My favourite JoJo lightnovel so far. Had never heard of 乙一 but apparently Maijo likes his stuff and that's all I needed to know to be sure it would be good. Again it's centered around OCs and a plot of revenge served cold. There's a lot of fun moments and enjoyable quotes, some broken 4th wall moments, we get to see the gang use their Stands in more daily situations, Okuyasu becomes a badass, overall a lovely, but sometimes despairing, tale.
Only downside was really the couple typos in the translation, I guess that's to be expected of a one-man team.

(SPOILERS AHEAD but mostly trivial ones)
This book is definitely one of the best reads I've had. Bravo to the author. I'm looking forward to reading his another work called, 'Summer, Fireworks and My Corpse.' Thanks to the Kewl0210 who had also played his part in translating the Japanese text to English. Even a person who hasn't seen/read JoJo can read this masterpiece (STILL I ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO READ JOJO). Perhaps it's exaggerated to call this book a 'masterpiece'. But throughout the whole story, I questioned myself a lot about life and the meaning of it. For what purpose were we born? So many questions like this kept piling up inside my mind. The text is very philosophical itself along with some religious messages. I opted to hate the main character, Takuma, not because he was the worst character but because he was a very sinful and unlikeable yet interesting individual. He was definitely a complex character though I clearly hated his view of life. Yet I don't blame that poor boy. On the other hand, I really liked Akari and her purpose in life. Chiho is very intriguing as well. Anyhow, I felt happy that the author had also implored Josuke's character (he's my fav JoJo after all). These paragraphs perfectly described his personality:-

"Jousuke-kun's Stand had a human form like a medieval knight. Its name was
Crazy Diamond. There was nothing its power could not destroy. One hit from those fists
could turn a concrete wall to dust in an instant. Not only that, but it also had the ability to
repair broken things. Broken bones, cuts; it could fix them all instantly.

I've gotta say, it's pretty mysterious how those two seemingly-opposite abilities of
destruction and regeneration can coexist like that. Maybe Jousuke-kun himself has two
sides to him like that. Now that I think about it, Jousuke-kun has definitely seemed like
he's had two personalities at times. While at one moment he might give a friendly
impression, if somebody makes fun of his hair he'll be mercilessly beating up the person
the next moment.

I noticed that at some point, the kids had started crowding around the window
and looking in. Their eyes were focusing on Jousuke's hair for the most part. I could
only hope they wouldn't point and say anything weird about it. Jousuke-kun made a
goofy face and shouted 'WAAH!' surprising the kids. The kids laughed as they scattered
away from the window."

I couldn't ask for more. :') Also, the fact that Okuyasu got himself a solo fight was amazing. In the manga, his character was very underused. Takuma seriously made me furious when he provoked poor Okuyasu but it was only for the sake of provoking. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed reading the light novel. The constantly switching point of views also really helped me to savour this reading experience. I hope one day, I'll find my passion and meaning in life too.

This is my very first JoJo stories.
So I knew NOTHING about “Stand” (is that how they’re spelt?) and was startled when one of the characters (I think it was Kishida... I’m guessing he’s one of the main characters in other stories??? Since I’ve seen book titles with his name on it?) started “reading” a cat like a book.

Moreover, since I knew nothing about the main (?) story arc, I didn’t know (and still don’t know) who Jojo is... and simply assumed that the main villain Takuma Hasumi was the main character. Which he was, in THIS book.
I quite liked him, and wanted him to survive and get the revenge.
Josuke (or whatever his name was... the guy with funny hair... oh wait is THAT Jojo???) and other gangs were just annoying to me, and I just wanted them to disappear somewhere.
I believe people who know Jojo’s story well won’t feel this way about them. Or about the guy who found the bloody cat at the beginning of the book. (What WAS his name...??)

What else.... oh yeah, the story was a typical Otsu Ichi style, as in, very well plotted but with slightly bad aftertaste.
Because of above reasons, and the fact that I’m not a huge fan of Jojo’s artwork (there were several small artwork throughout the book, which I don’t appreciate. I don’t like drawings of a characters in a book.) the book itself is a 3star for me. But the book design is so pretty that I think I might get a copy for myself if I found them at the bookstore, so I’ll add anther star. Hence 4 stars.

Reason I chose to read this book when I don’t even know anything about the Jojo’s bizarre adventures: found it on my friend’s bookshelf (Mr.310) and was told that it was “pretty good”.

What did I just read? I don't even know where to start this review...

This is the first time I see a book where the narration change with the POV. Koichi uses first person POV, the others use third person POV. I really didn't care for that choice.

The book started as an interesting mystery; A murder, a random guy with a miserable life who can't forget anything, and a woman stuck between buildings years before the story takes place, all being linked together. I was really invested in it.
But around half the story there's no more mystery for the reader.

So, instead of reading a murder mystery, I was reading an edgy teen being edgy, a woman being forced to live in inhumane conditions for the entire length of the book, and some occasional appearances of the arc 4 characters, I almost forgot it was supposed to be a Jojo book for a second.

I give a pass on the fight against the antagonist being ridiculous given he was never a fighter.
I give less of a pass on a character being thankful her half brother impregnated her.
without telling her they were related.

I should've start with the good maybe. The mystery, while it lasted, was compelling. The Duwang Gang personnalities was really well done. Even the choice of having Koichi be a POV character using first person was really on point for the 4th arc. It's a real pitty we don't see more of them because they were really well done. The fight scenes, especially with Okuyasu, were really well written and in the spirit of Jojo.

disclaimer. I could not find the version of the book that I wanted to on GoodReads.com so please don't mind the book cover as the one I will be writing a review on is "part 3 of JoJo's bizarre adventure star dust crusaders".
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders by Hirohiko Araki is an action-packed and thrilling manga that follows Jotaro Kujo and his group of companions as they journey across the globe to defeat the evil vampire Dio. This part introduces Stands, supernatural abilities that add a creative twist to battles. The story is filled with bizarre enemies, intense fights, and quirky humor, all paired with Araki’s unique art style. It's a fun and adventurous read for fans of over-the-top action and unforgettable characters.

Wow!

Its no secret that I love JoJo's maybe a bit too much. I was really excited to read this (and the other light novels) after finishing Part 8 and needing more JoJo's.

Diamond is Unbreakable is my favorite part next to Stone Ocean so I was stoked to come back to THIS Morioh that feels so much different from the one in JoJolion. This novel is actually a ton of fun. It might be me being exited to see Josuke and Okuyasu again or my never ending love to Rohan Kishibe but this was fun. I love the slice-of-life vibe that Part 4 and this novel has. And again a fun murderer.

This is a lot of fun. If you like JJBA, you need to read this.

5 estrellas.

The book was so incredible I had to read two times to believe it.

My review on "The book 〜 Jojo's bizarre adventure 4th another day"

Written by 乙一 (Otsuichi)

TO GIVE SOME BACKGROUND:
Otsuichi's journey to publishing this book was a long and hard one, he had the opportunity to write a novel about the story that made him become written into first place. Who would have thought it would take him 5 years to write.
He wrote over 2000 pages, all of them were scrapped, it would take him so much time he lost his main source of income, writing. Because during the 5 years it took him to write this novel he didn't release anything.
The dude put his love for Jojo's over his livelihood
He started writing in 2002 and finally published it in 2007.
He wrote a book about Jojo's part 4, in a way anyone could read it, even if you don't know what a "JOJO" is you and anyone can read this book

The sheer dedication he put into writing this book is admirable

THE STORY (AT LEAST READ THIS):
There are 3 main plot lines that in some way have to do with each other at the end.

-A guy who remembers everything he has seen heard smelled and felt during his lifetime.
One day he gets this bizarre book out of nowhere
He describes the book as having a leather-like cover, having the size of a tankobon volume, being as thick as a 380 pages long book (he is describing the book you are reading right now) he opens a page and reads what you the reader just read a few pages ago.

-A woman who catches his lover committing fraud over construction works. She finds millions of Yen hidden into her partner's room. When she confronts him she discovers something horrible.
From one thing or another, the woman has to live 500(ish) days stuck between a building without asking for help.

-A woman is found dead in the middle of her living room. She died from a traffic accident.
Inside her home, no marks were found showing signs of a car coming or that she dragged herself along from the outside.
she died from a traffic accident without leaving the house or a car coming in.

And all of these stories have something to do with one another.

HOW DIFFICULT WAS IT READING THE BOOK?(in Japanese):
very difficult, I found the slice of life chapters of the book easy to read but towards the end, there is a lot of action that I couldn't understand, I would say I understood about 87% of the book on my first readthrough.
That's one of my reasons for reading this book two times, from what I understood the first time it was excellent so excellent I had to read it again to understand every little piece of it.
After my second read trough, my opinion of the book went from EXCELLENT to MARVELOUS.

HOW ENTRETAINIG WAS IT?:
It's one of the most enjoyable pieces of literature I have had the pleasure of reading.
This book covers every emotion a human being can feel while making it a pleasure to read.
The whole time I read this book I couldn't stop grinning.

THE VERDICT:
In short, this book is a 15/10.

In long:
I still can't believe this book, almost every page left me dumbfounded, its now one of my favorite books ever (just behind Kizumonogatari and Zaregoto vol 2).
If you ever have the opportunity of reading this masterpiece please go ahead, don't think twice about it.
Even if you have never read Jojo or even heard about it, you can read it and still get to love it.

This book is an example of sheer dedication and love for writing.

The amount of time and effort it took Otsuichi to write this book really was worth it.

5 years + 2000 scraped pages + love for Jojo + Otsuichi = one of the greatest books out there.

If this book gets translated someday I'm sure it will be a hit, and people won't stop talking about how great it is.
We need an English-speaking editorial to pick this book up and doing the incredible thing of giving more people the pleasure of reading this masterpiece.

And finally:
Please support the author by buying the book, even if you can't read it you may be helping the possibilities of "The book" coming to the west.
