Brides of Beckham #17

Mail Order Mistletoe

Rate this book
Meg O'Reilly wonders what ever made her want to be a teacher. The last four members of the demon horde are making her life miserable. When one of them slaps a copy of the Grooms' Gazette on her desk and tells her to go see their older sister so she can find her a groom, she reads through the paper and decides to do just that. Confident in her decision, she sends a letter to the man she chooses that very day.
The one thing Lars Borgen is not looking for is love. He wants a wife to share his life, his work, and his bed, but he doesn't ever expect to feel any tender emotions for her. Expecting a plain bride, he is startled when beautiful Meg steps off the train looking for him. Will he be able to hold steadfast and keep from falling in love? Or will his sweet, pretty bride win him over, giving him a second chance at love?

Another great series by Osbourne. She brings her great sense of humor into every story and I love the way her characters and series overlap.

The ‘demon horde’ of Beckham strikes once again, and this time it’s going to cost the town their school teacher. Meg has had enough. When the oldest of the Miller students tauntingly tosses down a newspaper and tells her to go see his matchmaking sister – she does, almost immediately.

Meg is matched with a gentleman who offers her the best solution – except for that I’ll never love you part. But she’s certain that she can overcome that in time. The trouble is that Lars truly meant that part, and now Meg has to decide what happens to them next. Lars has a painful past and he’s not willing to let it go. Yet he certainly doesn’t expect his new bride to be so enticing, and such a good cook. It’s going to be hard to not fall for Meg.

Mail Order Mistletoe is a story of loss, and of taking a chance again. I enjoyed Meg and Lars, they had a spark from the start and it was a charming journey to their happy ending. If you’ve loved the Brides of Beckham series then you’ll be happy to add this one to your collection – if you haven’t started then this is a fun read but I’d really suggest to go back and start from the beginning.

A cute and short Christmas story that will fill your heart and warm your soul. Faced with a room full of the "Demon Horde" for the rest of her career, or becoming a mail order bride, Meg opts for the most pleasant, or at least what she hopes will be. She only hopes that Ms. Tandy will be able to help her out. Anything to get away from the group of houdlans. Lars needs a woman's touch in his life. After loosing his young wife and son a couple of years ago, he knows he won't be able to survive another winter alone. But he claims that he will never love his new wife, as long as she understands. But the heart doesn't always listen to the brain, and soon enough, Lars learns a valuable lesson in life. Sometimes, just sometimes, we're given another chance in life. All we have to do is reach out and grab it.
Beautifully written, this short is the perfect bedtime story that will leave you with a warm glow to fall asleep with.

The Miller four children and one teacher did not mix, they weren't sorry for the pranks they pulled. One month and the list, from being locked in the outhouse to a snake in her desk, didn't begin to cover them. Mail Order Bride sounded good, yet only one letter sounded possible. No love, and between 19-22, cook and clean, anything was better than teaching,
He set down what he wanted, good thing she liked challenges. His house told a different story, when she seen the nursery. She was a replacement bride, he wanted a son. Cute story of how a smile changed Lar's thinking. Readers will enjoy reading as well as others by the author.

Meg O’Reilly is the school teacher in Beckham and is having to deal with the last four members of the “demon horde” (also known as the Miller children – the siblings of the matchmaker Elizabeth Miller Tandy). The oldest of the “demon horde” slaps a copy of the Grooms’ Gazette on her desk and tells her since she was such a failure at teaching she should find herself a husband.

Lars Borgen, a Norwegian immigrant, is looking for a wife to share his work and life but is not looking for love. He believes he can’t love another woman after his first wife and love of his life died.

This is such a great story and I would highly recommend it.

This was a short, sweet mail order bride story. I had a little trouble with how quickly Meg went from being a teacher to wanting to be a mail order bride. I have teachers in my family and despite her difficulties with what she called the "demon horde" I would have thought she would have agonized a bit more over leaving her family and her chosen profession.

Very well written love story, Lars claims he will never love a woman again, yet he wrote and advertised for a mail-order bride.
He wrote..I will never love you, I do want a son, cook and companion. Who would want him? Meg would..very interesting plot, fun and very romantic. I loved this.

Great Story

Truly enjoyed reading this book continuing the Beckham Brides saga. Each book is thoroughly enjoyable and in no way redundant. This teacher ran off to marry a man who states he will never love her, all to escape the demon horde.

Feel good!

What an adventure to marry a man sight unseen. I can just feel the raw courage, like to believe I could make that choice. But to go to a man that says he'll never love you, that takes courage to the extreme. Great characters!

Nice

Kirsten's books are always sweet and enjoyable. There is no graphic sex scene but it's not needed to make this an enjoyable story. A nice short book for a rainy day.

A Christmas surprise for all Brides of Beckham fans! This series is a wonderful, funny addition to mail-order bride stories everywhere. Meg is dealing with the youngest four Miller children known as "the demon horde". Incorrigible, Rotten, Misbehaved brats. They drive her from teaching and into a mail order bride situation.

Lars is a man without a will to love. After losing his wife and stillborn son, Lars needs a companion. A helpmate who will cook and clean and keep her distance. For Meg, this is the perfect offer to escape the brats.

Join Lars and Meg as their journey leaves the reader chuckling and cheering for the pair to find love.

I've truly loved the Beckham series. Her style of writing makes me smile and relax as her description of the surroundings make you feel as you are sitting right in the story. Whether it's describing the floors that need scrubbed or that are gleaming or the way the ranches or farm lands look down to the details of the animals in the barns, she makes you feel like you are right there. AND the relationships between the lead characters with their past lives are just wonderful.

I loved the start of this series, but after seventeen books it would appear that the ideas have ran out as this book is pretty much the same as at least two others that I have read.

So an enjoyable book if you have never read the series before but boring if you have started from the beginning, (which I suggest you do)

Sweet western!

A beautiful story of adventure and second chance at love. Lars swore he would never love Meg. What he didn't realize was that loving Meg was what he really needed to live again.

Very good holiday book

I enjoyed this book. Light reading. A cute short Holiday story. I liked the Characters and setting. Of course it could have been longer with more build up between them. But it was a cute story.

A Sweet Read

There's only one reason why the book didn't receive 5 stars: I wanted to find out more--their friendships, children, relationships with their families.
