These novelisations of the popular TV series really don't hold up on their own. I've flipped through a few of the books now, and they are basically just scene-by-scene rewrites of what happened on the screen. You're expected to go in knowing exactly who all the characters are (there's no background or description given whatsoever), and each scene is only a couple of paragraphs long.

A similar (and now old!) series that was much better-done - at the same length - were the Satin Slippers books.

I'm sure these were a hit with the target audience, but as someone who's only seen a random Dance Academy episode here and there, they simply do not work for me.
