Carly's life is relatively mundane with nothing more interesting to occupy her time than tidying up after an inattentive boyfriend and watching re-runs of sitcoms on the television... until one evening when she sees something at her window. She starts to suffer from terrifying hallucinations she cannot control; to top it off her boyfriend has gone missing. When Kyle, a handsome seductive stranger, shows up at her door and takes her under his wing, she finds herself thrown into a supernatural world she never knew existed. Carly soon learns she has been scratched by a werewolf and to survive she must join the pack. Despite her reservations Carly finds herself falling for Kyle. After hunters savagely attack Carly's new friends and slaughter someone close to her in search of the Wolf Born, little does she realise a more deadly threat awaits them in the form of skinwalkers. As Carly becomes more involved she begins to have terrifying visions through the eyes of a pack member, but are these events which plague her dreams real? Could there be a traitor in their midst? Who is the Wolf Born she is hearing rumours of? Faced with this new danger, Carly must now overcome more than just her transition into a wolf.

Wolf Born by Nat Gosney
Now, I expected this to be twilight with fur and bigger teeth. But I was wrong. Sometimes I’m wrong. That’s okay.
What I got was an involving story about a young woman who finds her life turned upside down as she discovers she has been turned into a werewolf following her boyfriend’s dealings with a local pack of werewolves (as you do). Although I don’t mind romance in novels as a plot device (I don’t tend to read a lot of romance tbh), Gosney handles the romance and the men in her life without too much soppiness. In fact, she seems to deviate against traditional romantic tropes and downplay the romance, letting it a backseat, instead concentrating on her transition from human to wolf and the effect it has on those around her. Gosney creates her own physiology with her creatures, whilst borrowing obvious elements from traditional wolf lore; she weaves in her own ideas seamlessly, creating a believable universe with a tangible past and troubled future.
Without any spoilers, the story goes along nicely with a couple of twists I wasn’t expecting leading up to epic fight scene which you wouldn’t have guessed was coming from the first few chapters.
In places, especially the feeding scenes, it does get a little bit grisly (a werewolf’s gotta eat, right?), but Gosney bring a human side to werewolves, instead of making them the big bad wolves we’re used to, she brings much needed sympathy for the cursed characters (well, most of them).
In all honesty, my only niggle would be a few things that get lost in translation. Gosney is a British writer, with the novel set in Somewhere, USA, and a few things stand out as not fitting in (sausage rolls, dude?), but don’t let this put you off. Wolf Born is a nice tale with flares of humour that bridges the gap between romance and horror, without relying on either genre too much.

Was looking for a werewolf book and got one! Shame there's only two but I think its fine like that. Liked the Native American vibe it also delivered.

A different kind of wolf story but still intriguing and suspenseful.
At first I was taken aback by Carly having to eat raw meat to take away the hallucinations from becoming a werewolf. As I continued on I found it fascinating that the beast has no conscious thoughts of it's own. It it is truly a mindless animal. The concept of becoming a werewolf with no thoughts of right or wrong is very scary.
Carly is a very naïve but brave girl, who has been turned against her will by her boyfriend. Kyle is the beta of the pack who helps her to understand what has happened. Kyle’s brother Simon is the alpha who is arrogant, inconsiderate and unfeeling. Rob is Carly’s boyfriend who while he turned her was cheating on her. Rob’s friends Ian and Gary agreed to turning without understanding the ramifications of being werewolves.
As they wait for the first full moon, there other things happening that can prevent them from living. There are hunters looking to kill them. Simon is up to something but only Carly suspects it as she is afraid to let the others know for fear the might not believe her.
Carly is having visions of things that are going on only to find she is seeing through the eyes of the person whose mind she has inhabited. A side effect of being a female werewolf. Through this knowledge she tries to let Kyle know what Simon is doing, but Kyle refuses to accept because Simon is his brother.
We are introduced to “skinwalkers” that look like certain animals by the skin they wear. We meet Native Americans that are aware of the the werewolves in the area. With the hunters, skinwalkers and the Native Americans on their trail, can they tell who is friend and who is enemy? Who will survive the epic battle that awaits them?
A good twist to the popular werewolf genre.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Even though I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of werewolves, Wolf Born was a fun read. I particularly enjoyed the care Natalie takes in establishing the rules (and also not breaking them), a step of utmost importance for this genre.

Carly is a very likeable protagonist, her thoughts are funny at times and her reactions to what’s happening to her are natural. I found it easy to root for her. I loved her abilities and how she used them to uncover the mystery – it’s an awesome way to see what else was going on and still not violate first person POV.

Kyle is a great love interest and fresh in that he’s not the huge werewolf stereotype, but more thoughtful and reserved. His relationship with his brother is realistic, and the whole pack dynamic is written well.
The plot had some twists but nothing unbelievable or off the wall. I loved the final showdown – Natalie has a penchant for writing action scenes. It was easy to visualize what was quite an elaborate scene and the writing was fluid.

I was a little confused as to the motivations of the person who turned Carly. Considering the situation that person was in with her, it had me scratching my head. The overall pacing was good, but sometimes slowed by the internal monologue. I would’ve liked to have seen a little more editing, not so much grammar but more punctuation and cutting – there were a few instances of spoonfeeding that could really tighten the story without them. All in all, though, I found Wolf Born an exciting and enjoyable read. I will definitely pick up the sequel and recommend it to others.

WOLF BORN – NATALIE GOSNEY
Seth is the leader of a three man pack him, his brother Kyle and their friend Devon, they are determined to make more werewolves. Seth and his pack mates change a group of friends( Ian, Jackson, Rob and Gary) that Devon hangs around with. Unfortunately things don’t go as planned as the new wolves have hallucinations and one of them gets attacked and killed. One of the newly turned wolves gets away and goes and attacks his girlfriend to change her as well.
Carly shows she has some amazing skills and turns out to be an asset to the pack. When her boyfriend Rob is killed by the hunters that are hunting the pack. Carly is then told she belongs to the pack leader Seth. Carly isn’t having any part of this. With the hunters after the pack they are on the run trying to stay ahead of the hunters.
There is plenty of action and drama to keep you turning the pages. All the way through I was aware that something wasn’t as it seems but it was like a puzzle piece was missing so I had to keep turning the pages to find my missing piece.
Also after the pack is a group of skin walkers that need the pelts of animals to change. These skin walkers are after the “Wolf Born” wolf it looks like this could be Seth but is it? They need the wolf born for a ritual.
I received this ARC for an honest review. I don’t want to say too much more in case I give too much away. N. Gosney is a master story teller and I am happy to recommend this book to lovers of any form of paranormal stories. Anyone who reads this story is sure not to be disappointed.

With her novel, “Wolf Born”, Natalie Gosney has put a new spin on werewolves. Instead of the lone werewolf of the past, Gosney has wolves forming packs and working together. When a local werewolf, Seth, decides to form his own pack Carly is unexpectedly caught up in the ensuing adventures. It is Seth’s brother Kyle who takes on the training of Carly, introducing her to the ways of werewolves and the pack. Tragedy strikes almost immediately and as one fatality follows another Carly is caught up in a drama she struggles to understand. Soon Carly learns the enemies of the werewolves are not only hunters but skinwalkers, and other packs as well. While trying to understand the world she has been drawn into Carly develops romantic feelings for Kyle. However as leader of the pack Seth has the right to claim her. One by one secrets are revealed and things are not at all what they seem. With shocking twists and turns the story reaches an unexpected climax. There are a few editing issues but they in no way affect the reading of the story. All in all, a howling good read!

I really enjoyed this book, although the story line was quite predictable. This predictability may be because I read the prequel before this, which allowed me to see where everything came from and also allowed me to see what was coming.

To make this more enjoyable, I would recommend not reading the prequel until after this, if not after Wolf witch too, which I will be going onto next.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

"She cried as though her heart were breaking, for indeed, she felt as though it was. The events of the entire day began to wash over her like a flood and it was as if she was losing control. She didn’t know who she was anymore; she didn’t think she would ever feel right again."

I loved the writing in this book, I could relate to a lot of what Carly went through emotionally.

I enjoyed the weaving of the werewolves, wolf born vs scratched, the skinwalkers, the native american stories, being the only women in the pack and what that meant.

Natalie Gosney has a unique story to tell and she does an excellent job of it, Her characters are dynamic and this is a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat, trying to figure out what will happen next.

I thoroughly enjoyed Wolf Born and simply could not put it down once I had started! The way in which Natalie paced her writing and Carly's story were well thought out and ideal for an in-depth and yet faced past, thrilling read. I found myself drawn towards each character from early on as they were brought to life with Natalie's vivid descriptions and I quickly became emotionally attached to them. As the story developed I found myself reading late into the night whenever possible so I could find our what would happen next. I particularly enjoyed being thrown straight into the action of Wolf Born from the start. Not a page was wasted and the writing was concise throughout. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a thrilling, easy read with fast-paced action and great characters.

This is my first N. Gosney book that I've read and I have to say I loved it. The story was suspenseful, action packed, at times spooky and violent. This book has it all - a cheating boyfriend, werewolves, skinwalkers, witches, Native Americans and mystery.

The female character of Carly is strong, stubborn, beautiful and tough and has the ability to see through other peoples eyes. The male character Kyle is a sexy alpha male. This is a really good book. The author has a wonderfully vigorous writing style that keeps you glued to the book not wanting to put it down. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a good series to start reading.

I was given this book to ARC by the author.

This was a really different take on werewolves. I especially liked the incorporation of the skinwalker legends. Another really cool aspect of this book is Carly's ability to get into people's heads and see through their eyes. That combined with a mostly dark, often-times wooded setting, made for some very spooky moments.

This was a great introduction to Natalie Gosney's writing.....I really enjoyed this story. Some of the elements in the story were very easy to guess what was going to happen and others seemed to come out of left field. One of the items that jumped right out during the story was how a 'made' wolf had more pack loyalty than the supposed alpha of the pack. The end of the story tied up a lot of loose ends and made so many things that seemed off about Carly make sense and show she was doing the right thing the whole time. I am certain I will be picking up more books in this series in the future and looking for more from this author.

The author provided me with a free copy for an honest review. In the interest of not wanting to give away any spoilers, I will keep my review somewhat vague. First of all I want to say that I loved this book. It had an interesting story line. There was a lot going on and with a good mixture of emotional ups and downs, it made you feel like you were on a roller coaster until the very end. I will say that at first I didn’t like Carly, but she ended up growing on me. I did appreciate that the characters resembled real life in that all of them were not likable and everyone had their own quirks and history. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

I was given this book to read for an honest review. This book is a twisted fate story of two shifter brothers. One with a dark secret and the other who follows blindly because of his love for the other. This book is a mixture of werewolves and skin walkers and secrets that are dangerous to everyone involved. You will follow them through getting new shifters and the trials they have to go through before the first change and the war they have to fight to survive when secrets are revealed. I enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading more from Natalie Gosney

I was given this book to read for an honest review.

This book is the story of Kyle and Seth, brothers and shifters. One with a dark secret and darker heart and the other who loves his brother and would follow him into the pits of hell.

There are werewolves and skin walkers and secrets. Carly is the human female who ends up stuck in the middle of the factions.

I really enjoyed this story although I did find some of the dialogue a bit jarring and repetitive.

Good debut novel from a new author to me.

I received this book for an honest review.

The book was very interesting and detailed. It was so good that I couldn't put it down. I loved the story line about werewolf's and skin walkers. The delma between two brothers. Also, a recently changed werewolf that has visions and can experience being the other seeing/feeling as if she is them. New love in the air or is it pack loyalty... Will she able to use her visions to help save the pack... Will they all be doomed due to the brother's crave of power... You must read this book.

This is such a great read. From beginning to end I was enthralled in the story of Carly and her transformation from normal woman to werewolf. I also liked the story of the skinwalkers, a lore that I hadn't heard of before reading this book. I also loved that there were both the uncontrollable beast werewolf as well as the more commonly written about werewolf in full control of him/herself. I eagerly await the next book in the Wolf Born Saga!

Wow.. that was totally different from what I was expecting. This story hits on a totally different way of writing werewolves and their transformations. It was a very good read.. so much action and tradgedy... so many unexpected things happened while she is trying to find her way through life and the way her life turned out. I loved feeling like I was experiencing the characters feelings and it was amazing. I am so glad that the author allowed me to read/review for her.

Kyle is a natural wolf born. Seth is his alpha brother or is he?... Carley is a scratched wolf who was brought to the werewolves side because of her boyfriend. She had no say in it. Some werewolves have visions, and she does, what she sees doesn't bod well with her. How will the pack take with these visions she is having? Will they believe her or will they say she is crazy? Will they be able to make through the lunar moon, to her first change or will they be doomed from the beginning.

What an interesting new spin on shifters. I loved the shifter/ skin walker story line. I enjoyed the way the author humanize the shifters. I felt the Native Americans were shown to be kind, generous. Wise & brave. I loved the story and look forward to more by N. Gosney.
