Pray Without Ceasing

This book was read as part of my daily devotions. Sometimes prayer flows, sometimes not. This book of prayers can jumpstart your prayers when you cannot seem to begin on your own.

Great book of prayers

This book helped me get my prayer life back on track. It has many prayers to cover many different needs. It is a great jumping off point to get your conversations with God started if you're not sure where to begin.

Prayers to the Father

As a cradle Catholic I have always struggled with prayers to God The Father. When I purchased this book I did so because I never seem to find the right words (prayers) at night to ask God for help, to tell Him I am sorry for offending Him as I did that day, to ask Him to watch over my family (especially the ones who are struggling) or to thank Him for gifts that He gave me throughout the day.

What I wasn't expecting were so many beautiful prayers to God the Father. This may sound odd but I have been taught so many prayers about Mary or how to ask for her intercession, especially with the rosary I feel I have a good way to communicate to Our Lady.

Prayers to Jesus are bountiful. After a 3 day silent retreat with the Jesuits, I began to communicate with Jesus almost as if I were speaking to a Big Brother, I hope that isn't offensive to some people. I still say my regular prayers but the retreat broadened my communication with Jesus.

However, throughout the New Testament we read about Jesus praying to His Father so often. His prayers over an entire evening or in the garden come to my mind. Knowing Jesus said so many prayers to his Father I knew there had to be others. Jesus taught us The Our Father that I say several times a day. But I always felt I was short changing my prayers or dialogue with God the Father. This caused me to view God the Father as the One who punished people like in the Old Testament especially when His chosen people went astray. My relationship with the Father was more based on fear and lacked the understanding I feel I have obtained about Jesus and Mary, hence my ease to pray more to Jesus and asking Mary for her intercession with her Son was so much more robust than my prayers to The Father.

I always felt I didn't pray enough to God the Father, the creator of the universe and everything in it. The amount of time I spent in prayer to The Father paled compared to my prayers to Jesus and asking Mary for her intercession and this has troubled me during all my life.

This book gave me significantly more prayers than just the Our Father and an Act of Contrition. I can't adequately express my thanks for being led to purchase this book.

Any Book That Helps You Feel Closer to God, is Great!

Don't ever take your freedoms or family for granted, for it can all disappear in the amount of time that it takes to draw a breath. I am so thankful for all that I still have, and I pray that someday my family will be reunited as a whole, cohesive, harmonious, loving unit. I pray for God to make it happen. May He grant my wish, and give me back all of my family, happier, healthier and stronger--Amen
