Σύμφωνα με το θεατρικό έργο του Χάουαρντ Μπρετον, ο Χριστός δεν πέθανε στον σταυρό αλλά διασώθηκε χάρη στη δωροδοκία ενός Ρωμαίου στρατιώτη, παντρεύτηκε την Μαρία τη Μαγδαληνή και συνέχισε τη ζωή του κρυμμένος σε σπηλιές για δέκα περίπου χρόνια μετά. Όλα αυτά τα κρατούνε κρυφά από τον Σαούλ που μετονομάστηκε Παύλος επειδή τον θεωρούν φανατικό και δεν θέλουν να διαταράξουν την πίστη του. Την τελευταία νύχτα όμως της ζωής του, φυλακισμένος από τους Ρωμαίους, ο Πέτρος του εξομολογείται την αλήθεια. Την επόμενη ημέρα και ο Παύλος και ο Πέτρος θα εκτελεστούν από τους Ρωμαίους. Τελικά πόσο νόημα έχει η αλήθεια; Πόσες αλήθειες υπάρχουν; Και όταν είσαι καταδικασμένος να πεθάνεις και δεν σε σώζει τίποτα, τελικά τι υπερτερεί: η πίστη ή η αλήθεια; Και γενικά πόσο ανάγκη έχουμε όλοι μας την πίστη για να επιζήσουμε και να συνεχίσουμε να ονειρευόμαστε;
