TerraMates #3

Water World Confidential

Rate this book
He needed a wife. I wanted an alien lover.

The first time I saw Jori, I hated everything about him. He didn't care about anything except himself. On the other hand, his body was spectacular, and his muscles were firm. I couldn't stop thinking about him.

When TerraMates gave me the chance to marry Jori, I took it. I knew I needed the money. What I didn't know was that Jori's exterior was a facade, and he had kept secrets from everyone his entire life.

I liked this one less than the one with his brother.

The hero comes across as inadequate for his job. The heroine enjoys herself by sexually tormenting the hero. What does she do during while her husband is away from home? Nothing. The whole suspense plot fell flat and made the hero seem stupid. The explanation for his behavior towards his family was shallow. The silly couple gets a happy ending at least.

WATER WORLD CONFIDENTIAL by Lisa Lace is the third book in her TerraMates series. I'm a fan of this series and in my opinion Jori and Samantha's story is the best so far. I think I enjoyed this book more because I have read the first two books in the series, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone story.

Jori is the younger brother of Nathaniel from the first book in the series, Water World Warrior... he was a bit of a jerk, selfish, and his older brother was always worrying about him. But now he has his own story and I don't want to give out spoilers, but he is totally redeemed and we get to see the real Jori... a very sexy, very loving and protective, and self-sacrificing Jori. I loved his story even without the love story!!

Sam is Ashlynn's (Nathaniel's terramate) friend and a character I really liked from the first book so it was great getting to know her better too. She is bold, adventurous and not afraid to go for what she wants. A perfect match for Jori. Together they are an awesome couple.

I listened to the audio version of Water World Confidential and must say I liked the narration for this book more than the previous books. There is both a male and a female narrator who alternate per chapter based on the point of view for a particular chapter. I thought it worked out well and that each narrator voiced more feeling into what they were reading than the narrator of first two books.

Overall a great story I highly recommend! 4 stars

I don't know if it's because I listened to the audio book and the female reader was over the top saccharin or just the way it's written... but gosh... could this get any more formulaic and trite? "I'm no longer a secret agent! I'm free!" eye roll.

An okay read

I give this 3 stars because the authors writing isn't very consistent with its story line...This book picks up where the first one left off and we're reading that Samantha and Jori are getting married Jori is Nathaniel's brother that got into trouble and went to jail in the end of the first book. Well according to this one he's marrying Samantha because he needs a wife to impress his parole committee so Samantha agrees and signs up for the TerraMates program. This is the first problem I ran into if you've read the first book you will remember Samantha is the one that told Ash about the TerraMates program she said the only reason she didn't get in was because when she traveled over seas she caught malaria or something like that, but now all the sudden she qualifies?? Second thing that didn't make sense to me was Nathaniel was a pirate stealing shipments that were suppose to be delivered to refugee camps but they really weren't and his brother Jori was supposedly the one behind all the trouble he encountered with the shipments being diverted...This in no way matches up with the Jori we read about he is supposedly an undercover agent that is investigating a high profile official that is trafficking children selling them for adoption or worse experiments. So many things in the authors story doesn't match up it kind of drove me crazy like for instance in the first book Nathaniel and Ash almost get sucked out into the sea when they don't hear the warning bells and the authors reasons for this was to do with their three moons or something like that...but yet Jori and Samantha get stuck in the middle off freaking no where in the ocean and they don't have to worry about That? I don't know some may say I'm reading too much into it but I just don't like when an author can't even follow your own story line...When you get to book 2 in the series you will see what I'm saying TerraMates is supposedly an upstanding program, tightly run, stickler for rules, and they supposedly had an abundance of applicants to choose from....but book two says what do they do when they run out of willing females they kidnap them...say whaa??? When I read that I was like come the heck on lady you just said this program was top notch and they even refused Samantha due to her having Malaria that one time in the past but now they're reduced to kidnapping??? So anyways you can make your own judgements it was still a decent read I came across a few errors here and there but for the most part the worse is the inconsistency in writing that drives me insane..

DNF: This story started okay. As it continued on I felt less and less willing to go along with the, "I'm an asshole to my family because I'm undercover and it's tearing me up inside" plot point. It didn't make sense as part of the overall storyline or the operation the hero was trying to complete and it was draining to read. The clincher for me was a meeting between the hero, his wife, and a man serving as an information source. I can sum it up like this for you:

Hero: This conversation means everything to me and will save the children. I've dedicated years of my life to reach this moment right here and I won't take no for an answer.
Informant: No
Hero: Okay, let's just leave.
Heroine: Mr. Informant you're a bad, bad person and your mother would be ashamed of you!

Seriously. My tolerance for bad dialogue is tanking, and this whole scene just killed the book for me. I'd also like to point out that I have ZERO idea what the hero of the story looks like. I'm assuming he's humanoid but beyond that? I got nothing. There's several mentions of his water breathing organs but that's not explained other than something about absorbing oxygen through his torso. Oh and she mentioned he was beautiful. Skin color? Eyes? Does he have hair? Fins? I got nothing. Did I somehow miss it?

This is the story of the brother who was sent to prison in the first book. But you learn that he's really not the bad guy everybody thought he was. So to keep him out of jail he's going to buy him a bride get married and saw his case says he's a secret agent man. I didn't hear for the book because the guy who is supposed to be a secret agent who had gone to the school to To become a secret agent learn all the neat karate kind of stuff and still the girl ends up saving him more than he saves her. Course it does save her don't get me wrong but he just doesn't seem like the macho kind it should fight for the girl he's just kind of sorta dragging her along. I still gave it four stars because I like the story and you do see his brother Nathaniel and his wife in there again so it is a pretty good book.

Water World Confidential of the TerraMates series is a stand alone book with its own happily ever after although you are first introduced to the hero of the story in Water World Warrior (book 1). It would be best if you read that one first although it's fine if you don't. You just get a little bit of background on the characters. Again, not necessary to the story, but a little helpful if you do.

This book has it all...romance, danger, suspense, subterfuge...you name it and Lisa Lace has it covered. I love how each book in this series is different and not some cookie cutter version where only the names of the characters change. I look forward to my next read in this series. I wonder where Ms. Lace will take us next!

My feelings are divided ...
On the one hand, some things are totally annoying for me, and they were predictable, and on the other hand, the main characters of this story were almost sweet from the beginning.
I was a little annoyed by the incoherence of the book, suddenly it is mentioned how they did something or kissed whenever, and we as readers do not know it and the author writes as if it has already been mentioned somewhere, there is a way to add previous events to the story for the first time, and it's so bad there, that at one point I went to see if I skipped any books in between...
The story is a bit naive, but it serves to be fun times, so I won't object to that ...
She provokes him a lot, but he totally deserves it..
Let's move on...

This is the 3rd book in The TerraMate Series and ia a standalone. With supporting characters that crossover from a previous book in the series add to the story. I love reading about characters that we met in other books. This one follows Jori & Sam as a marriage of convience turns into something more. Jori is the younger brother of Nathaniel from the first book in the series. Sam is Ashlynn's friend who is Nathaniel's terramate. The plot of this novel is intriguing & character's are compelling. A sexy spicy action packed sci-first romance novel. I volunteerly reviewed an advanced reading copy of this book.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

So I read Water World Warrior of the Terramates series first and then went backward through the series. So it was nice to come back to Nathaniel and Ashlyn. See what happened with Jori.
Not I ends up being an undercover agent for the government working to find out what is happening to disappearing kids. He sacrifices his real life for the undercover job he's doing. To stay out of trouble he marries Sam.
Sam starts out pretty much scared and affected by everything. Towards the end she gains a little courage. Jori was kind of a jerk for most of the book but for a good cause.

Samantha gets. more and less than she bargained for.

Marrying an alien was supposed to be great! Sex with with the hot body of her new husband, the brother of her sister's new alien should have been a new and exciting experience but things are far from what she expected. The story is intriguing and fun from start to finish and I recommend reading it yourself and you'll be hooked!

Samantha and Jori were first mentioned in "Water World Warrior"- which I loved. In this story, we learn more about Jori and his "secret" life. This life has taken so much from him. Will it also cost him the woman he has come to care for? I'm not going to give away any spoilers but I will say that I think this has to be one of my favorites in the series.

Fast paced and much better than the last book, I feel like I could have skipped that one entirely and not missed anything between book 1 and 3.

Sammy and Jori are hiding who they truly are to each other and others. Each has reasons for the need to marry.

Jori needs to show that he is settling down and exhibiting a stable lifestyle.

Sammy needs money and wants to leave her planet. The two met at Joe's brother's wedding where they shared a kiss and have not truly forgotten each other?.

For some unknown reason I has a hard time getting into the book. It is well written and the characters were interesting while the flow of story was continuous will weaving a good plot. Glad I finished the book it was worth it.

I voluntarily reviewed an copy of this book.

Action-packed

This story can be read as a stand alone but is best if read after the first Terra Mates book as it is about Nat's brother and Ashlyn's friend (Jory and Sam).
A character twist, unexpected feelings, and lots of action kept this story entertaining and enjoyable for me.
I really liked the first book in this series but almost gave up on the second as it really had nothing to do with TerraMates. This third installment was somewhat of a continuation or revisit to the first book and redeemed the series for me.
The narrators for the audiobook were great in bringing the story to life and really fit the characters.

What a fast pace series, with different twists and turns, Lisa Lace has done a phenomenal job writing, her word which flow keeps you so enthralled your unable to put the book down you have to finish all the way to the end it doesn't matter what you have to do you just have to finish. In this senario of a bad boy who feels like he's not good enough to be with her, is strange at first because he was in book one. He acted like a trashy rich playboy. The TerraMates have Samantha Morrow aka: Sam getting married to Jori on the Planet Vandwan which was probably 90% water, the language and signs were all in Vandwa. And there main food was seafood which was very hard for earthlings to eat.
Jori had to go to jail for a year he was so deep undercover, I government operative investigating a child trafficking organization. I just couldn't let her know I was, absolutely no one can know who I am. I couldn't make her part of my life, if I did they could use her to get to me. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

~I received this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.~

Have I said how much I love this series? Well I do. From the very first book this series has been full of action, full of romance, and of course all of this naughty bits ;) I really really like how Lisa Lace put everything together. Her stories just flow so well.

The narrator, as usual, was on point, and I especially love the fact that we had a male narrator in addition to our female narrator. He was also on point. Kudos to them both!

In this particular story I specifically enjoyed the attention it's mean Jory and Sam. I loved their back-and-forth and how feisty Sam is, and I also love how she overcame her fears to save the man she loves. I'm also very happy to see that there was a reason for the way the first book ended. The first thing I said as soon as I found out about Jory, was "Oh! Now I get it! Now it makes perfect sense!"
(If you want to know what I'm talking about, you have to read the first book all the way to the end. No spoilers here!)

Overall, this was another excellent book in an excellent series. I highly recommend this one.

I'm gonna be honest and say I had some trouble getting into this one like I did the previous story. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think it had something to do with the way the female narrator made the character sound so whinny throughout the story. I have a problem with adults who act like whinny children and the female character was made to sound like that almost the entire time. Also, at times, the way the narrators would say certain things did not seem to match up to the reactions the characters were supposed to be having. For example; at one point Jori said something to Sam that was suppose to sound seductive and playful, but the way the narrator said it made it sound like he was insecure and asking a question rather than making a statement.

However, had I read this instead of listening I probably would have liked it more. The author wrote a really interesting story with plenty of action and adventure, plus the hawt moments. I'm gonna say the author did a great job, but the narrators kind of drag it down for me a bit.

I'm gonna listen to the next book and hope it gets back to the level of enjoyment the first book gave me.

I was given this audiobook free for an unbiased review. This is only the 2nd book I have read from Lisa Lace. Taken was a good book and this one was equally as good. It was short so it didn't allow for broad character development or a deep story plot. It covered more ground than you would have thought for such a short story. I loved that I could listen to it in a little more than a day. Not as short as some, but shorter than other books. Samantha's character was almost too feminine to Jori's strong masculine character. I'm sure that was the author's intent, but I tend to like a female that can take care of herself. In the end, she came through. I have the first book to listen to and I'm assuming that it is Jori's brother. I will start that one soon. I believe I will continue with Lisa's TerraMate series. They are as thrilling, suspenseful and romantic as a novella can be. The narrators did a pretty good job. You get used to a male and female sounding Samantha and Jori when both are reading them. Strange at first but you get used to it.

This was not like the previous books and at first I was going to say maybe Jori should have remained a side character from book one but he grew on me. Especially after he says all of his being a jerk was just an act for his job.

At times I thought that didn't ring true though. I mean why be a jerk to everyone. How does that help you save little kids?

Anyway, once I went along with the pretense the book was action packed. We see the water can have a dark side for Vandwans. If they're not conscious they can drown just like humans because they can't use there gills.

Action wasn't really what I was looking for in a mail order bride series so this isn't my favorite but it won me over. As I said in other reviews, I'm really enjoying this author's writing.

Gifted copy in exchange for honest review:

Before reading this book please read Water World Warrior. It will allow you to understand a great deal of the conflict in Jori's mind and life. From a personal viewpoint it let me see the "other side" of Jori so that was a plus for me. I had wondered when Water World Warrior what had happened to the youngest brother and now I have the rest of the story. Makes this series better for me because not only is it a Terramate relationship but also brings back characters from another Terramate paring. Great way to enhance the other book.

Excellent. This story was the perfect blend of action an well paced plot. I'm very glad to find out Jori wasn't exactly the man we all thought him to be and Sam was his perfect match. Both were brave and passionate in this tale. It was funny to read of a bride going to a world primarily filled with water who is plagued with motion sickness. Although it didn't come up too much. For that I am grateful.

It was packed full of adventure. It was better than the first, but even with all the adventure I felt it was slow somehow. I'm glad Jori wasn't what I thought he was. I like the relationship between the two. I liked Sam's character it fit well with him. Not sure I will continue reading the series. It's lacking something and I'm not sure what
