Kicked out of the Assassins Guild for breach of contract, hunted by its members for killing the Guild Leader, and half-hooked on illegal narcotics, COR SANDROS could use a break. She accepts a freelance job to eliminate KILA T'RAL's brother, JAREN. Kila claims her politically powerful brother has sexually abused her, and Cor has always been a sucker for helping the helpless. The plan doesn't include Cor falling in love with Kila, but as the pair struggles to reach Kila's homeworld, pursued by assassins from the Guild, Cor finds her inexplicable attraction to Kila growing stronger. There's a job to do, and personal involvement with her employer is an unwelcome distraction. Then again, so is sexual frustration.

2.5 Sci Fi story about an assassin running from her guild and rescuing a woman who wants to hire her to kill her twin brother... but there's a heap of convoluted mystery - and some magic/paranormal elements.

I didn't find the characters particularly likable, and they never actually got a chance to really get to know each other, so the 'romance' angle was lacking and seemed ridiculous once we did get there.
It does that thing I HATE where they have sex after serious injury, and/or semi-publicly with a family member in close proximity. It's embarrassing and not hot. Why do people think this is the case??? I'm so sick of seeing these two things play out.

There was a constant narrative of the MC being with a man physically before, and then fucking another dude in the story. It was sloppy and pointless. Wouldn't recommend.

The main character in this story is parentless, an only child, and a woman on a mission. She’s a badass, with a kickass take no prisoners attitude, making for a story packed full of action and adventure. She is also bisexual and the guy she is with when the story opens is mentioned a lot throughout the story for various reasons. I point this out early as I received the story as a lesbian romance, but I struggle to call it either of those.

Around the middle of the story there’s a huge plot twist that took me by surprise, and turned the story in another fast paced direction.

The descriptive writing was exceptional – every movement, room, sound, breeze, etc, described in vivid detail! I could picture the spacecrafts, hear the engines rumbling, knew the layout of every room! Every table, chair, etc… But, at about the 60% mark I found myself asking is there such a thing as too much description? I’m not going to get into a debate about that, but will suffice to say, readers who love an abundance of detail will certainly fall in love with the story telling within the 300+ pages of Vicious Circle.

If I was to rate this story for how well polished it is, it’d get 5000 stars hands down. I’m a reader who tends to notice typos more than others, and I don’t recall a single one, almost unheard of in the age of e-books!

However for me as a reader to fall in love with a story, I need to fall in love with the characters, or at the very least become invested in them. They were so busy fighting their crusade, I felt no emotional attachment, and any hint of romance faded to the background, until at least the 80% mark.

With all the descriptive writing I became excited when the ladies finally bedded down together… only to be disappointed when what began also ended in the time it took a guy to leave the cave, pee, and then return! I realize that’s on me, and again had I not read this as a lesbian romance I wouldn’t have even commented about the fact.

I’d recommend this story to readers who enjoy descriptive, action packed, sci-fi stories, regardless of character gender or sexual orientation.

Elle told me her book was similar to Xena in space, so right away, that intrigued me to read it since I'm a Xena fan. Her book doesn't disappoint -- it's a good read. My only complaint is that it isn't long enough.

I enjoyed this book. It was a cute, fun read. I only gave 3 stars because I found it a little predictable.

I was sent this book by Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an honest review.

Can I say I found this novel difficult to categorize, thought it included lesbian romance but not sure it fits into that category. It is however a really fast paced, at times exciting at other times thought provoking novel.

At all times this novel is superbly written, the brilliant detail of events, characters and settings takes the reader into the actual realms of the novel, you see the people you smell the surroundings, everything is vividly detailed making it totally believable.

Being written in the first person gives this novel a very edgy feel. The sci fi terms give it reality.

So why did I not award this novel 5 stars? Despite everything I could not relate to the lead character. The romantic interlude came secondary to everything else and although two women were involved in the sojourn a man makes an entry at a critical stage! I found the mystic elements of the novel heavy going in places and at times detracting from the action.

However nothing can detract from a scintillating tale which is beautifully crafted.

I received an ARC of this book from Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an honest review.
This book just seemed to have everything, and it all came together perfectly. The world-building was good and consistent. The characters were interesting with flaws and imperfections that they tried to work on and better. The pace was fast, each scene building to the next, heightening the tension and making me want to turn the pages faster and faster. Just a greatly enjoyable read. I believe this is book one, since the person behind the attacks on the Chosen one was never discovered. And if so, I greatly look forward to the next book in the series.
I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

Heart-beatingly Fast, Action-Packed SciFi F/F

Cor is an assassin, or a former Assassin. With the Guild pursuing her she takes on a job. Maybe for the right reasons, maybe for the wrong reasons. What you get is a very fast-paced story told in first person and a romance with a very likable damsel in distress who becomes the object of Cor's affection. This is part action, part SciFi and part f/f romance. All parts together make a good story for a 4.5 star tale.
