This is the 10th book in the Jessica Daniels series by author Kerry Wilkinson. I have now read most of the books in this series and although I do enjoy it I have to admit they are not classics. The characters are interesting and the plots on the whole are reasonably strong but there is something not quite there. I like the character Jessica Daniels and the writing style reminds me at times of Stuart MacBride's Logan McRae series which I also enjoy. On the whole it is an enjoyable series but this particular book didn't cut it for me.

The plot is that houses are been burgled and ransacked only for the money to be redistributed to local charities. Maybe some people would think this to be a good deed but Detective Inspector Jessica Daniel is on the hunt for the perpetrators.

There were certainly flashes of high points that I enjoyed and probably more accustomed to but unfortunately the writing was at times amateurish and disjointed. It had  the feel of a book that was running late and this spoilt my general enjoyment.

That said I do intend to continue reading both this series and the authors other work and hope that this is just a blip.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this arc.

I keep meaning to read this series front to back, beginning to end but haven't managed to do so yet. This is the 3rd in this series of 10 that I've read and it was nice to meet up with the familiar characters again as well as meeting some new ones. But I've got to go back and fill in with the other books in this run. For me, there were gaps and it's my own fault for not following along. This was an enjoyable read (even with my self-inflicted gaps).

Overall, an fast paced story with multiple crimes / criminals woven up into a complex spider web of a book.

Another compelling read in this tenth book of the excellent police procedural series featuring Detective Jessica Daniel of the Longsight Police. In this outing, as usual, Jessica is juggling multiple cases but most of the focus is on solving one that involves home invasion robberies. In addition, there's a human trafficking situation. Jessica's colleagues are mostly the same as in previous books with a few changes, most notably the second appearance of DS Archie Davey and the absence of DCI Jack Cole -- so she has a new boss. I enjoy her interaction with the team.

I am a fan of this series and I've read them all, in order, and would urge anyone interested to do the same so that you see all of what Jessica has gone through from the start. Her character is well-developed and constantly adapting to the events that happened and the people she works with. I look forward to #11 and definitely like the writing style of Kerry Willkinson. The plots are usually quite complex and, though there is action, the pace is more measured as the investigations develop.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the e-book ARC to read and review.

Another great book in the Jessica Daniels series. There are a few cases Jessica is investigating. Home invasion burglaries and human trafficking are a couple of them. The new DCI is a bit of a jerk to Jessica but she soldiers on to get the job done. The ending blew me away. I had no preconceived idea of what it would be but it is brilliant. Looking forward to the next book. Thank you NetGalley, Bookoutre and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.

Detective Jessica Daniel has her hands full with some home invasions that leaves families wondering if they will be next. Jessica finds a link between the home invasions and the un-solved murder of a notorious criminal, so who is doing this and why? Then there is a problem from her past that could be her un-doing. This person is watching and waiting to strike. Can Jessica and the gang get it all figured out to save not only families but Jessica herself? Oh did I mention she has a new boss in this one? Just add more logs to the fire. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from Bookouture. This is my own opinion of it.

Another good addition to the Jessica Daniel Series. I really enjoyed the mystery storyline, and was saddened by the goings on in Jessica's personal life. I think she's a great character and hope things will turn around in her personal life soon.

For Richer, For Poorer – Another Great Daniel Thriller

For Richer, For Poorer, is the tenth book in the Jessica Daniel series which goes from strength to strength in its writing. There are some mistakes in the plot but I would spot them coming from Manchester, and know that any robberies in Cheadle/Gatley come under Stockport command at Cheadle Heath not Longsight which covers Wythenshawe, Didsbury and Fallowfield. Then again I am an anorak!

For Richer, For Poorer, sees DI Jessica Daniel return to work after a long layoff and she now under a new command at Longsight Station, DCI Cole has retired and DCI Topper has been brought in from outside of the Greater Manchester Police divisions. Topper has a whiteboard in his office with all the Inspectors under him with the unsolved crimes list, Daniels has too many in the unsolved box and is under pressure.

Topper sends Daniel to investigate a couple of armed burglaries in the Cheadle and Gatley area, where money and jewellery has been taken from the houses. When another one happens out in Gatley, Daniel is not too sure about the burglary but that does not matter she will investigate all the same.

At the same time Bex who lives with Daniel has a student friend who is having neighbour problems out in the student bedsit land. Daniel goes out to visit the student, Sam, and ends up with a man mountain of a Serbian escaping her grasp while a prostitute is trying to scratch her to death. It does not help when she finds out the Serbian is wanted for murder in Manchester and his so-called wife is missing.

As these investigations are running a bankrupt lottery winner who keeps appearing on her radar and she cannot put her finger on what but she knows something is wrong, especially as he is once again living in a rundown council house in the Stretford area. Something else for her to get her teeth in to as she knows something cannot be right in his house.

One thing Daniel is aware of is that the burglaries were clever, but when they start giving the money away are trying to confuse the issue. They are evidence savvy and have clearly watched too much CSI as they are trying to create a perfect crime. The Serbian seems to have gone to ground and seems involved in a lot of things but never seems to be hands on.

With three different investigations running at the same time Daniel is still after a win to go on Topper’s whiteboard she knows she is under pressure and people want her to fail. She knows she needs to show she can still do the job, kill the gossips around the station and win approval of those above.

Kerry Wilkinson has written another winning crime thriller as you feel the pressure that Daniel is under. You can tell he knows the area and the various problems with traffic and how even a 5 minute journey can take a lot longer. He knows his subject and Daniel is maturing in to a fantastic detective, even if she has defects, this series is going from strength to strength.

Couldn't wait to finish it. Not sure why I carried on really. Didn't like the plot. Too bitty. Didn't 'get into the characters'. When I read the first couple of pages I thought, I'm going to like this, but it went downhill from there. Very disappointing.

As a big fan of kerry Wilkinson books I found this one rather disappointing . The initial robbery part was quite engrossing but didn't depict the whole incident ,the prostitution ring didn't have enough depth to it .
Lack of action and dull storyline this was a take it or leave it book . Its only saving grace was that it was quite short otherwise I may have given up on it .

While I do love this series and I have been reading it from the first book, I wasn't thrilled with this story. I thought it was a fast-paced, breathtaking beginning and then It slows down to a snails pace. It does pick back up again eventually but I had hard time staying interested. I do look forward to the next book in this series. I thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Won't be reading any more ,

I have read all the books about Jessica Daniel's, but no more I loved the series, but she never gets a break in the rest of her life. Why don't you just kill her off that would be preferable to the last two books no one has that many bad breaks. It has become boring!!!

This was the first book that I have read by Kerry Wilkinson and the first book in the Jessica Daniels series (this is book #10). I will now have to go back and catch myself up to understand a lot of the plot that I am lacking due to not reading the first nine books in the series. This was a fun, fast paced, suspenseful read for me. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the married couple Harry (Harriet) and Ian and their doldrums like marriage which gets turned up a notch by unexpected visitors in the night. This unlikely and unfortunate event sets the pace for the rest of the book which will later introduce the protagonist, Jessica Daniels, in chapter 2.

Jessica Daniels is a detective who is faced with solving ongoing crimes in her city as a string of burglaries has been occurring in the rich neighborhoods. The thieves are taking notes from Robin Hood and feel as if they are doing the less fortunate communities a favor by "robbing the rich to give to the poor". Jessica throws herself into her work, not just because she enjoys her job, but rather to distract herself from the fact that her lover, Adam, was blown up in her car a while back. While she is grieving she makes it her mission to rid the world of crime, as well as solve the mystery of what really happened in the so-called car "accidental" explosion. There are several different twists and turns and plots that will really keep you on the edge of your seat as you literally watch the drama unfold right before your eyes as if it were a movie.

Things really get kicked up a notch when Jessica's not-so-much roommate, Bex, asks her to help her college friend out who is having difficulties at her flat. When Jessica agrees to check things out, she's in for more than she bargained for when a world of human trafficking is thrust upon her lap. The ending of the book through me for a loop and I had to reread it again to make sure I had read it right. It really is a surprising twist of an ending, yet one, I know Jessica is happy about (in my personal opinion).

All in all this was an great read and I enjoyed it. I would like to thank Noelle Holten of Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this advanced reader's copy.

The police are perplexed when a series of home invasions leads to Robin Hood type donations to various charities the day after. When Detective Jessica Daniel uncovers a possible connection between the robberies and the unsolved murder of a notorious criminal, will what her investigation reveal lead the woman straight into danger? Will a personal favor lead Jessica down a dangerous path?

I like police procedural thrillers featuring strong female characters, but the complications in Jessica's personal life completely overshadow the investigative process. I have liked other books in this series, but I was disappointed with the pacing and the lack of character development. Overall, if skipping a book would prove to not be confusing to the story arc that travels between the novels, I would recommend not reading For Richer, For Poorer.

Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy of For Richer, For Poorer by NetGalley and the publisher, Bookouture. The choice to review this book was my own.

For Richer, For Poorer by Kerry Wilkinson is the latest in the series featuring DI Jessica Daniel. The current bothersome case involves home invasions and robberies of cash and jewelry involving unusual prior knowledge of the homes and their security systems. The new DCI is frustrated and wants the robberies solved posthaste.

If that were not bad enough, the day following each robbery, the police begin getting calls from various charities saying someone made huge anonymous donations in cash. Are the thieves taking a page from the Robin Hood tales?

In another tangle, Bex asks Jessica to see if she can help a friend whose neighbor's activities are disturbing her...which leads to a revelation involving sex trafficking.

Jessica is still dealing with the aftermath of events in the last book and a new DCI who doesn't appear to have much confidence in Jess or her abilities.

I’m obviously missing but a lot in character development by not reading these in order and I will go back and read the earlier ones as they become available.

Jessica is tasked with solving the current spate of burglaries. These villains are taking jewelry and money but are lgifting” some of the money to local charities.

She also has other cases on her mind and is getting grief from her boss for not moving fast enough on all these. Still feeling uneasy from the aftermath of something that happened in a previous book, Jessica is not sure of her status in the precinct.

Quite by accident, Jessica stumbles upon a prostitution ring involving Eastern European girls.

These several cases leave Jessica with little free time and lots of pressure building up.

The novel is a little frenetic with all that is going on but it all comes together at the end.

A THRILLING 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ READ!!

"For Richer, For Poorer" is a thrilling, edge of your seat read!

Jessica is dealing with the aftermath of her car exploding - she doesn't want to talk about it. She believes the explosion was meant for her.

When she returns to work, she's involved in a couple of cases: four robberies and human trafficking. DCI Lewis Topper is the new Inspector...she doesn't know what she thinks about him.

What happens next will blow your mind! Kerry continues to amaze his readers - the storylines and characters are true-to-life. It's a rollercoaster of thrills and suspense!

I'm looking forward to book 11 - "Nothing But Trouble"!

FOR RICHER, FOR POORER was a great addition to the Jessica Daniel series. There have been a series of homes broken into and each time, a large group of burglars wearing masks forces the homeowners to open safes and takes valuables. Later the stolen goods are donated to charities. Detective Jessica Daniel is working to solve the case and is also freshly grieving the loss of her partner Adam, who was killed in a car bombing meant for her at the end of the previous book. I like the way this series has top notch police procedural writing and also has interesting characters I enjoy following from book to book. 5/5 stars.

I picked this book up second hand and had it on the shelf for a week or so. As soon as I started reading it, I didn't want to put it down. I find Jessica so relatable aling with her interactions and relationships. The plot was clever and with a few twists and turns. I think I read it in 8 days, the quickest I've ever read a book! I didn't realise this was book 10 of 15 when I started reading and plan to get book 1 and read the rest in the correct order. Props to Kerry, he's a great crime writer.

I found the story and characters very lack lustre. This is the second book I have read in the series, which I only realised part way through. I got very tired of the same old jokes, over and over - the cop who sniffs toilet seats, the bad canteen tea and food, picturing your boss in their too short gym shorts.

I surprised myself by finishing the book, but really got very little from it and will avoid this series in future.

JD number 10. I think Jessica feels really lost in this book. She sleeps with Archie a few times but she has no feelings for him, she's seems to be on automatic pilot, just going through the motions with her work. It's another awesome read and it's not until the very end that you find out Adam is still alive, well I say alive but he's on a life support machine. I'm diving into book number 11 and I'm hoping Jessica finds some happiness.

This is the first book I have ready by Kerry Wilkinson. I really enjoyed this book. It is the tenth book in the Jessica Daniel series so I did feel that something was missing when previous events or situations were referred to but it did not take away from the story. It just made me want to look for other books in the series or by this particular author.

My first time reading a Kerry Wilkinson book, and although this is no.10 of a series you could jump in here with no issues as you eventually catch onto the gist of previous books as you read on.

This one started off very well and then as I read further in, I lost interest. It definitely picked up more towards the end with a final surprise so I wasn't too disappointed with this recommendation.

I didn't like it really. I don't like that Adam was killed in the last book and I don't like who Jessica has become. The plot of the burgleries and the trafficking was well written and thought out but I've really fallen out with these books after this one
