Passion-Filled Fairy Tales #3

Cinders and Ash: A Cinderella Story

Rate this book
Getting to happily ever after has never been so sexy or so much fun. Sparks fly in this retelling of the classic fairy tale Cinderella.

Ella wants nothing more than to leave her wicked stepmother and spoiled stepsisters behind. Only, she needs money to get away. When Ella's stepmother, Lady Kenna, learns Ella has been secretly helping out the apothecary for a few pence, the evil woman gets her stepdaughter fired, and takes all of Ella's hard earned money.

Devastated and desperate, Ella decides to try the job a friend told her about: go to the castle to provide "companionship" to a visiting noble.

Ash is a prince confined to a castle. The queen is convinced magic fairies are real and are out to do her son harm. That doesn't stop the young prince from having companionship delivered. When a beautiful maiden is brought to him one evening, he's completely intrigued. By her beauty, by her demeanor, by the fact that she'll only give her name as Cinders.

In this version of Cinderella retold, Cinders & Ash heat things up as they search for their happily ever after.

This is the third fairy tale retold by Rosetta Bloom. It brings us the story of Ella who has been living with her evil stepmother and stepsisters for the last 9 years. She wants to escape them and has been saving money but her vicious stepmother takes the money and punishes Ella severely. Her friend Faye suggests to sell her body to a lowly relative of the King in the castle. Ella introduces herself as Cinders to Ash. She doesn’t know Ash is in fact the sheltered Prince. Ella feels ashamed, dirty and unhappy about whoring herself. Ash finds out that Cinders is amazing in drawing and buys her services to make a portrait because he’s starting to get feelings for Cinders and wants to keep seeing her. But will they get their HEA? … That’s all I’ll be telling about the story

This is not a version to read to your children because it’s an erotic retelling ;) I may be a grownup but I still love fairy tales … My favourite is Beauty and the Beast but Cinderella is in the top too.

I liked this retelling but I didn’t love it. I can’t explain what made me like it instead of love… But I did enjoy it!

Something I really didn’t like is the cover. But I have learned by now that the cover doesn’t say anything about the story.

I loved the premise of this book - fairy tale retellings are the best and I love Cinderella. This was a really fun, sexy take on it and while I wasn't crazy about the writing style, I loved 'Cinders' and 'Ash'. Both characters were beautiful and flawed, and their chemistry was believable. This is definitely worth the read, especially if you like fairy tales!

This is what a fairy-tale retelling should be! It has elements of the original tale, but yet plenty of new things creating a completely new story that recalls the original. It is romantic, and sexy, and magical, with a charming hero, and strong heroine (though still innocent). It does have the ball and beautiful dresses and possibly even a fairy who spins some magic at opportune times as well as plenty of scenes where the prince romances Cinderella.

Cinders & Ash: A Cinderella Story by Rosetta Bloom

Cinders & Ash is double the length of Ms. Bloom’s tales so far. The result is a well told story with well-defined characters and a plot of conspiracy against the throne. Prince John Ashton learns that prophecies and fairies should not be taken lightly. He has led a very sheltered life because his mother is a believer and convinced the prophecy and fairies are real.

Ella is a wise young lady who has only one true friend, Faye. An orphan whose life had been full of tough breaks, Faye and Ella bonded over shared miseries and became fast friends. Ella realized she was better off than Faye, but she knew she could trust her. Ella needs money and fast so she can run far enough away that her step-mother will not come looking for her. She decided that being a “companion” to a visiting noble was not too low to sink to get enough money to start a new life. She didn’t plan to develop feelings for this noble. She also didn’t realize who this mystery man was. Ella also didn’t intend to get kidnapped. She didn’t see who sneaked up behind her and put that foul smelling rag over her nose and mouth.

Ash thought he had the perfect plan to help Cinders out of her dilemma and get her out of her step-mothers house, until she disappears. Now he is going to need the luck from fairies, and much more, to rescue Cinders and figure out what is going on with her kidnappers. Could the Prince possibly be their real target and why? The conspirator thinks they have it all figured out.

I enjoyed the scenery around the Crystal Pond, I thought this was a great addition to the story, as well as the story behind it. I also enjoyed the way Ms. Bloom brought in the pumpkin carriage and mice without using magic! Very clever and well done.

FYI: Cinders & Ash is book 3 in the Passion-Filled Fairy Tales series. This is an erotic romance so there are graphic scenes, if that offends you then you should find another story. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.** January 25, 2016

I couldn't wait to read this book! Especially as Cinderella is really popular in my house at the moment!
Ella is living with her stepmother and stepsisters. She has been providing drawings to a man in town, earning her some money. She plans to use this money to escape. Unfortunately her plan goes south and her stepmother finds out. This leaves Ella with no job and all her money taken. After a whipping from Lady Kenna, (her stepmother) she goes in search of money by doing something she never wanted to do. This is how she meets Ash.
They had a good connection right away. There romance starts in an unconventional way. The story has plots that are similar to the original fairytale but vamped up.
Ella and Ash build up a good relationship over the next few weeks. There are magical elements but this isn't the main part of the story. It adds to it and ties into the original.
The author did a fantastic job of using a fairytale, but not repeating the story the same as the original. There is enough to recognise the original with lots of differences. I've never read a reworking before but I'm definitely looking out for more now.
I loved the epilogue! I won't go into too much detail because it will spoil the book! I fully recommend this book. What are you waiting for? go and read it :)

I obtained a copy of the book through the author hear on good reads.

I found this to be a refreshing version of Cinderella.
With a mix of sweet and saucy. The author kept the bases of the story close to our our childhood tale yet spiced it up for the adult

I found this a refreshing adult version is Cinderella.
The introduction of Cinder and Ash made the naughty in my take notice. I thought it was leading to a more risque novel but it did not go that far. It had some sweet moment yet offered up enough spice to keep m attention.
As an adult I loved the romance that built between are main characters along with Cinderella's best friend and a different take on the fairy godmother.
It was a different type of book for me and I thoroughly enjoyed the change of pace. I would love more.

Cinders and ash

It took me awhile but the story was actually good...I think when you read history lot of the girls were not virgins on their wedding night and the kingdom was always with heirs fighting for the thrown...it actually made more since....would not recommend to children as the book is x rated.

Interesting take

I enjoyed the story, but didn't like the prostitute part. The story was well developed and followed the children's fairy tale pretty well. The add ins explain a lot but I still like believing in magic and true love.

Truly not a bad book with the same horrible step-mother. There is an interesting twist on the story with a grown up and desperate Cinderella and the Prince's own evil relatives.

Interesting Retelling of the Cinderella Fairy Tale

This was an interesting take on the Cinderella fairy tale that was almost a cross between the classic story and "Ever After", the Cinderella movie that starred Drew Barrymore (If you've never watched it, I can highly recommend it!). However, unlike the former two tales, this one also included definite sexual content! After the first couple of times, I just skimmed through subsequent events, of which there were altogether too many for my taste, which accounts for my 4 star rating rather than a 5 star ratting.

This story starts with Ella needing to earn enough money to run away from her cruel stepmother. Her friend suggests that she try earning extra money by having sex with a man (boy) whom she believes is a cousin to the prince. She does this for the first time the same evening after she was beaten by her stepmother (and you'll have to read the book to discover why). She doesn't realize that the person she's with is actually the prince. She introduces herself as Cinders and he introduces himself as Ash. She doesn't discover that he's the prince until the waning chapters of the book.

I enjoyed this take on the fairy tale and it had some different plot twists to it and some extras with regard to the locale that I've not come across before. I guess my only complaint is the overuse of sex in the story and the apparent confusion between lust and love by many of today's authors. Sex is just sex; love is something altogether different and it would be nice if it could be portrayed without the immediate sex between the 2 protagonists. Even with the sex scenes, I would still recommend this book to any who enjoy retold fairy tales.

Sweet and enchanting with a generous dose of sensual spice.

I've always been drawn to fairy tales retellings, so I immediately jumped at the chance to read this version of Cinderella. Not only is it written with charm and care for the characters, but it also enhances the plot with well-developed backgrounds for the couple, a lurking danger that any fairy tale should have and a passionate yet romantic relationship that starts as quite unconventional.

I really liked the way the prince and Ella meet. Their circumstances may be illicit, but they open up interesting and sexy ways for them to explore each other. Also, it was very endearing to see Ella struggle between freedom and desire. She's a character I cherished. Strong, feminine, good and brave, with talents and dreams of her own.

And though the prince was carefree in his dalliances with women, he still had some weights on his shoulders, and after all, a good heart too. The intimate scenes are nicely and passionately detailed, and the dialogues reflect how the couple's relationship deepens.

Sometimes certain things became a bit repetitive about facts that were already established such as Ella's situation at home. Besides that, I enjoyed everything about this story. It's clear that the author keeps parallelisms with the original fairy tale we all love, yet she spins the basics to draw some surprises and tension that excel the classic structure. A little magic and a fairy twist wrap up a sweet and sexy story that I very much enjoyed.

I was given this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review...

Okay, so this is the grown up real live erotic fairy tale version of Cinderella...this is not the bedtime version for the kiddies. All of the elements are there, wicked stepmother, bratty stepsister, One kinda nice one. Diners/Ella meets Ash not knowing that he is really the Prince, they become friends before they boomers lovers. Her best friends sends her to the castle to the prince as a way to make money after evil stepmother finds her stash of money she had hidden she earned drawing for the apothecary. She needs to escape and a night at the castle promises to replace all that was lost but when the prince sees her whipped back, he get a healing balm and has her come back when she's healed. When he finds out about her artistic talent he makes her a deal. Throw in some magic and faeries, some evil plots, a betrayal or two and there you go! Everyone loves a fairy tale....

Well it's not my normal type of story that I would read but saying that for those who want "adult" fairy tails then it's for you.

Now I found it was a mash up of a few fairy tales with the base of Cinderella. At times I found it deviated a bit to far off the train of though for the author but that's where it was further embellish to make it steamy. I really would have liked to see a bit more story after he saved her and seen what the reaction of his parents her and even the wedding ( I'm just a sap for a good wedding) before it jumps to the epilogue

I would recommend this series to those who like this type of book but to me it's not my normal read but a good breakup the funk of the normal

My honest review of this book is that I never realized how much of the Cinderella story was not included in the fairy tale version.

I loved this novel and realize I need to read all of Ms. Bloom's retelling of fairy tales.

This story is not for children--It demonstrates a sensual and sneaky side of Cinderella and the Prince that makes them all the more human. I was delighted to find out a back story that made the characters seem so real, but I'm so glad that it is in keeping with the traditional tale!

I have to go out a grab all of Ms. Bloom's work that I can get my hands on right away!

About the story, I liked it, its a retelling of Cinderella, but it maintains its own essence.
But I had a problem, I couldn't connect with the book, even when I thought it was well done, it seems it wasnt the right moment for me to read it.

About the characters, I like Cinders because she was a strong women trying to get out of her bad situation. I didnt love Ash, he didnt make an impression and wasnt remarkable.

I expected to be an erotic book but it was a romance with a little erotic touch.

Cinderella is one of my favorite stories and to hear it in an "adult" version, made me like it more. It was well written, the characters from the original story were all there. Really loved Elle and Ash, they made such a cute couple. Loved that there was drama, but not exaggerated, just the right amount. Elle was very honest and open with Ash and I liked that about her character.
Really liked it and would recommend to my friends.
Thanks!

I have to say that I really liked the book. The book in most aspects is very well written and a worthwhile read. The character development was well done. I fell in love with Hattie, Ash and Fay.
I felt that the sex was a little over done or out of place. The ending could have been longer, would have liked to see what developed between the characters after. Kind of a rushed ending.
Would I buy the book a definite YES.

A wonderfully sexy spin on Cinderella’s fairy tale. Ella is faced with the over-bearing evil step-mother so she works diligently to earn money of her own so she can get-away. Of course, the evil step-mother thwarts those plans which sends her down a new path and into the arms of Ash. Ash is captivated by the beauty that lands in his bed but she is hard to pin down. As their encounters heat up, will Ash be able to save Cinderella from her dismal life? A fun, sexy retelling of Cinderella.

A modern version of Cinderella with a twist. Ella lives with Lady Kenna and her ugly step sisters although Marigold is kind hearted although it doesn't show due to her mothers domineering ways. Ash and Ella meet in an unconventional manner and this story goes through the journey they take. It's light hearted and easy flowing story. Do they find their happy ever after - you'll have to read the book. Novel and fun. Well done. Arc copy given and this is my honest review.

Fairy tale with a twist and a few sexy romps. The book is well written and it will hold your interest. The author gives plenty of detail so you become very familiar with the characters and the story follows through well.

Cinders and Ash go through a pretty interesting way of getting to know one another and getting to their happily ever after.
