Well written main text, almost poetic. I enjoyed the illustrations, too. Plentiful back matter, from which I learned one concerning fact - Catholicism is the official national religion. I hope that doesn't mean too much bad stuff for atheists, Muslims, etc.

Mango Trees by Tae-Yeon Kim is a wonderful nonfiction picture book about the Philippines. I love that Kim highlights trees to introduce to the readers the Philippine culture. Unique, interesting, and informative. The six pages of back matter includes more about the uses of trees, the Philippine language, the National flag, animals, food, demographics, and a map of the islands.
