The homecoming was short lived. Some might conclude that four ships, three women and an unruly teenage daughter would constitute a happy ending. But dangerous forces still move in circles around Benjamin, his family and friends. Word had arrived foretelling the prospects for peace and a first job for the fledgling Reaper Inc. Family in tow, locked and loaded, they leave for parts unknown to aid in securing peace and safety for the people of the Colonial Alliance. But when someone is out to kill you or eat you, making it there alive might be all you could hope for.

Dire need of an editor or beta readers

So many grammatical mistakes. That's really the only reason I removed the stars, but there seemed to be more than the previous book.

Aside from that, an excellent entry in the Benjamin Jamison Chronicles. The story continues on with twists, turns, sadness, and redemption. This story is very much in the same vein as the previous: unstoppable MC that enemies fear, allies respect, and women want. I enjoy this series because it is fantastical; it is not how things would likely turn out but it is certainly fun. I almost wish politicians could be dealt with in the manner that Reaper handles them.

I read another review that didn't like that Reaper could beat anyone. That every species of woman wanted to lie with Reaper. That Reaper handled things the blunt way that he did. This story is no different and I enjoy it despite how others feel. I just wish they're, were, fewer grammatical mistakes its distracting (done on purpose to emphasize).

Needs editing

This could have been a really good book, but the poor sentence structure, grammar, and lack of punctuation simply ruined it. I was just hoping that problem had been corrected after the first book, but I think it's actually worse.

Good read

I really enjoyed reading this book, it had a good storyline and plenty of action to go with it . Poor Ben just can't get a break.

Good sequel with an expansion of the universe

Ben is still amazing, and the new folks are impressed as well they should be after he stepped around all social convention.

Better Than the First Benjamin Jamison (and it was great)

Highly Recommended: a combination of space opera genres; dynastic, military, unlikely romance, one-man-against-the-universe, exploration, meeting different races, you name it!

I liked this even better than the first book. Wright has tied some of the story lines together, but not so tightly that we can predict a possible outcome. However, the story is more understandable. Our protagonist, although surviving many close calls in battle, seems just as stubborn as he started, if not more so.

SPOILER: "Reaper" (who we know IS Benjamin), is now answering to his own name by the end of this volume. For the rest of the story, you will just have to read the series. Like ALL space opera heroes, Reaper is the luckiest human in the universe...but not everyone is happy...

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: there is some sexual content, but handled well, by alliteration for the most part.

As Ben and his crew continue to build their company, they are visited by the Marines and Military Intelligence. The Marines to tell them of a peace conference, Military Intelligence to get his ship. In typical Ben style, he threatens to leave dead bodies in his wake if Military Intelligence continues on it's path. Then while leaving his home planet for the peace conference, a group of ships, sent by Military Intelligence tries to stop them and another ship they are trying to take the senior crew prisoner and wipe the ships logs so what they know will not get beyond Military Intelligence. After the battle, both ships escape and Ben and his crew continue on to the peace conference.

While at the peace conference Ben becomes entwined in his own government military intelligence desire to keep secrets, a race that is currently their enemy but is trying for peace and a rogue that has captured Ben who is put in an arena to fight or die.

They hope is for peace, but people are still dying and Ben is beginning to wonder if himself or his create will survive.

Nicely expanded the storyline

Not sure how to explain what happened in this book. Even though it was a good follow up to the first in the series (which was outstanding), it seemed almost as though this was a transitional book. The singular purpose seems to have been to open the possible story arcs to greatly expand the universe. To follow later you will need to read this one, and it is worth reading, I just wish a few things had been different. That's my opinion, for what it's worth.

Amazing book series. Please continue it!

In all honesty this is most likely the best science future fiction book (series) I have read in over a year and I average a book a day. This series of two books took me 4 days and I enjoyed every second.
It has romance, heartbreak, amazing action and intrigue that rivals the best authors out there historically and presently.
All I will say (I hate spoilers) is you will not be disappointed and will be as I am begging for another!

Not really the best of the two books, this one does hit you for a ton of bricks and then doesn't let you up. The end might leave you asking "what just happened...."That is my only problem with the book. It just seemed that thinks went to pat after the loss you have to swallow.
That said I will still read the next book if there is one. And don't let my review put you off this book, always remember in any series there will be that one book that is not everyone's favorite.

Not as well-written as the first book in the series. This book was a letdown after the very good first Benjamin Jamison title. The main character continually does and says the wrong things at the wrong time and gets away with it. That makes many of the situations feel contrived. Also, he spends a lot of the book angry at anyone or anything and that emotion gets old after a few pages. I'll give this series one more chance.

This was a great action/adventure science fiction novel. It is the continued adventures is Benjamin Jamison and it is wild and wooly with a breakneck pace. The only objection I have is the cliff hanger ending. I hate having to wait to find out what happened and this book just came out so I have to wait for the next to be written.

First time I gave it a 1 star, now a 4

I was sooo mad the first time I read the book, because Andrea was killed and how it ruined Ben. The second time much better, but Ben is still not good. For once I believe the author ruined Ben. Book three better be good.

Superior!

I could not put it down. If you read the first book, you will not be disappointed with the second. I read the first one 3 times and expect to do the same again. Im not sure how you could top it. Thank you.

The beat goes on

As in the first book reaper is the reluctant good guy. He really wants to get reaper Inc. Off the ground ,but settling problems in the universe keep getting in the way. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Dan

Great continuation of the story

The story follows right after the previous book. The story dose not fa!low a predictable path, some parts are downright sad. But like the first book surprise's await one a chapter at a time. I await the next book.

A guilty pleasure

Avery good read from beginning to end. Couldn't put the book down. There are some annoying errors in grammar, but on the whole it was hard to put the book down.

3.7 stars. Much better than the first one. Look forward to seeing if the trend continues. I thoroughly enjoyed the antics when the hero was intentionally antagonizing those around him.

Good read

I read a lot and this
Is the first book in a while that I didn't want to put down but the author needs to get someone to proof read his work and fix the grammar errors

Heartache, Action, Devotion

Ben experiences extreme loss, goes into a dangerous funk, and strikes out at everyone including his friends. For reasons he can't understand, many of his friends withdraw from him as well. However, he gains love and devotion from recently met aliens. His abrupt, forceful manner helps to win a peace, solve some problems and start others. Will Ben come to terms with his loss and reconcile with the women who love him? Is Andrea truly gone for good? I look forward to the next book.

After reading the first book I felt a bit mean giving only one star so I decided to give a chance to the second book in the series.
I some ways this is a better narrative, it is less just a collection of incidents and more a coherent story. Unfortunately the characters haven’t really improved, it’s still a group of petulant children making strange decisions and having the occasional tantrum.
