Cheryl Guttridge grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, and received a degree in political science from the University of Michigan. A romantic at heart, she never pursued a career in politics. Instead, she immediately tossed her diploma in a drawer and went in search of love and adventure.

She found work as a professional actress and model and traveled the country, appearing in an eclectic mix of B-list TV shows, commercials, movies and auto shows. Eventually, she landed a job at National Geographic Television in Washington, D.C., writing video box copy and titling films. It was there that sje finally realized what she wanted to do when she grew up: write.

After short, unprofitable stints as a poet, a playwright and a screenwriter, a teacher told her to write what she knew. She immediately began writing a romance. In 1996, she sold that first novel as part of a three-book deal as Margaret Allison and never looked back. Now, she writes as Cheryl Klam.

Cheryl lives in Annapolis, Maryland, with her husband and two daughters. She firmly believes that love conquers all and never tires of hearing stories that support her theory.

I read The Last Curve, a romantic suspense, by Margaret Allison in 2007. This was my first story by this author and I wasn’t impressed. Fast forward to 2016 and I found the book Indiscretion and I thought I would give her another chance.

Katherine Wells was starting over after a relationship ended badly at her former workplace. She was to meet a friend (the lady was a no-show) at a bar that evening before starting her new job the next day. This was not the type of place that Katherine would usually visit. Within a short time, a handsome man introduced himself as ‘Mike’. Before the night was over, he saved Katherine from an overbearing creep and asked if he could meet her again soon. It turned out to be her new boss.

Let me just mention that the reader is constantly reminded that Katherine was beautiful. Pretty. Gorgeous. And Michael was handsome. Good-looking. With a body to die for.

Then, for the next umpteen pages, Michael Benson does his best not to be attracted to her because he doesn’t believe in relationships with co-workers or marriage. This comes from a guy in his mid-thirties who had been sexually involved with one of his vendors who happened to be a family friend who worked for him. She subcontracted for his company so that was the reason it made it different. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Lastly, there was The Big Misunderstanding. Need I say more?
