Nothing ruins a wedding like a deadly secret and a cold-blooded murder…
After her life falls apart following a disastrous incident, Sage moves in with her sister Primrose in the small coastal town of Rosecliff. Primrose, a perfect housewife and an avid gardener, has been hired to decorate the first wedding that the town has seen in three years.
While helping her sister set up for the wedding, Sage overhears a suspicious conversation. A sudden death that puts an end to the wedding ceremony before it has even begun suddenly doesn’t seem so natural. Sage, with the help of Primrose, starts to uncover a series of mysterious clues that seem to be leading straight to the culprit.
This is a novella-length humorous cozy mystery with romantic elements and the first book in the Primrose and Sage Cozy Mysteries series.
This is a short story but definitely worth reading! Sage is staying with her sister Prim and helping her out with her flower business! One of the daughters of the most prominent family in town is getting married and Prim wants everything to be perfect! The wedding day dawns and the last thing everyone expects is a murder! While everyone around them thinks it was a tragic accident Sage feels there is more to the story! With a great storyline and lots of drama and mystery this book will keep you turning the pages! I was giving this book for a fair and honest review! I highly recommend this book and I will be definitely reading more from Ana Noire!
I wanted to like this book, as the premise was interesting and I wanted to see how it played out. However, if you are going to use a speech-to-text tool to write and then skip the professional (or any) copy editing, your debut novel is not the one to use as a guinea pig. Applause "ceases," it does not "seize." A man of the cloth is a "Reverend," not a "Reverent" (which is an adjective, by the way). Another mistake of new writers is also rampant in this book, namely excessive descriptive phrases rather than actions to define characters and scenes.
That said, Prim and Sage were actually likeable, believable characters. I actually felt vested in their outcomes despite the meager amount of the book I was willing to finish. I'd be happy to see a revised and proofed version and be able to update this review. The author has talent and a creative mind; with more discipline and perhaps professional guidance, this could be a good book.
A short read that does not short change you in any way. Great characters blended into a smooth plot that is a pleasure to read. When a bridesmaid collapses and dies on the walk up the aisle, everyone is told it was a medical condition. Was it? Will our two sisters work out what actually happened? Well worth a read.
This was a really good read. A bit shorter than I normally like, but all the elements of a good story were there, and there were a few twists and turns that gave pause as you tried to figure out whodunit. The ending was a bit of a surprise, as the killer turned out to be someone I hadn't really considered. A great read, and one that has me hungering for more from this author!
I really enjoyed this book. It was full of surprises and yet Sage is the only one that sees a murder. She always seems to be in the wrong place at the right time. Sage is the key to finding the murderer and then she figures out who the bad guy is. You really have to read this. Sage is pretty awesome. I think you will enjoy this book as much as I did.
A lovely cozy mystery, great imagery, with wonderful characters. Primrose and Sage are a great team. Looking forward to their next adventure, and getting to know Dan more. Bravo on your first book Ana!!
Quick paced cozy set in the South. A very young couple have planned an outdoor wedding and as the processional starts one of the wedding party collapses and dies. Sage and her sister Prim, who served as the florist, are determined to find out what happened. Especially since the father of the bride, and Reverend, wants to have a funeral right away with only family invited.
