Matthew Thomas cooked up the whole idea of the Mail Order Angels, but when his own angel appears in the form of Sophia Webster, at first his feet get colder than a Wyoming blizzard. Sophia tries to make a new start in Wyoming by staying true to her word and helping Matthew establish the newspaper, but come spring, it’s back East for her--unless Matthew’s change of heart can convince her otherwise
Lynette Sowell is an award-winning author with New England roots, but she makes her home on the doorstep of the Texas Hill Country with her husband and a herd of five cats. When she’s not writing, she edits medical reports and chases down stories for the local newspaper.
I enjoyed this story, but it was missing a few things for me. Their feelings were terribly missing, onesided, or they spoke about them to their friend but not each other. But I appreciated the close friendships Matt had with Jake and Sophia had with Becky. My favorite part of the story was their day trip to Devil's Tower.
For her security, a place without the constant censure; she got no reply from Mr Thomas, that she was coming. Seeing the anticipation on Becky, the joys of youth, as they got there to be mail order brides. He hesitate to get married, and to having her write articles for his paper. She will invest in the paper, then he couldn't say no. He had dreams of getting the town to grow. She had the vision to be productive, and to contribute to this growing town. Delightful story of two middle age people, bumping heads, will love come also.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It was a little different twist on the Mail Order Bride stories that made it interesting. I enjoy the author's writing style, but was frustrated in a few places with major grammatical errors. I believe I've read other stories by this author and didn't see this, so something happened along the way.
I really tried to finish reading this book, but there were a lot of typos and missing words. I am not sure if it was the way it was uploaded or what. If this book was re-edited, I would read it again. I know how hard authors work to get their babies out to readers.
A sweet novella for the historical reader. Set around Christmas, it is about a mail order bride and a man who isn't so sure. There are some grammatical errors and spelling mistakes as others have mentioned, and the characters were rather flat, but it was a quick read and not too bad. Fans of ms stowell or of historical Christmas romance will likely enjoy.
Sophia comes to Angel Vale with other women who are to be mail order brides. Being that she was married before and is older, she questions her marrying Matt. Matt seems more interested in the printing press that Sophia brought along than in her. Being that they are older, the possibility of children may be out of the question. Will their marriage take place? A short little read.
Good story of mail order brides. Sophia is older than the other brides coming to Angel Vale, Wyoming and Matt is older than the other men sending for brides. Can Matt overcome his past experiences with his mother to accept Sophia?
This was a nice, clean, sweet Christmas story. Just the kind you want for Christmas! Again, keeping with the Mail order bride theme, which I love. I liked the main characters in this one - they had spunk!
