And this series gets even more intense.

The beginning grabs you, yanks you into Hunter’s nightmares, and gives you a little reprieve before sending you back into the horror.

After the horrific loss Hunter endured, I didn’t see a happy ending for him. I’m crossing my fingers things get better, but don’t see that in the foreseeable future. He’s on the run, hunted for what he knows. Desperate measures must be taken.

Well, the author did it again. Kept me tearing through this episode, cringing, cheering, and hoping. Mutation Z is like zombie M&Ms. You can’t read just one and keep reaching for more.

Can’t wait for the next one.

I loved the third book in the series and couldnt wait to start with this book but it had to wait until after Christmas and New Year vacation. I did read this book on the way home from Sweden to Czech Republic. I was reading in the car and I thought I would finish it quickly because it is a short read but it took me longer than I thought to finish it. The reason is that I had trouble getting into it.

Parts of this book is very slow and not a lot of things is happening. We are now, mostly, following Morgan Hunt and his story to uncover the truth about the Zombie virus. His story here in this book is very boring even if there is a lot of feelings going on. I couldnt really connect with hi and his story and I miss the action from the first books and I miss Emma, that we followed in the first book.

The story is very different in this one than in the other once before it and I think that is talking against it. This book is more mature, in some ways, more struggling and more talking and planning. In a normal book this is an important part but in this novella it felt so wrong. It it was a full length book I dont think I would have minded it as much as I did in this one.

Parts of this book is really well written and very interesting and I specially like the last part of the book where some things is starting to happening again. I really hope the last two books will be better than this one because I got them for Christmas so I will read them. Overall this is a good series so far but the first book or novella is the best.

Mutation Z: Drones Overhead by Marilyn Peake is the fourth novella in this zombie series that had me feeling like upchucking one minute and kicking ass the next.

Journalist Hunter Morgan awoke in McAllen, Texas, and remembered the massacre. As he raged, tearing apart the cell he had been placed in, they shot him with a tranquilizer dart…but there is a ray of hope and it is more important than ever he survive.

The virus is reaching epidemic proportions and a madman is running the Zombie Hunters.

The situation becomes more dangerous. Isolated and housebound, they plot their next course of action. They had to stop THEM before the situation reached an apocalypse, wiping out humanity.

Can it be stopped? Is it already too late?

With governments running AMOK, the media spewing lies and terror, the zombie population growing and the attempt to stop them reaching a level of savagery nobody could have foreseen, the clock is ticking and time is running out.

Maybe it is was me, but I didn’t feel the level of urgency that I felt leading up to #4. Maybe because, in Drones Overhead, we cover details of how they stay hidden, what they do to disguise themselves, and planning what comes next. We can’t be running willy nilly or no one will survive.

Needless to say, I can hardly wait to read Mutation Z: Dragon in the Bunker, #5. The title alone makes me think something even more terrible is going to go wrong (if such a thing is possible) and I want to be there!

I received a copy of Mutation Z: Drones Overhead by Marilyn Peake in return for an honest review.

After an attack by zombie-hunting militia members kills Hunter Morgan’s wife and daughter, he is distraught, but barely manages to survive. He learns, though, that his friends were able to save the baby his wife carried. While visiting the hospital where the baby is being treated, he learns that instead of being treated, those infected with the Mutation Z virus are instead being sent to a secret government program where terrible things are being done.
Hunter is determined to bring the truth to light, but he must evade the militia and the authorities in order to do so.
Mutation Z: Drones Overhead by Marilyn Peake is the fourth in the Mutation Z series of chilling stories about government overreach and the unleashing of a deadly virus upon the world. While not quite up to the standards of the first three books, this story of Morgan’s efforts to get at the truth behind the government’s nefarious program and expose it to the world is still a welcome change from the usual zombie stories. A minor character in the first story, Morgan has quickly become the central focus of the stories, and as usual, even though many of the conflicts raised in this book are reconciled, the author has ended on something of a cliff hanger, which makes me anxious for the next book.

I am completely involved in this series. Out of the other few zombie apocalypse books I have read, none if them go into detail how it started. In this book Hunter finds out the conspiracy goes further than originally thought. On the run from the folks responsible for starting it, he changes his looks drastically in an effort to evade the helicopters, drones and media. Hunter vows to bring light to the plans of the people responsible and make the world a safe place again! After all, he does still have something or someone to live for!!
