Well not much to this rather thin and small book. It starts and ends. So nothing much like I said just a simple tale which ends even before it begins.
People who don't read generally ask me my reasons for reading. Simply put I just love reading and so to that end I have made it my motto to just Keep on Reading. I love to read everything except for Self Help books but even those once in a while. I read almost all the genre but YA, Fantasy, Biographies are the most. My favorite series is, of course, Harry Potter but then there are many more books that I just adore. I have bookcases filled with books which are waiting to be read so can't stay and spend more time in this review, so remember I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
• Story about first day office experience • Failed to meet the expectations
“A fresh and opinionated recruit trying to fathom his way through the baffling arena of the working world.”
Office shocks is a comical chronicle of first day office experience of a new joiner. The writer failed to deliver the much needed humor in the story as promised. The novel ends up not giving a lasting impression in any form.
The story is about the first day of Aniket as a Junior Associate in Cairn & Company. His first day at office turns out to be shocking. As the day progresses hour-by-hour, he encounters a fickle-minded boss, flirtatious colleagues, an erudite family man with a secret life. The writer tried to present it in a funny way.
I did not connect with Aniket or with any of the characters in the book. The book belongs to one the regrettable reads. The writing style is much like an overburdened vocabulary infused in the sentences making it difficult for the readers to connect. In spite of being a short read, the book still becomes boring till the end. This novel is definitely not a recommended read.
I would like to start this book review with a question. ‘Do you remember your first day at office?’ I remember being a bit afraid, a bit happy, a bit worried and a bit of all other emotions possible. But I don’t remember being in a mood for humour. The author has tried to create a humorous story around ‘first day office experience’ and I must say that this is not a bad idea.
This is book is about what happens normally in any office. To those who want to know will be good book. Those who are in offices facing these regularly, then forget this.
