If you are unfamiliar with alternative remedies you may be unfamiliar with homeopathy. Bach remedies is based on homeopathic theory. According to Wikipedia "Homeopathy (also spelled homoeopathy or homœopathy) is a form of alternative medicine in which practitioners claim to treat patients using highly diluted preparations ...." I first became interested when a friend recommended a remedy to a dog I had with a cough. The cough went away when the remedy was in use. Since the placebo effect does not work with dogs I figured the remedy worked.
The Bach Flower Remedies is a small book with a big job. You start with and introduction to Dr. Bach and his philosophy. It then moves through the book to his 38 flower remedies; their descriptions and medicinal characteristics. From there it is discussed how to choose remedies for either yourself or others. It finishes with a discussion on how to administer remedies, make up treatment, and the healing period. As with other instructional books it has a list for further reading.
All in all I like this book it is well written and easy to read. Judy Ramsell Howard
A short (70-ish pages) book packed with a quick overview of the Bach flowers. While not as comprehensive as the Encyclopedia I read last week, it still had very helpful information and would make a quick reference guide when you don’t have time for a deep-dive.
Great, basic text about the 38 flower essences and their characteristics. Gives some history about Dr Bach, and also advice about how to make up remedies. Very useful book.
