Everyone loves an Alaska man, especially when he's the hometown hero….
The victim of a relentless stalker, Las Vegas burlesque dancer Tawney O'Hara leaves her life behind, heading home to the small Alaska town that once shunned her and her family. She's learned the hard way that she can't trust anyone, including the police. The last thing she wants or needs is a man in her life.
After being tortured and nearly killed while working undercover, Rick Tabor quit his dangerous job as an undercover police detective in Seattle and has now taken a job as a bartender in his home town of Seward, Alaska. Needing the slower pace, the room to breathe, he's caught off guard when Tawney O'Hara returns to town. Tawney, the wildest girl in his class at school, the girl he almost married. Right away Rick realizes that Tawney doesn’t fit in this town and he begins to suspect there's more to her story than the need to be with her family.
But Rick has no idea just how much trouble Tawney is in. And Tawney is afraid to trust anyone, especially the ex-police officer who once stole her heart, then left her at the altar. Yet, the more they are together, the more they can't deny the attraction between them. But it's not until they are put in jeopardy that Rick and Tawney realize they must trust each other or be torn apart forever.

This book is full of action, mystery, and love. Tawney was left at the altar and couldn't stay in town. She moved to Vegas to make something of herself not realizing how lonely she would be. While in Vegas Tawney ended getting the attention of a dangerous man that she wanted nothing to do with. She ran from Vegas to her hometown. What she didn't expect was to come face to face with Rick, the one man that broke her heart. Rick hasn't had an easy life. He moved to Seattle and got into law enforcement. Rick didn't expect to lose so much of himself during the job. He decided to move back home and get himself together. When mysterious packages show up at Tawney's cottage Rick is there for her. They begin to spend more time together and sparks begin to fly. Will Tawney be able to trust her heart and soul to Rick after he left her at the altar?
Hometown Hero is my first book by Joleen James, but not my last. Ms. James has given us a book that is well-written and filled with outstanding characters. Tawney flees Vegas to escape her mobster stalker. Rick, a cop, is back home in Alaska after being shot in the line of duty. Tawney and Rick's story is a second chance romance with plenty of drama, humor, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading Hometown Hero and look forward to reading more from Joleen James in the future. Hometown Hero is book 2 of the Hometown Alaska Men Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Tawney has a stalker, even doors, and friends with the police will keep him out of her life. The ring box on her bed was the last straw, for her, she was not safe. Back to Alaska, who would she meet at the first, was Rick, he left her at the alter. What does that say about the men in her life. For him, a reminder of the coward he had been. With her working aa a dancer in the bar, his role as bartender just got tougher. Older now, could they get to know more about one another their dreams. Family, weddings, and love, made this a good book to read, as well as the series.
The story of Rick and Tawney and their life baggage makes this more believable. Tawney drives home to family in Alaska to escape a stalker in Las Vegas while Rick returns to Alaska to heal from a horrible take down in Seattle where he was a policeman working undercover. The two have prior history but are thrown together working in the same bar. Events happen to clear their past while they learn to trust each other again. Soon they fall in love. Can they overcome the obstacles in their way to true happiness? Read it and enjoy!
Good but not as good as the first. Rick and Tawney were to be wedded at the age of 18 but Rick got cold feet and left Tawney at the alter. He became a cop in Seattle, while Tawney became a showgirl in Vegas. Both are back in Seward Alaska with baggage that they kept from others. Not really sure how many years past since they last saw each other. Tawney ‘s big sister Star is about to be married, but how long will it be before their pasts come to dredge up old emotions.
I received this book free from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing an honest review. Tawney is a Las Vegas dancer with a mob stalker. She needs to disappear and returns to her hometown in Alaska where three of her sisters still live and unknown to her the man that left her standing at the alter years ago.
This is a well written book and I encourage everyone to get this one. It is worth your time and effort. This was a quick easy read. Please, don't over look this one. This is the first Joleen James book I have read but it will not be the last. She may become one of my go to authors. Check it out!!!!
Joleen James writes romance in a realistic believable way. The relationships are healthy. And I believe she writes characters that should inspire readers to value themselves, and have high standards when it comes to deal life relationships. Every time I finish reading one of Joleen James' books, I feel happy and satisfied.
I enjoyed Book 1 and this book. I plan to read the next book in this series. Surprise turns throughout the book.. I recommend anyone who likes mysteries to read this.
Contemporary coming home as an adult to start a new life plot line set in a small Alaska town. Is there any really big cities in Alaska? I guess all stories set there are going to be in the 'small town' category. Tawney O'Hara is fleeing Las Vegas and her dancing career after a staulker scares her. She is home starting a new life when she meets the new barman, Rick Tabor who happens to be her neighbor as well. Tawney has a lot of history in her small town, but that doesn't keep her safe when someone starts stalking her again. There is a mystery of stalking as well as some violence. This was a quick read on the train and not too scary. 207 pages and kindle freebie 2 stars
This was an okay book. Tawney returns to Alaska to escape a stalker. Rick returns to Alaska to escape someone's death. They reunite and it goes from there. My problem with this book:I have read the 1st book in this series, and thought I would give this one a try. I didn't like it nearly as much.
