Gah, no. After finally reading any part of the Ever After High series, I am so glad that I never tried to read the first book. It is like a tween Valley high girl lives in some strange form of a Barbie world but with, like, fairytales... and stuff*.
A few of my nieces are Monster High and Ever After High mad at the moment and so when I spotted that there was a range of free short e-book stories available I thought I would give them a quick read to see what some of the fuss is about and to be honest I absolutely love both series' dolls too and I am hoping they are still popular and about when my daughter gets to 5/6+.
This short story (Briar Beauty's story who is the daughter of Sleeping Beauty) is very short and maybe takes around 5 minutes maximum to read but if you are an adult and your daughter or nieces etc are Ever After High mad then I would definitely recommend reading this short story as I have had a big smile on my face from start to finish (as with the other short stories in the range) and even laughed out loud a couple of times. Although the short stories are obviously aimed at children who are fans of Ever After High they are quite simply funny (and this one is a charming little story) and worth a quick read and especially as they are free. This story is more charming than funny but I actually really enjoyed it and it tells the short story of Briar getting ready to go off to boarding school but her jewellery has gone missing. I was really amused at Sleeping Beauty and her having fell asleep in her scrambled eggs and there being pillows dotted around the castle in case Briar or Sleeping fell asleep. Of course if you are an Ever After High fan then you will love this short story too but if you get your mum or dad to read this story with you then you will put a big smile on their face too. Brilliant little short story.
This is a short little story about Briar Beauty and what her life is like outside of Ever After High. This was one of the silly ones, her castle has zip lines all over and there are pillows everywhere incase her or her mother go to sleep. They both will randomly fall asleep and Briar has to sometimes fish her mother out of the porridge. Her father is a one of those who rushes off at the drop of a hat to rescue or save someone. So he isn’t really any help in the whole, me and my mother are narcoleptics. Slightly silly and absurd this one is probably the weakest of the set, but it was free and if you like the idea of these books you will enjoy this glimpse into the life of Briar.
A cute story - to a point. I liked that Briar's brothers had hidden her jewelry, and she did easily get it back by playing along with them and pretending to be Captain Hook. But, the weird language/slang these "fairy tale" teens use is crazy. Also, what kind of story has a girl fall asleep when she is jumping out a window? Isn't that a "death wish" of sorts?!?
Briar Beauty's Story (Ever After High, #0.3) was a quick and easy read. It was a prequel of Briar Beauty daughter of Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip leaving for her Legacy Year at Ever After High. I liked this story. I love that the castle has zip lines and pillows everywhere for Briar or her mother if they randomly fall asleep. The family had a tight bond. The relationship between Briar and her eight little brothers was adorable. I love how she wanted to spend time with them playing pirates and Peter Pan even after they stole her jewelry. A great read.
Of this little series, I must say that it is the worst. I know she's the daughter of Sleeping Beauty, but they took it so seriously, it lives up to the theme, to the point where it's stupid, because this intro is so boring I almost fell asleep. It's completely forgettable, like any tedious filler scene. But the worst, really, the most nauseating were the awful names of Briar's triplet brothers, I swear, my eyes almost bled. They could be better...

Short and sweet! Briar is an interesting character. She has a bunch of mischievous brothers, and is excited to go to Ever After High. This little tale is an intro into her life leading up to her departure for school. I do wish there was more though.
