. (Too bad, I wasn't able to read the first book Blogger Girl)
Kim is a blogger and a budding, promising writer, whose current main goal is to have her book published. She's sent her book to literary publishers for review and she's being rejected all the time. Her high school nemesis Hannah is back with a new bestseller book in tow and asks her to put a spotlight on her book in her blog, Pastel is the New Black. And then her co-worker Daneen bitches about her work as a blogger, legal secretary and a writer. And then there's her boyfriend lawyer hottie Nicholas, who seems to be taking her for granted lately ever since his father suggested he take up higher positions as a lawyer, like being a Director General or maybe a Senator for example.
Despite all the dilemma she's been having, her loyal friend Bridget is always there for her. Although, Kim thinks her friend also got some issues in the "should I get married or not" department.
Meredith scored another great hit from Kim Long. Novelista Girl is a delectable read, sassy, fun, sweet and hot - all rolled into one! Miss Schorr always keeps me interested with her characters. They were quite real and they remind me of some people I know. I couldn't help myself chuckling from time to time. Highly recommended to everyone who wants to have a good laugh and a good time. Looking forward to reading more of her books soon!
I couldn't be more excited about Novelista Girl if I tried! The only thing that makes me sad is that I finished it! I secretly hope that there is a 3rd book in the series in the works!
I have said it before and I will say it again - I see some little similarities between myself and Kim and who knows, maybe that's why I love it as much as I do! I am a paralegal in a law firm in the city by day and a chick lit book blogger by night! We are also similar in that I read and work on my blog during the day as well! Shhh don't tell my boss! LOL
I am so happy that Kim and Nick are still the same perfect couple that they always were, OK, maybe perfect is the wrong word to use. No one is perfect, but I love them just the same!
Their story take many crazy turns. One for the books is the arrogant Daneen, yes she's still in the picture! Will this woman ever enjoy her life and stop butting into Kim's and Nick's? Or will she go to her grave as a bitter, single lawyer who enjoys seeing the misery she can cause at every turn?
The fun doesn't stop there! Nickolas's father joins the fun crowd and makes his sun feel as if he will never amount to anything just because he didn't become a DOCTOR! I mean, I know that Lawyers are scraping to make a living and all (LOL) but I am sure he will manage!
Hannah Marshak returns for an encore and is just the same as she was in Blogger girl, only shall we say nicer? You will have to read it to believe it!
The story will have you rolling on the floor laughing, yelling at the characters when they do something stupid (which may be frequently!) and crying tears of sadness when you fear it may be coming to an end!
So take out your favorite girlie beverage and sit back and enjoy the ride! Meredith does NOT disappoint!
After Blogger Girl, I wanted to read the next one in the series and I'm glad that I did. I really love her style and it makes me remember why I love this genre so much. I'll definitely read the last one soon.
Did I enjoy this book: I LOVED this book. It was a fantastic sequel to Blogger Girl, which I also loved. (You can read my review of Blogger Girl here.) It was fun, exciting, emotional. I read it every free chance I had and would have finished it in a day if I could have.
Kimberly Long is still blogging at Pastel Is the New Black, and now she has finally finished her novel. All she needs to do is get it published. Easy, right? We get to experience her journey trying to secure a publisher (fingers crossed!) in Novelista Girl. She’s still with Nicholas, and their relationship has some ups and downs. There were times I wanted to tell Kim that she was being ridiculous. There were times I wanted to tell Nicholas that he need to be more present. But I loved them together. They work. You can’t help but smile at the two of them.
I want to say so much more about this FABULOUS read, but I’m not going to. It is just too good, and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. Let me just say that I laughed. I almost cried. I smiled. And I *SQUEEEEEE*d quite a few times. Just pick up a copy and read it. Trust me.
Would I recommend it: Absolutely!! And be sure to read Blogger Girl as well! However, you can read Novelista Girl as a standalone.
Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
AudioBook Review Stars: Overall 4 Narration 4 Story 4
Not having read the first in this series, I didn’t lack for information as Schorr provided the background I needed without overdoing it, and allowing me to jump in to the story mid-telling. Kim has finished her book and is now in the middle of hoping every day that the mailman will bring a letter that isn’t a rejection. Things are still good with her boyfriend Nick, well, mostly good, sorta, kind of. But, aside from hearing the phrase “chick lit is dead’ repeatedly, she’s discovered that an old school nemesis is a successful author, and is planning on picking her brain. Yay. More to look forward to.
The characters in this are so very palpable and real: no one totally awful or completely loveable, but a solid mix of people that Kim encounters, assuages and interacts with. Her approach and care for her blog and her responsibility to it, and her dreams for her book can resonate with many, and even in the not so wonderful moments there is a solidity and determination to Kim that keeps readers cheering her on. And, it doesn’t hurt that Nick, if not always present and accounted for, is wholly supportive and not willing to let Kim take her own successes for granted.
Narration is provided by Rachel Dulude, capturing the voice and sense of a 20 something in New York, and giving Kim a solid sense of being and presence: clear enunciation and emotionally available, with just enough distinction to present other characters clearly, without morphing into an entirely different feel. Easy to follow along, with sparky wit, clever dialogue and a moments that every listener can relate to: the story is a great listen that has me wanting to listen to the first in the series.
I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Tantor Audio for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
I did not read part one and I regretted it. Not that I could not follow what happened in this one, because the author gives you the right amount of information, but because I really liked part 2 and I now soooo want to know what went on before. It's a fluently written story, with funny bits in it. You felt for Kimmie because the emotions were so well described that it seems like you could feel them yourself. Needless to add that I enjoyed the book but I am saying it anyway. :)
Having read “Blogger Girl,” I was more than eager to read “Novelista Girl,” (click HERE to see my review of “Blogger Girl”)!
From the beginning, the first thing that drew me in was that I felt that I was back in Kim’s world, along with her supportive boss, awesome BFF, and of course, her sexy boyfriend, Nicholas, who always seems to have her back. One of best things about this book was that the characters seemed no different from the previous book, which was a major plus, making it easy to jump into.
It’s hard to say what I enjoyed most about it, because I loved it all, especially Kim’s determination to never give up on her dream of becoming an author. With all the twists and turns in this book, I never knew what was going to happen, especially when Kim started up a friendship with Hannah, (this made me really nervous for Kim). This made for great conflict, and I appreciated the direction the author went with these two. Also, I think it shows that one never knows where life can take you, no matter how many years later, or what happened in the past.
Meredith Schorr’s writing is impeccable, creative, and she has a true gift of writing books that readers fall in love with. “Novelista Girl” was a really quick, fun, and delightful read, and I was cheering for Kim, the entire time–whether it be book world or relationship related, (no, sorry, I won’t give any spoilers)! Will there be a third installment of Kim’s life, titled “Author, Baby”??? Maybe so, but I’m pretty sure that’s just me wishing and wanting more…
I recommend this book to anyone who loves and believes in the Chick Lit genre, and who might consider writing a book one day, and, while it’s not biographical, it “Novelista Girl” shows the work and effort it takes to be an author, and Meredith Shorr has certainly proven that.
I have to say that I love this book as much as Blogger Girl. It was an amazing book! I love when I get to visit my favorite characters again. It has everything that I adored in a GREAT book: laugh out loud moments, depth in story and characters, twists and turns, romance and fun. I wish I could hop inside the book and hang out. I just love that Schorr gets what the reader wants and delivers it to us in a flawless, beautiful way! Thanks so much Meredith I really appreciate it! Another 5 star hit!!!
Kim and Nicholas from BLOGGER GIRL are back! I loved every line of NOVELISTA GIRL, and Meredith Schorr delivers another captivating, addictive, hilarious read with the perfect mix of depth and humor. The writing is flawless and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Even if you haven't read BLOGGER GIRL, the characters jump off the page and I was so sad, yet so satisfied, when it ended. I highly recommend it as both a stand-alone and a sequel!
I adored Blogger Girl, so when I found out there was going to be a sequel I was thrilled. I couldn't wait to find out what Kim and the gang were up to. Novelista Girl far exceeded everything I expected it to be, and I absolutely loved it! From the first page to the last, I was hooked and didn't want it to end.. (Is it to soon to ask for a 3rd book??)
Meredith Schorr does it again! I loved "Blogger Girl" and didn't think it was possible that the author could top that book. I'm so glad Meredith proved me wrong. This book checks all the essential elements I want in a book: relatable characters, engaging plot, humor, and romance! Ms. Schorr ranks as one of my favorite authors. Well-done!
Novelista Girl by Meredith Schorr will keep you guessing until the very end--there are so many twists and turns along the way! As the follow-up book to Blogger Girl, it's fun to catch up with Kimmie Long and her “squad” once again. This is a very engaging chick-lit read. **5 champagne flutes**
Meredith Schorr's Novelista Girl is out! Although it can be read standalone, Novelista Girl is the follow up to Blogger Girl.
From the Book Summary: Kim runs the most popular chick lit book blog on the web, loves playing house with her sexy lawyer boyfriend, Nicholas, and is finally pursuing her life-long dream to become a published author. At first glance, her life is five-pink-champagne-flutes worthy.
But is there more to the story than meets the eye?
After hearing the phrase "chick lit is dead" more times than she's read Bridget Jones's Diary, Kim is driven to desperate measures, seeking advice from up-and-coming chick lit author, Hannah Marshak, her high school nemesis and resident "mean girl." As if Kim doesn't have enough on her plate balancing her secretarial duties with her blog Pastel is the New Black, shrugging off the growing pile of agent rejections, and keeping her best friend from turning green over Kim's budding friendship with Hannah, Nicholas is so blinded by his career ambitions, he doesn't see that their home sweet home could use more than a dash of sugar.
This is the year when all of Kim's dreams—professional and romantic—are supposed to come true, but will the story have a happily ever after or will Kim end up unpublished and all alone?
This is trademark Meredith Schorr. If you haven't read Blogger Girl, you'll find you like - and in the case of Hannah, love to not like so much-the characters. And much like in A State of Jane, there were the occasional moments where I found myself frustrated a bit with Kim. That's not a criticism- it's that frustration you sometimes get when you see a friend obsessing over something or overreacting to a situation and you have to let them sort it through themselves.
What I like most about Meredith's books is that her characters are relatable and the storylines are authentic. Our heroine is not over-the-top glamorous, she has insecurities, she makes mistakes. And even though she's landed the perfect guy, that doesn't mean that everything is smooth sailing. The storyline isn't contrived, or unrealistic. It's chick lit, yes, but it doesn't come across saccharine like some stories do, and that makes it fun and appealing to read.
If you like Chick Lit, you can't go wrong with reading Meredith Schorr, and if you haven't checked out her books yet, what are you waiting for?
I read an Advance copy of Novelista Girl, so I expect there might be minor changes from the version I read. And as always, I present an honest review.
I read and loved Blogger Girl when it came out. And I love it when authors write sequels to books that I love.
One of the main reasons I love this series, besides the fact that the books are about a blogger and I can relate to that so much, is the other fact that there were such great characters in Blogger Girl and now with Novelista Girl, I get to revisit them and catch up on their lives.
Kimberly's life is going pretty well. She is with the man of her dreams, her best friends have found the loves of their lives, and she has written a book that she is now trying to get published. What could go wrong? Let me tell you, there is plenty of drama in this book as one thing after another starts to go wrong for Kim.
I went on an emotional rollercoaster ride with Kimberly as she has boyfriend issues, best friend issues, issues with her high school nemesis, and as she experiences the ups and downs of her book publishing journey. I was ecstatic when she was on top of the world and was teary eyed and down when things were not so good. Meredith was able to make me feel all the feels.
Novelista Girl is another wonderful, genuine chick-lit story that drew me in and allowed me another fun escape to Kimberly's world. I really hope to get to go back there soon!
'If a dream came true and you had no one to share it with, was it really a dream come true?'
5 fabulous stars! Kimberly Long is such a strong, loveable character and I was excited to follow her journey beyond Blogger Girl. After reading Novelista Girl, I can also say that I would be happy to keep reading about Kim and her 'A-squad' for as many books as the author will write about her! I loved every minute of Novelista Girl. I felt both the anticipation and the pangs of anguish as Kim attempts to land an agent for her book, "A Blogger's Life." I felt the emotional highs and lows of her relationship with Nicholas and her friendship with Bridget. I rolled my eyes at Hannah's emails and I just wanted to punch Daneen in the face most of the time! I also loved the underlying message of finding balance in your life. To sum up, it is quite rare to find a chick lit book with characters quite as engaging as these! For a reader to feel that they are actually experiencing the character's life as they read the pages, is the sign of a very talented author in my opinion. I know that there are limited spots in the 'big' publishing world for this type of novel, but I believe Meredith Schorr is deserving of one of these spots!
What can I say about how awesome this book is? The further adventures of Kim Long are laugh-out-loud hilarious, her sexy boyfriend, Nicholas seems even hotter in this sequel, and I legit want to claw the eyes out of coworker/nemesis Daneen.
I love books that give me strong emotions and really make me feel for and root for the characters. Meredith Schorr does just that. She can write characters and situations that hook you in the heart and take you for a ride.
In the first book, Blogger Girl, just when you thought the nemesis was going to be high school queen Bee Hannah Marshak, we're introduced to the adult equivalent in Daneen, a lawyer with a severe personality disorder.
I seriously think I hated this antagonist more in the second go-round if that's possible. She was just so vicious, but in a way that only women can be. Ladies, be nice, mmmkay? Her plotting, her scheming, and her straight up holier-than-thou attitude against aspiring writers is just obnoxious. Isn't that what we want in an antagonist, though?
Despite Daneen, Kim's journey from blogger to novelist had so many ups and downs it made me wonder if her dreams would ever come true, both professionally and personally, and I enjoyed the roller coaster. This rollercoaster almost made me happy cry when I finished.
Such a great book and I highly recommend it! Please read it! So good!
Novelista Girl is a fun, witty sequel to Blogger Girl that brings Kim, Nicholas, and the gang back together in a delightful way. I loved seeing Kim’s growth and her journey toward her dreams, and her moments with Nicholas were sweet and charming.
That said, I found their conversations too focused on their physical relationship rather than their emotional connection, which left me wanting more depth in their romance.
Overall, it’s an engaging, lighthearted read with relatable characters and plenty of humor. A great pick for fans of fun, inspiring stories about love and following your dreams!
I've been waiting for the follow up to Meredith Schorr's Blogger Girl basically since the moment I finished the book. Needless to say, I was thrilled (THRILLED) when Meredith told me she was finally writing the sequel. Even though I love love love everything Meredith writes, there was still that niggling doubt in my mind...what if I don't like it as much as the first book about Kim? (And I'm sure she's worried about the same thing!) That feeling was completely unwarranted. I adored Novelista Girl. I read it last year (on vacation...best idea ever) so it's one of my favourites of 2015 even though it's just being published today. Congrats (and thank you) to Meredith for writing and publishing another of my favourite chick lit books!
Novelista Girl basically picks up right where Blogger Girl left off. Note: if you haven't read Blogger Girl yet, beware of teeny spoilers. And get your ass in gear and read it because it's one of my all time favourite books. That being said, you don't have to read Blogger Girl first...the new book stands on its own. I just think readers will have a better reading experience if they read both books.
In Novelista Girl, Nicholas and Kim have righted their relationship and, more importantly, Kim has finally decided to take the plunge and has submitted her novel to agents. Meredith does a really great job of balancing the romantic and career storylines in this novel. I love reading about love interests and swoony (and stressful) moments but the fact that Kim was also pursuing her dream of becoming a published author was SO important (and not just because the title of this book is Novelista Girl).
Kim continues to be a character that I want to be best friends with. She has her "what on earth is she thinking?" moments but, hey, we all have those moments. (We do. Do not try to deny it.) She's smart, passionate, driven, funny, and, most importantly to me, is a book person. :) I love books so much more when I want to be BFFs with the heroine and her group of friends. Can't I just hop into the book to hang with Kim, Bridget, and Caroline?
Blogger Girl focused more on, you guessed it, Kim's chick lit book blog. Part of why I loved the book so much is because it felt like it was a book about me. No one had ever written about my passion before so it was super cool. I think my main worry about going into Novelista Girl was that I might not identify as much with Kim because I'm not a blogger who wants to be an author (sometimes I think I'm an anomaly!). I shouldn't have been worried though because reading about Kim's publishing journey was equally interesting. I have many author friends and a lot of what they go through, Kim was going through too.
Novelista Girl is another winning novel from Meredith Schorr. Hanging out with Kim, reading as she went through the ups and downs of a twentysomething life, was just as amazing as when I read Blogger Girl. Kim's romantic, friend, hobby, and work relationships all come together in a well written and thoroughly enjoyable novel. You all know I love everything Meredith writes but, guys, her books about Kim are really that amazing. You'll love them as much as I do if you give them a chance. So what are you waiting for? Pink champagne flutes for everyone!
I am going to start this review with something very unusual…. I actually liked ‘Novelista Girl’ better than ‘Blogger Girl’! This is quite strange to prefer the sequel, but it was really very good. Meredith Schorr continues the story of bookblogger Kim, her relationship with Nicolas and how Kim is striving to become a chick lit Author. We share her ups and downs as she goes about trying to attain her dream of becoming a published Author. If you haven’t read ‘Blogger Girl’, you are easily caught up with the story, but not in a way that repeats itself for those that have read the previous book.
I was drawn to this series because of the main characters love for reading and bookblogging. In Novelista Girl, this continues and is taken a stage further as we hear more about Kim’s attempts at becoming published. I loved how we were lead through this process, and lived Kim’s highs and lows with her as she deals with agents and her old frenamie Hannah who is already a published Author! I enjoyed this part of the book so much, that I did consider how great it would be to write a book! (Although sadly, I don’t think I have the talent for that).
The characters in this book are brilliant. I love the relationship between Kim and her best friend Bridget. Always there for each other, always supporting each other. But realistic as they have a silly girlishness about them.
“Bridget covered her ears with her hands. “I don’t hear you. LALALALALA”.
I love how this book is so current. Kim has late night binges with Orange Is The New Black, and in true Chick Lit fashion, Kim compares herself to Carrie in Sex and the City…
“..it didn’t compare to the likes of Big or Petrovsky. Who was I kidding? My life would never resemble an episode of Sex and the City.”
As part of Kim’s attempts to become published, we hear a lot that ‘Chick Lit is dead’. It is so not dead, and this book is a prime example of how brilliant chick lit can be. I loved this book, I read it in a few days, every time I had a spare few minutes I was back with my nose in the book to see what happens next.
I am going to give Meredith Schorr a big compliment here. For those of you that follow ChocolatePages, you will know that Sophie Kinsella is my favourite Chick Lit Author. It was Sophie that inspired my love of adult reading. Meredith Schorr has now become my favourite Chick Lit Author on a par with Sophie Kinsella! I love Becky Brandon from Shopaholic, and I love Kim Long from Blogger / Novelista Girl!
In honour of Kim’s blog Pastel is the New Black, I am awarding ‘Novelista Girl’ 5 Pink Champagne Flutes.
(I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.)
Novelista Girl by Meredith Schorr is the sequel to Blogger Girl, which is actually one of the first books I ever reviewed on my blog. I enjoyed this book even more than the first, which is unusual for me, as sequels don't always live up to the original. Thankfully, I wasn't disappointed with Novelista Girl.
It picks up where Blogger Girl leaves off, and we find that Kim has finished her novel, and is querying publishers, hoping to find good news every time she checks her email. Her search for a publisher isn't going well, however, and she starts getting discouraged. To add insult to injury, her high-school nemesis, Hannah, is having great success as an author, and is about to release her second novel.
Kim is such a delightful character. She's far from perfect, but I couldn't help but root for her, and I hoped that everything would work out for her in the end. No spoilers, but I had a huge grin on my face as I read the last couple of pages.
This is chick-lit at its finest. A plucky heroine dealing with everyday drama - a full-time job, friend and frenemy issues, relationship problems - all while trying to get her novel published and maintaining a popular chick-lit blog. Novelista Girl is well-written, the character development is wonderful, and there are quite a few laugh-out-loud moments.
Smart and funny, Novelista Girl is not one to miss if you're a fan of chick-lit novels.
As a follow up to Blogger Girl or as a stand-a-lone this is the perfect chic-lit book. It is proof that chic-lit is not dead as Kim, the main character, had been told many times while trying to get representation for her book. While the book is about Kim and her many let downs in getting representation for me it was more about the relationship between Kim and Nicholas. I also enjoyed the relationships with Bridget and Jonathon.
I found myself remembering how quickly I devoured Blogger Girl (LOVED IT!) and how much I wanted to know more about the characters. In Novelista Girl I got that chance. I got to catch up with Kim and her friends, seeing what they were up to, how their respective jobs were progressing, and how their relationships were going. I was sad to see that Kim was struggling in many aspects but proud of how strong she stayed. Even when life was throwing *stuff* at her she managed to keep plowing through. She is allowed to be sad or feel anger at how others were treating her, yet she did not let that send her on a detour from her dream of publishing. Meredith Schorr definitely has written a strong and independent character.
I found myself laughing at their antics, smiling at the friendships, frowning when things did not go as I had hoped, and having tears when I feared that the characters were going to end up on the wrong path. This is a MUST READ to anyone who is looking for a fun, easy, relatable, chic-lit story.
Blogger Girl was the first book I read by Meredith Schorr and I have been hooked ever since. Imagine my delight when the sequel - Novelista Girl - came out!!! The wonderful thing is this novel may be read as a standalone, so you can jump right in to the intriguing life of Ms. Kimberly Long or you can enjoy it as part of the series. I highly recommend reading Blogger Girl first, so you can get in on all the good stuff. In Novelista Girl, we find Kimberly her usual smart and sassy self, working her day job at the law firm and blogging/writing during whatever spare time she can find. She's enjoying her burgeoning relationship with Nicholas, her amazing lawyer boyfriend, and navigating the waters of finding an agent to help her get her first novel published. Life is a huge adventure for Kimberly and she has plenty of both lovable and detestable characters along for the ride. As with any good adventure, there are plenty of twists and turns in the road, giving Ms. Long plenty of chances to discover just how much she can handle. Once again, I'm amazed by Ms. Schorr's ability to create such well-developed characters. (Seriously, you might just want to reach into the book and slap a couple of them.) And as always, her dialogue is engaging, her writing is fluid and she pulls emotions out of you that you weren't sure you wanted to share! Be prepared to laugh, cry and pump those fists! A great story awaits you.
Chick lit blogger, Kimberly Long, is back and sassier than ever! Picking up where she left off in the first book of the series, Blogger Girl. Having heard “chick lit is dead” one too many times, she’s out to prove the naysayers wrong. More determined than ever to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a published author, Kimberly searches for a publisher. However, she is finding the process a bit discouraging. And the fact that her nemesis, Hannah, is not only having great success as an author, but also in the process of releasing her second novel is a slap in the face. But Kimberly is not to be deterred.
Don’t for a moment think that this book is solely about Kim’s quest to be published. Her romance with hunky lawyer Nick, who we first met in Blogger Girl, is going strong. Nick adds a fun twist to Kim’s life; bringing his own bit of drama to the story.
What can I say about this book? It was impossible to put down, has the perfect blend of humor and is such an amazing sequel to Blogger Girl. What I love about Meredith’s writing is that you can relate to the characters, flaws and all, the story holds your attention, and there were several laugh out loud moments. No matter if you read this book as a stand-alone or a series, you will be in for a fun treat.
This is the follow up story to Blogger Girl and I thought it was just as enjoyable. I know that I like reading about another blogger (even if fictional) and what she goes through with her book blog. Of course in this book, she has her man and now her dreams of becoming a published author are more to the forefront of her life.
Of course not everything is rosy - her boyfriend is working more and more and she sees him less and less, plus of course the usual problems - Hannah, her high school nemesis, and Daneen, her work nemesis.
I don't remember all of Blogger Girl, but this book has some cursing and F bombs (BG may have, just don't remember!) but not so much that it detracts from the story line. I like the conflict between Kimberly and Nicholas and how that plays out for the reader. And even her conflict with Hannah has Kimberly growing up and being more of an adult.
