Before the infection, Marius Blackbird worked as a scientist for the government. But now he’s just a man trying to survive in a world where infection turns people into mindless living corpses.
Maya Pointe has lost everything and everyone, and the isolation is slowly consuming her. But venturing off the property could get her killed, or infected. When she sees an injured man, she wants to help him, but strangers aren’t to be trusted. The humanity in her wants to help the only person she’s seen in far too long.
Marius wants Maya, but she keeps her distance, and rightly so. But as they grow to know each other, the attraction and trust between them builds. He wants Maya as his, wants to have her by his side as they rebuild their lives in their destroyed world. Can they come to grips with the reality that nothing will ever be the same, and that they only have each other?
The final book in the Savage World trilogy and it was so good. Loved this story. Great characters and great storyline. Loved Marius and Maya. They were both trying to find their way in this new world after the events of their past lives. He was feeling guilt for being on the team who created the virus and she was suffering the loss of her parents. They were able to find themselves again with each other. Great series.
What happens when the good of science turns against humanity? They thought that they had a cure for cancer. What they really had was a virus that would bring on an Apocalypse.
Maya Pointe watched as her family slipped away and lost the battle against the virus that was slowly taking over the world. Marius Blackbird was a scientist who felt responsible for turning a majority of humanity into flesh craving death. Maya made the trek to her grandparents old homestead to live her life in solitude and safety. Marius fled an underground bunker in an attempt to escape insanity. Neither knew that what they were running for would bring them together and make them stronger.
This is my confession: Jenika Snow should write more in this style.
Marius carries a lot of guilt. Marius was part of the team that developed the virus. Maya struggles to get past what happened to her own family. They come together and help each other heal. Again, the story is a bit gruesome at times. Great epilogues. HEA.
This is another excellent entry in this intriguing series. The whole premise behind these gritty stories is sometimes almost too disturbingly plausible considering the covid-19 world we are living in. Out of the three books I think Marius and Maya's is the most cerebrally intense. Their histories and present situation really forces you to ponder some interesting questions about how you would feel and what you would do if you were them. I liked these two and was very happy they found each other and that they found love. I am freely choosing to post a truthful review.
I really enjoyed this series! This last book was great! I liked the characters and was so glad that they found each other and got a happy ending in a world that wasn't too happy anymore!
The last book in this series is still just as entertaining as book one. This time we get to meet the virologist and his lovely angel, along with the science behind the change in this new version of the world. I loved the relationships and the continuation of the world's development. This author knows how to mix romance and science fiction. The heat and tension was great but it was the mix of the entire story that kept me turning the pages. This story is a fun way to spend the evening.
I’m sad to see this trilogy coming to an end but I am so glad that I was along for the ride!! Marius is a government scientist specializing in virology before the nasty and deadly virus took over. Maya lost everything and everyone after the virus hit and is struggling daily just to survive. Marius and Maya have this instant connection but can she trust him? This story tie all of the books together and answers the burning questions. I highly recommend this series!!
Romance genre: post-apocalyptic Series: Savage World Length: 111 pages
Plot: A zombie-making disease has been unleashed on mankind and Maya has found herself a place to stay and wait it out (or maybe just survive). But one day she meets Marius, who is injured, and she brings him back to her home to nurse him back to health. But how will she react when she finds out that he might have been involved in creating the disease that is causing such havoc in the world?
Commentary: This is a fairly short story, with an isolated couple, a sort of forced-proximity situation. Maya is surviving on her own, but it is nice to have someone around to help her and to talk to. And maybe a little more. Marius carries the burdens of his past, though, having been part of the development of the zombie virus (not that he did it on purpose - the scientists never do). This was medium-steam, HEA, and sweet.
Love this series. Maya lost her parents to the epidemic and retreat with her dog to her families remote farm. Marius was a scientists who helped develop the vaccine that caused the epidemic, and for months looked for a fire with no luck. He abandons the government bunker, and takes his chances in the out side world. Heading deeper in the mountains, he is seriously injured and rescued by Maya. A past paced and steamy story. Great addition to the series!
Marius was a scientist involved in the worldwide epedemic. He knew he had to get away from the facility to try and survive. Maya she lived with her family but he dad had been infected ...she found him killing her mother . She had to leave. They meet and they travel together learning to trust each other. can they find a normal life ?can their love find a way? this book is a rewrite with added content a great read.
This addition to the series didn't seem to have the intensity of the others in the series, coupled with the fact of the lukewarm attraction, made it just okay for me
This is a good story. I love the whole end of the world plot and how it progresses. I was hoping for a little more action more intimate as well as more undead action. All in all a good book!
Story: 🌟 4/5 Spice level - 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5 Re-read/re-listen: Yep! Totally Recommend: Yes Trope: Touch her and die vibes, forced proximity, dooms day
Story:
I really liked this story. Inliked it better than Rebecca and Collins story. Not that I didn't like their story. But for some reason, this ine touched me more. Much like the first 2 books. This one was also quick, fast passed. I had it read in a few hours and I started researching dooms day books. Hahaha. This one was following Marius and Maya. There again was instant connection and the need to protect one another. You can read these as a stand-alone. They are based in the same world, and they do not cross paths. This is a couple, new love and connection, and how they plan to navigate this new world . She helps him when he finds himself injured. And they know they need to protect one another. Again, I loved the fast-paced, short, and sweet story. It was different from what inread. I like the dooms day element to it.
Truly scary when you think about what we are going thru in 2020, how easy it could come to this a cure that actually goes wrong. People are turned into basically zombies, but also those not infected turn to rob, rape and kill.
Maya’s family is gone, so she sets out to a cabin their family used to go to, away from civilization. Marius is one of the scientists that helped with the cure that infected those who took it, he feels guilt. He leaves the laboratory bunker, he needs the sun, he cannot remain there to wither and die.
He gets hurt while out in the forest and Maya helps him recuperate, they get to know each other and welcome another human contact, which leads into lust and eventually love. Chance brought them together and they chose to fight, together they are stronger and they will persevere.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Marius and Maya's story is a great way to end this series. I do wish there were more stories or a way for the different couples to meet and start a new community together. It can be hard to have an apocalyptic series with standalone stories because they can start to get redundant. Jenika's series was short but great. I enjoyed all three books though this last one felt a little rushed. I know she keeps these books a specific length but I didn't feel the chemistry with this couple as I did with the others. Still it's a good read and the story flowed. I love Jenika's writing and this book is no exception!
The third in this series, I read it when it first came out and loved it then. It's even better today because Jenika Snow has updated it, revised it and added more story to it. I loved the characters and how they had to learn to depend on each other. The added content just closed up endings that I wanted to know the first time around. Well done!!
Marius was a scientist working to find a cure for the epidemic sweeping the world. Now he's just trying to survive. He stumbles upon Maya's house but before he can speak to her he's attacked and suffers a knife wound. Maya brings him into her house and cares for him. Will love bloom?
What an end to a bloody epic series, Jenika Snow I bow down to your awesomeness as a writer and complete genius.
Marius one of the government scientists who helped produce the virus leaves the safety of the bunker he’s in to try and be some help any way he can, when he meets Maya she becomes his sole purpose in life, he’ll protect her with his last breath.
This series is a complete pleasure to read, the authors imagination a little dark, and thrilling makes you a cheer for the characters to get the happy ending they deserve. More like this pretty please.
Loved this series so much. After Maya loses her parents, she sets off with her dog to her grandfather's farmhouse. Marius being part of the team that invented the virus, knows he has to leave the underground bunker that he's been working in for a very long period of time. He isn't prepared to get hurt and run into Maya. Marius and Maya find each other even in the worst of times and neither one have to be alone any longer.
What a way to end this amazing series!! Maya and Marius’ story may be my favorite out of the 3. Their pasts are both heartbreaking but finding each other saves them. I felt all of the feelings reading this on and I’m sad that it’s the last one. I seriously enjoyed the heck out of this series! I received this book as an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Marius and Maya are all alone and I love that there wasn't a lot of drama up to the point where she finds her farm and he stumbles on her. There are dangers everywhere and this whole new world just kept me riveted. It was interesting to see Marius' side of the story as well. This is sexy and utterly hot but it's also exciting and scary not knowing what will happen. In the end, I was left smiling.
I'm sorry the series has come to an end. I really enjoyed it. This one had a lot less violence in it. Maya and Marius had more of a love story than the other couples. These books are well worth a read.
This is the third and final book in this series and I am sad to see it end. I really enjoyed reading Marius and Maya's story and how they came to depend on and love each other. I liked how there was some action and some deep emotions involved with is book. The way the book ended, I think was great and answered some of my questions throughout reading this series. I would recommend this book and this series
I received a free e-book copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is the thrid book in the series and just as entertaining and interesting as the other books. Marius Blackbird worked as a scientist for the government, specializing in virology before this deadly virus took over the world. Maya Pointe lost everything and everyone after the virus and has been struggling to survive. Marius amd Maya are wonderful team together, this is a series you need to read.
This story is so intense. The world is in utter chaos and no one that's alive is trustworthy. Maya lives at home with her parents but her father has been infected and she will have to kill him so he doesn't infect her or anyone else. She is now on her own living high up in the mountains in isolation. Marius was a scientist for the government before the infection. He feels a need to leave his underground bunker to see if there is anyone left to save. At this point the world no longer has much humanity left. It's survival of the fittest. Marius gets injured right outside Maya's home so she does what anyone with humanity would and takes him in. Eventually they feel more for each other. There is lots of scary intense action in this book. It will give you goosebumps. Marius is one big strong Alpha who is so sexy hot in the bedroom. This is my first Savages book from Jenika Snow and its was great. If you love some horror, sci-psy, a hot alpha, intense action, and hot bedroom scenes then this book is for you.
To be honest, I have never wanted to read a apocalypse romance. So going into this book, I was a little scared to read it. Maya has survived through some really tough years, she lost her parents leaving her all alone. She moved on to a place hoped would be safe. Marius is a scientist that had a hand in creating the vaccine. He decides to go out alone and see what he can find. He ended up hurt, Maya came to his rescue. She was leary around him, not sure if she could trust him. As time goes by Maya and Marius accept they feelings towards each other. I really liked this book. As always, Mrs. Snow, has done a wonderful job!
