Gully's Fall #6

Second Chance

Rate this book
The terror of his year 4 schooldays was in town, and his knee-jerk reaction had not made a good impression. Drawn to this spirited rubenesque beauty, can Grant convince her to give him another chance?

After a less than warm welcome, Tam was suspicious of the handsome vet’s motives. Already burned twice, she isn’t ready for another round.

Then there’s Gully’s Fall’s own mystery... the Stealth Thief…

This is probably a it's not you, it's me thing as I was really enjoying it a lot up till a point that just makes me not like it as much. Could also be because I was busy in the middle, making it hard for me to be fully immersed in the story.

I love small towns. It gives a cosy friendly vibe where everyone cares enough to be nosy about everyone's business, yet in times of need, will band together. The supporting cast is absolutely stella. Not having read the previous installments, I still can easily tell these boys and girls apart as Verdenius has sucessfully created individuality in each of these characters. I also enjoy the bantering so very much, this is probably the only book that makes me laugh out loud for close to a minute as parts of it is really hilarious and I would just love to have this gang as friends and chill with them.

The H is actually pretty adorable at the beginning, unassuming and just a bit quiet, yet intense when something caught his interests and clueless about other things as he isn't really a player type. I like how he goes after the h and was unwittingly drawn by her, yet once they got together, I felt like I am reading about a different man, with his caveman act and all the babe and neck rubbing ka vibe. I would have liked it more if I see his old self more, though I also understand this was due to his feelings for the h and his unwillingness to let something good go.

Sexy scenes are there but not overwhelmingly so, which suits my mood. And though I found the picnic scene super charged and intense, the follow up wasn't to my liking especially given the H's personality and h's circumstance. Overall though, it is steamy and fun.

The major issue I have with the book is the h. I started out really liking her, she is cheerful, no nonsense straight forward. I even found it amusing how she leads our H on a merry chase. Yet once the call mystery was explained, she just totally doesn't work for me, up to the final scene. And again this is a personal thing. I do not like dragging things on like she did personally, it in fact is a total turnoff for me. Hence her actions just make her weak petty and quite frankly too stupid for my liking. A simple sentence could have solved all this, and given how stressed out she is by such a non issue that she herself made into a huge snowball, even though I tried to understand her reasoning, I just couldn't get past it to like her as I did before. She just seems so insecure that she was enjoying leading people on just to feed her ego, and what is worst, she isn't even getting anything except stress out of this, so I just dont know why this was dragged on for so long. Also I got a bit tired of her hangup all through the book. I understand her initial insecurity, but it just seems to be going on for so long I lost patience with her. Focus is on the outside way too much for my taste, though I guess this was the whole point of this book.

All in all, this should still be an enjoyable read for most people, it just so happened to step on one of my pet peeves that got on my nerves so much I couldn't fully enjoy the read from then onwards.

Ok, are guys in Australia that are like the characters in this series?!?!?? Cos believe me I'm definitely moving to Australia!!!!

I want one like Grant, Simon, Scott, Kirk, Moz and Ryder!!!! Gosh! Awesome sexy men :-)

Angela Verdenius has done it again, I fell in love with all of them and the women in the series are all great heroines!!! She writes the sweetest romance and sexy stories ever!

If you are a romantic by nature like me, please do yourself a favor and buy this series, believe me, you will not regret it!!!

But everything must come to an end and this is the end of Gully's Fall...I don't want it ro end but can't wait to read more of Angela Verdenius!!!!

Great end to a wonderful series. Grant gets his HEA with his nemesis from grade school. How they work past their mutual disquiet with each other is wonderfully written. Love Grant and Tam is more than a match for him.

lucky that i enjoy this author's writing style and group of friends we been following around for this series because she writes the same book and characters multiple times. same descriptions and same tropes.

we meet characters in previous books in the series and they seem like they'll be more of an individual but when they get their own book they all get "caveman, possessive, protective" etc. and these plus sized girls are all overblown hourglass figures with thin wastes and big boobs which is the ideal body type so idk what the hell the problem is there.

but the books are cute and low stakes for the most part so they're still enjoyable reads. just please, different descriptions and archetypes in the future!

Sensational

I was so happy Grant got a book of his own, and Tam was his perfect match. The Stealth Thief revealing was the perfect levity for the story. I like how the author creates these wonderful, lifelike characters. While I am sad for the series to come to an end, I am looking forward to reading more stories by this author in the future.

I think I was hoping for a wee bit more angst, but nonetheless I loved this last installment of the Gully's Falls series! Sad to see them go, but looking forward to whatever Angela is cooking up next! :) (3.5 stars)

As always, I adore Angela's writing. They suit my taste and the cheekiness! Though I'm not as brave as Tam, still.. She's hilarious!
But to be honest, I was expecting more angst especially with the supporting plot. But overall I enjoyed this book so much!
Look forward to read more!

I really enjoyed this one till about halfway mark.
Grant is by far my favourite bachelor from Gully's Fall. I liked he was a little oblivious and dorky. It made him stand out among the rest of the heroes (which kind of all blend together) and was hoping he will stay like that during more "hot" scenes. But, sadly, he suddenly went in to "alpha mode" and it sort of sour this character for me.
Heroine - Tamara - was also one of the more likeable female leads from the series. I especially liked how she was reacting to some of the Gully's Falls "mob's" antics. I love good banter, and as always it's really obvious AV knows how to write a dynamic - "alive"- banter between characters. But it was just... too much sometimes.
The main mystery was pleasantly silly, and the Carnival scene had a strong "romance-TV-movie" feel, but I liked it all the same.
This book was a strong 4 star for me, but fizzled to 3.5 by the end.

She was the cause of his childhood nightmares, he was the star of her childhood dreams...
Tam had her heart broken, twice, recently, and wasn't about to let it happen for the third time. When Grant, her childhood crush, seems less than happy to see her again, she just wants to stay away from him.
Grant realized as soon as his knee jerk reaction happened, that he was being rude. But Tam wasn't about to hear his explanations or apologies, no matter how sincere.
There several elements in the story, that are so easy to relate to, that has happened to most of us in one form or another. I truly enjoyed the tale, it made me sigh, and laugh, and smile and tear up. Emotional connection to the characters was as easy as to like them.
Tam and Grant together were smoking hot, the chemistry between them was amazing, and Grant finding his alpha side, was at times hilarious.
The friends, like always at Gully's Fall, are loyal, the banter brilliant, entertaining, and source of many laughs. I surely am going to miss them, this being the last book in the series.
Between the smoking hot romance, the life of the circle of friends, the amusing events and people of the small town, and barrel of pets, the story has a message, that is hard to ignore. It encourages everyone to live fully, not to settle down for less, not letting people take advantage of you, and what it really is like, when a person truly loves another, accepts another, just the way they are. The story has a monologue, that Grant delivers at the town fair, that made me want to stand up, and salute him. So often people are only looking at the outside appearance, and judging others by their looks, not bothering to see the true person, or accept the fact that no one is perfect. I have always loved Angela Verdenius' BBW books, the stories are well written, fun, entertaining, and touching, carrying a message of accepting people as they are, this story given me a great reminder of the fact, that not all romance is written about those 'perfect people', but real, positive stories are written about characters little closer to home to many of us, that are solid, sincere, and relatable, and as raw and real as life to many of us is. Please, Ms Verdenius, keep them stories coming!

A sexy humourous read!,
A great ending to this series. I was a little cautious getting into this series because I wasn't crazy about the last one, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out I was wrong. I enjoyed everything about this series and this book too! I absolutely loved the hero, Grant, he made a very memorable hero with a lightness to his character and a sense of humour. A sense of humour in a hero is rare and incredibly sexy.

Once again, Angela Verdenius has given life to some of my favorite characters. I found myself laughing out loud during many moments in this book (especially Dingbat 1 and Dingbat 2). My only complaint is that I wanted it to go on and on and on. So sad to have Gully's Fall come to an end. Can't wait to see what she brings us next!!!

Second Chance (Gully's Fall Book 6) was a great ending to the series. Grant's story. I am going to miss all my friends from Gully Falls. Angela has a way of making each and every one in her series be your friend. Can't wait for a new one to start. The whole series was a 5+ star for me.

I just want to say how much I appreciate reading a romance between a handyman and a supermarket worker. Instead of the usual billionaires..
