Marla Madison currently works part-time doing arbitration for the the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.
Hard at work now as an author, she is writing her sixth novel of suspense. Her first series, the TJ Peacock & Lisa Rayburn suspense series, has three editions out, the third, Girl Undone, has just been released. Marla is currently working on the third novel in her second suspense series which spotlights Detective Kendall Halsrud.

Some of her favorite things are playing duplicate and tournament bridge, golf, reading, pontooning, and taking long walks with her dog.
I enjoyed the story, but had a difficult time getting into it at the beginning. I feel the same way about the first 2 books in this series by the author: they start slow, but if you stay with it you'll get into a good story.
I had a hard time trying to figure out which character was talking, acting, or thinking. I found it hard to keep up with the characters in all 3 books in the series. Most of the characters feel flat, with little description about them to give you an idea of how they would react in certain situations. They need to be fleshed out more before telling us what their reaction would be.
I knew I should have stopped reading in the beginning when one of the characters, a psychiatrist, implied that all children who were spanked became spousal abusers. It only got worse from there. The characters were poorly constructed. I didn't need two or three descriptions of someone's outfit. Once was enough, thank you. There were places where the wrong name was used when referring to characters. Sentences either repeated words or simply omitted them. I'm starting to wonder if Editors even exist anymore. There were too many mistakes, not just in the writing but in the storyline as well, for this to be considered worth a read. FYI: Ms. Madison, JR will have to be portrayed as a genius if you choose to take this farther since he's only one and on a developmental level of a two or three year old. Child development was probably your easiest research and you failed on that too.
This story was a mess of discombobulated weird events. I have not read the other books but I have a feeling I would be very disappointed if I had read the previous 2 and got to this one to find out it was more of a continuation of events that should have been resolved/closed on the previous book, and more.. the end had a cliff-hanger that leads to a conclusion that the crime was still not resolved.
I felt like the writer did not know where to focus on. TJ was hired to find out what happened to Rina's niece who disappeared for a few days and showed up drugged at a mall... ok this is one story.
In parallel a crime blogger is being harassed by a possible copycat who is killing women and wants his killings to be publicized.
It was just too many events and too many people out of nowhere that made the story hard to follow and uninteresting.
I really wanted to like this book. The plot started off decently, but I quickly found myself struggling to keep up with the multitude of characters introduced. None of the characters were likeable either. The author's style of writing was frustrating, in addition to the various grammatical and formatting errors. I guess there's a reason it was free on bookbub. I also didn't see the point in the main character dropping the g's on her words, especially when 1. None of the other characters spoke like that and 2. She was the only character clearly described as a person of color 🤔 Too many unanswered questions at the end and no desire to read anything else from this series or author.
This was a good, fun book. There were several plots twisted around each other, and when one was done, it didn't conclude the others! I would have given the book of fourth jar, but the format was pathetic! Another proof-reading would have added immensely! Tenses and misuse of pronouns was the least of it. When "it" gets used for "if", it changes the entire meaning! I am known to be picky about my grammar, but I don't think that was the problem entirely! Work on punctuation, spelling, usage, and grammar in general!!
It took me a long time to finish this book. It just did not capture my attention. I’ve liked other books by this author and when thinking about why I didn’t care for this book there are two reasons: one, the two main ‘victims’ were not likeable. It was hard to feel empathy for the poor little rich girl who did stupid things or the obnoxious journalist. The second reason was too much time spent on all the supporting characters personal lives that could have been better spent on developing the main story.
Story was hard to follow - very convoluted. A lot of different characters introduced in the very beginning which made it hard to keep them straight. Harder still when the author sometimes referred to a character by first name & sometimes by last name. There were gaps in the story. Often I would be starting a new chapter and feel lost like I had missed something. I finished the book still not sure how everything related. Only finished this one for the sake of finishing.
I liked the story, the way the pieces all the pieces fit together, and the fact that for the most part all of the characters seemed like nice people. I hated that the TJ Peacock character's conversation was written in vernacular and that none of the other characters was, which made it hard for me to believe she was as smart as she was supposed to be. She was not believable to me.
I received this book for free because of a giveaway on Facebook! This book was well written and keeps you turning pages from beginning to end! The ending made me feel that maybe they shouldn't have ended the book when they did! But yet when you read the book and think about it it was the perfect ending!
TJ Peacock is hired by Rina Petretti to discover where her niece, Kelsey Blasko, has been for the previous few days as she disappeared under mysterious circumstances. A local blogger, Bart Kosik, is being threatened, and soon a body turns up next to his home. Is he likely to be the next victim. A enjoyed this thriller/mystery story.
I have read all three of the Lisa Rayburn-TJ Peacock books. They were delightful reads. They can be read as stand-alone but were great read in order. I enjoyed them very much. I would like to recommend the proofreaders be a bit more attentive to simple errors in spelling and grammar.
Woman who is a private detective, married to a police detective, have a son. Mom is bio and Dad is stepdad. TJ, the private detective, takes on a bizarre case. Young woman, had an affair with an older man. A doctor, who stole her eggs,to put into his wife. Other characters in this book too.
First book of the series that I have read, but it was ok as a stand alone work. The characters are believable and I finished the book wanting to know what happened to them next.
The story had my attention but TJ's slang/accent made me want to put the book down. I would say I looked forward to reading more from this series but I don't think I can get past that. I might have to check out other books by the author though :)
I read many suspense & mysteries. This series is one of the best. The characters are likable, complex & honest adults. I await the next entry in TJ & Lisa series. There are at least 4 story lines I am excited to follow Thank you
At times there are so many things happening with the characters that you don't know who to worry about first. But before long you figure out who's the good guys are and all I wanted was for them to survive. Great read.
I love this series! The characters are so real and compliment each other. You think of them as real people. You can't go wrong reading this book or the other two in this series. Thank you Ms Madison for creating these characters!
A young girl is found in the mall by TJ. This leads to the girls aunt hiring TJ and Lisa to help her niece. There is a lot of things happening. Murder of some of the people involved in the case.
I wasn’t a fan of the unbelievable storylines, multitude of characters, and references to events from past books that weren’t needed, but I was even less impressed with the stereotypical remarks around homosexuality and the speech difference for the one character of color. Not a good look imo.
Too many characters. Not very good writing. I've read 2 of her books, probably won't read any more. Luckily, these were free kindle books from BookBub.
I have made a New Years Resolution not to read anymore free books written by american women, they are invariable poor with ridiculous plots and unbelievable characters..
Every book in this series is gripping, this one I didn't see the end coming. This definitely is a "I cannot put it down". Love this author and cannot wait for number four
